Spent 5 nights at the end November 2016. The weather was exceptionally good, the sea view equally good - fortunately both theses points were beyond the control of this hotel. This hotel LACKS in every department........customer service is seriously lacking - From the complete disinterest at check-in by the male receptionist. The maitre'd in the restaurant however did have some interest - to get your room number and ensure the bill went to the correct room - outside of that and once he'd taken your dinner order - then that was his job finished and he was gone. Breakfast was different - there was no interest shown, none what so ever - a 'free for all'. I wouldn't mind but the choice was also lacking. However, the bar area was the best at showing no interest in customer service. Indeed, I would say they have brought customer indifference to a completely new level and should be given an award for the worst customer service ever. Sea view rooms are small and en suite is just tiny. The €8 / day parking fee is just the final straw. LACKS service, LACKS atmosphere, LACKS interest in its customer. One I would strongly AVOID.........
"Never fails to please"
Another lovely weekend at the Silken Park ,looking forward to the next one .Took friends with us this time & they loved it too .I must admit was a bit disappointed with the size of the room & bathroom this time ,I was the smallest we have had there but the hotel was full so we did not ask to change
"Book this hotel!!"
This hotel is incredible - there are so many wonderful things about it, I don't know where to start! For our 6-night honeymoon, my husband and I booked the Club Silken room. When the staff found out it was our honeymoon, we were upgraded to the Supreme Suite, which was an absolutely incredible room - it was larger than some apartments, and had incredible views overlooking the Mediterranean. If you decide to book this hotel (which you should, you absolutely should) I highly suggest springing for the "half board" option, which includes dinner. The hotel restaurant is incredible, and is far fancier than many of the options in town. It includes a 3 course meal, and all you have to pay for is your drinks. We ate at some other places in town, but it was wonderful to have the option to truly treat ourselves at the hotel restaurant - the veal is divine. Although we traveled during the "off" season (early November), we still found the sea warm enough for swimming (although the bundled up locals clearly did not) and the beach down the hotel steps is lovely and secluded. Platja d'Aro is very clearly a tourist town. If you're into that thing, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. What my husband and I opted to do was to rent a car and venture into some of the surrounding small towns. The hotel is conveniently situated where most of Costa Brava is within an hour's drive. Everything about this hotel is wonderful - its appearance, the friendliness of the staff, the food and drinks, the rooms, the spa, the views, the price - it has absolutely everything you could want and then some. My husband and I both agreed that if we ever come back to Costa Brava we would not even consider staying anywhere else!
"PLEASE BE AWARE - Double Debiting of Credit Card"
On day of departure I paid my account by Credit Card the receptionist used the portable card machine to input details I input the pin number and was advised there was no signal. I was then asked to use another card machine and this was accepted. I queried the first transaction and was assured that it had not been activated and that any over payment would be immediately re-credited to my card account. On returning to the UK I checked with my bank and was advised that two differing amounts had been debited (two debits of approx. 800 Euros each). I immediately phoned the hotel and they requested email evidence of the over payment on my credit card statement which I provided. Since then I have sent several emails (none of which have had the courtesy of a reply) I have made several phone conversations with the Hotel Manager (Charlie) in which I was assured that payment would be re-credited to my account. The Manager did phone me on one occasion but only requested full details of my credit card account, which I thought suspicious as they already had the full details to be able to make the refund. After checking with my Bank they advised I provide the Hotel with limited account details which I did by email. Since then and I have sent more emails to the Hotel, which again they have failed to even acknowledge. Despite continued assurances by the Hotel manager this saga has continued for over two months and no positive action or payment has been made by this so called 5* hotel. I am still owed approximately 800 Euros and the Hotel has provided no written correspondence (emails) of their position. PLEASE BEWARE WHEN SETTLING YOUR ACCOUNT !!!!!!
"One night. Hoping for good hotel, booked with sea view."
On our trip we stopped for just one night at this hotel. The plan was sleep, get up next morning, enjoy the sunrise, get some breakfast and move on. This lived very much up to our expectations. We came late, and the check in clerk immediately offered free parking as we were only staying one night. We gladly accepted. The room was, despite a tad small, very nice, with comfortable bed, nice bathroom, tub, and everything in a nice stone and wood finish. Th sea view we paid extra for was definitely worth it, getting up at 7 we could enjoy the sunrise as the small balcony was directly facing east. The breakfast reviels that many French people are staying in this area. It was a mix of French and Spanish items, but still very good. All the public places of the hotel was nicely looking, clean and all in all just very enjoyable. For a 4 star hotel, this is very much a 4 star hotel. Can recommend.
