"Poorly designed, unmaintained and below par Sheraton"
The list of issues with this hotel is extensive. Started out with a RUDE front desk clerk Dominque (I think) the only African American female during our stay. When both of our room keys did not work she pretty much stated we were idiots and that WE did something to screw up our entry into our room. Turned out the frickin lock was broken. We had to ask a Janitor to call maintenance to fix the lock so we could get into the room. We later learned that other guests had "attitude" issues with Dominque as well. On to the room. What a very poor layout! No drawers, so you are forced to live out of your suitcase, which must reside on the floor because there is no luggage rack. The pillows are WAY to soft for my comfort. The room becomes so uncomfortably hot at night, despite whatever setting you set. There was no view from our room, but at least we didn't hear constant sirens. The soda machine charged $6.45 for a can of Coke - give me a break. There were so many other issues, but if you stay here you will find out for yourself. The one good thing I will say, is the location doesn't suck. And the other hotel personnel were very nice - but The Dom should be fired.
"Still my favorite in NYC"
It's been about 4 years since my last review for this hotel and I thought I would post again as it's been consistently good over dozens of stays since my initial review (including this month). The hotel is in very good condition and is very well maintained. Despite being a high traffic property it is still not showing wear and tear in my experience. I use this hotel for both business and personal stays in NY. There are multiple subways that are very close so it's easy to get anywhere. The location is awesome if you like a more neighborhood feel, lots of shopping and dining nearby. I much prefer being down here to midtown which feels very generic and touristy compared to SoHo/Tribeca. My experience with the staff has always been terrific, particularly the front desk. In particular Sal is awesome and remembers me by name. You have to care quite a bit to pull that off, especially when it might be a couple months since I've been in and this is a busy hotel. Also, Katie on the Guest Relations team has been very proactive and helpful in reaching out to get feedback and help with any questions and requests. Again, she obviously cares quite a bit. I feel bad I don't remember all the names of the other great folks, it's not because they don't offer great service as well. SPG recognition is the best I've experienced in NYC as well. I've been to just about every property in midtown (all brands) and this hotel is consistently the best with upgrades and amenities. Finally, I usually find this hotel to be very reasonably priced compared to the other SPG properties in town. Some tips: 1. The club lounge is awesome. Good service, food selection, extra snacks during the day and one of the best views in the whole city and an amazing roof deck. If there weather is nice you don't even need to go out, hang out and have drinks on the roof deck. 2. Peppolino for Italian right around the corner is terrific. 3. Nancy Whiskey is a great dive bar with good burgers right around the corner 4. The gym is decent but there is also a Planet Fitness connected 5. Canal St is very busy, sometimes it's easier to have your Uber/Lyft/Car meet you across the street or around the corner 6. Like many NYC hotels, the rooms can be small. If you are with others, spring for the larger rooms, the difference is worth it This will continue to be my go to spot in NYC when the price is right!
"THE WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE IN THE PAST 20 YEARS!"
My wife and I are seasoned world travelers, so we are used to minor glitches when we travel and generally do not complain about small problems when they arise. At the Sheraton Tribeca, the problems were not small, forcing us to scramble the day after we arrived to secure alternate accommodations. What was wrong' Her is a BRIEF list of a few selected issues that made our continued stay impossible: Except for the bed, the comfort of the accommodations, as a whole, was unacceptable -- 1. The deadbolt did not work on the door to our room when we arrived, and to the room to which we were moved on Day 2; 2. The gym was immediately below our $300+/day room, and the treadmill noise -- thumpa, thumpa, thumpa, thumpa -- woke me at 7:00 am and continued non-stop for an hour before I finally gave up after only 3 1/2 hours of sleep); 3. NO SHELF/DRAWER SPACE IN THE ENTIRE ROOM, SO WE WERE FORCED TO LIVE OUT OF OUR SUITCASES FOR 2 DAYS BEFORE WE MOVED OUT; 4. terrible night staff attitude and service (day staff much better and accommodating); 5. view of pipes and brick wall outside both of the rooms to which we were assigned, AND THESE WERE SUPPOSEDLY THE BEST ROOMS IN THE ENTIRE HOTEL!!!; 6. I could go on, but why bother' The bottom line: THIS IS THE WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE THAT WE HAVE HAD IN THE PAST 25 YEARS, and my wife & I are seasoned world travelers (each of us has visited more than 80 different countries)!!!
"Great Hotel near Soho!"
I stayed over the night of November 6th and 7th 2016, room 1805. The hotel is located in South Manhattan, walking distance from many great shops. The room was quite spacious with a very nice view of the City. For being Platinum I had access to the Club Lounge, which is located on the last floor and has a beautiful view with a great outdoor sitting area over the Empire State building.
"Terrible Experience, Charged incorrectly"
We stayed there for three nights in Sept 2016. We have booked this as package deal from lastminute.com. We put up the sign not to be disturbed on the first day due to our belief in being green. We did asked for second day to make up our room. There were no sign of make up. We had to ask for fresh towel by ourselves. When we tried to check out, we were asked whether we consumed Evian water. We have never found this bottle. After 3 months later, the hotel is now charging separately, although we have already paid this through LastMinute.com. Be extremely careful about this hotel. I would be cautious if I were you.
