"A converted Cinema is now a 4* hotel - Wow!"
Not a lot of people from the UK stay in this city as they rush to catch the ferry home, but they should take at least one extra day and night to look around. Externally the hotel does look a bit like a cinema and the reception area as well (harking back to the Odeon and similar that we used to use way back then!). But it is definitely 4*. The bedrooms were clean and very comfortable and the service was exceptional. Only complaint was the breakfast cost E14 each which we thought was high, so we went a couple of doors down to a café for croissants and coffee which cost the two of us E8. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the seafront, shops, bars, restaurants, cathedral, etc.
"Excellent City hotel with lovely staff and very good breakfast!"
We stayed here for one night after arriving on the Night/Day Ferry from Portsmouth and on our way to A Corunna. The hotel is in the heart of the city and it was a little bit daunting braving the city rush hour to get to the hotel but the good news is that it is only 6 minutes or so from the Ferry Terminal and we managed to navigate our way to it using the Bookings.Com directions and SatNav. The good new is that it has an underground secure parking but it isn't huge so I would recommend letting them know in advance that you need a parking space. The staff on arrival were absolutely charming and the lovely night porter took us and our luggage up to our room which had been upgraded to a suite - what a lovely surprise and what a lovely suite over looking the city streets below. We didn't eat in the hotel but popped out locally for Tapas and beers. We did however had breakfast which was included in the price of our booking and it was excellent. A self service buffet but with freshly fried eggs and some lovely Spanish bacon. There was a very wide choice of foods and again very helpful staff on hand. Just one word of warning that you will have to pay up to 18 Euros per night for parking the car in their underground car park but it is very secure and it is a City centre location so not too bad at all. We very much enjoyed our stay and would be happy to go back for a longer visit!
"A Gem in the middle of Santander"
Our group of 11 persons stayed in this hotel for 4 nights, booking with Sinead of ICon travel, Ireland. We found the hotel very central to many places we wanted to visit, and less than 10 minute walk to train/ Bus station. The staff made us feel very welcome, the breakfast was super, hotel was very clean throughout, with bedrooms a good size ,with good A/c. We would have no problem in recommending this hotel. Well done to all at the Silken.
"Central, easy stroll to everything"
Centrally situated, easy stroll to shops, seafront, bars and restaurants, tourist info etc. 10 - 15 minutes from bus and train station. About an hour's drive from Portes and Pico de Europe - lovely mountains, picturesque villages etc. Hotel very clean, staff cheerful and very helpful, secure underground car park. Lovely Italian restaurant a few doors away and lovely cafe almost next door. Our second stay here (stayed end of June start of July for 5 days) and would stay again.
"Good city hotel"
Good location near restaurants and bars, good city hotel, good value for money, stayed 2 nights staff helpful, rooms clean but sink in bathroom in need of repair big crack in middle, room at back so outlook was onto next building but really not a big issue
