"Terrible - dirty, old, no service"
The gym is super filthy, the room not taken care off, old and worn out. Not even an umbrella can be provided. The location is great, but still would no one recommend to stay. Way to expensive for what you get. Very disappointed about the brand Sheraton.
"Clean, comfortable room - near Chinatown and Tribeca"
Rooms are nice, clean and comfortable. The noise from the street can be loud. Location is good to easily walk to Chinatown, Little Italy and Tribeca. And an easy 1 train ride to Midtown. Would recommend.
"OK, but overnight front desk went AWOL"
I really liked the feather pillows for a good night's sleep, the 24-hour gym - for those of us staying on UK time - and the location; it's a gentle stroll from the cute soho streets, the delis, the bars, dean and delucca on Broadway and not too far from Washington Square. Sadly, the front desk messed up taking a business call, which is deeply unimpressive. when I checked on Monday, I told them I was due to take a call at 6am from a client in Spain and the girls on the front desk assured me they have 24-hour coverage on the front desk. Being on the 18th floor, I couldn't just nip down close to the scheduled time, so I phoned the front desk... and it rang and rang and rang for 20 minutes. Meanwhile, my client is phoning from Spain and similarly, no-one is picking up. The client, my publisher and I are all swapping emails and still no-one is picking up. Eventually a man does pick up and I say, 'where have you been''. 'Right here', he replies. So I tell him about the calls, and he claims no-one rang through. BUT I RANG THROUGH! So frustrating. So overall, a well-located hotel (bring ear-plugs - Canal street is noisy even if your room, like mine, is not on Canal Street itself - but a business hotel this is not!
"Decent value with good access"
Booking a hotel in New York is never that easy. You usually have to choose between location and cost, and getting both is pretty rare. NYC has a good number of hip boutique hotels that spawl across Tribeca and Soho, but these usually come upwards of £300 per night. If you are like me, it's great to stay in cool and hip hotel, but a great location and price that isn't going cripple me is more important. The Sheraton Tribeca is located on Canal Street, a busy road linking the Holland Tunnel and Manhattan bridge and splits the Tribeca and Lower Manhattan neighbourhoods. At first glance you feel like the hotel is sandwiched between two busy lanes of traffic, which it is, however you are also positioned within 15 minutes walk from some of the nicest places to eat and drink in Manhattan. A Metro stop is around the corner so you can reach the heights of Central Park and Times Square easily, however if you want to sightsee around either of these locations then I wouldn't stay here and instead opt for somewhere further north. Walking out of the door of the hotel to the north is the delights of Soho and Greenwich, with the Meat Packing district about 30 minutes walk. Bleekers Street, famous for eateries and live music is 15 minutes away. 15 minutes to the east is Little Italy and Chinatown, and 15 minutes to the south is the WTC. Inside the hotel the rooms are of average size, a little dated, but clean and comfy enough. The sound proofing isn't great as the doors don't really keep the noise out, however the beds are very comfortable which makes sleeping after a long day of walking the streets nice and easy. All in all if you are looking for a good location then The Sheraton Tribeca ticks the boxes especially if you are a foodie and live music junky. Don't expect boutique decor and long velvet curtains or you will be disappointed. Transfers to JFK are 1.15hr and Newark approx 1hr.
very convenient location in the heart of Manhattan! elegant terrace with panoramic views on the club floor! nice linens in the rooms and comfortable mattresses for a healthy sleep! Hotel suitable for both short term and for the long journey!
