"Friendly staff, nice rooms, good shuttle service"
We stayed here with friends after enduring a three hour wait to get through Miami airport immigration. It was a relief to find the shuttle waiting and to arrive at a hotel that exceeded expectations. Staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms are large, clean and airy, the wifi is reasonably quick and the bar restaurant hit the spot when it came to a late night snack. Look out for deals when travelling through Miami.
"terrible. just terrible."
Upon first glance, it's pretty - pretty lobby, hall, rooms are fine. But for almost $200 a night I don't want to pay $17 to self park , or to have to share one bar of soap between the sink and the shower. Air conditioning not functioning. Not one amenity in the bathroom - no shower cap, shampoo, qtips, etc. And of course the famous one bar of soap. Pretty terrible!
"Good location if you have a hire car or need to be near the airport"
I booked through my Accor membership and was reasonably impressed by what was on offer with free breakfast and City view room etc, plus it was only 8 miles from the City, which I felt would get us away from the heavy city traffic and enable us to explore the areas easier, especially after booking a Hertz car rental. In conclusion, it was quite a large hotel with plenty of space to relax. The room was clean and well serviced, the power points all needed renewing and were in difficult to access locations, no USB connections here as it is a revamped aging hotel and needs a good makeover, in all though, it was a good venue and reasonable value for money and served us well during our stay. The included buffet breakfast was very basic, no baked beans, no tomatoes, no prunes etc. but the restaurant was clean and the staff were generally good. The dinner menu was nothing to write home about and was similar to the bar menu, plus it was quite expensive, especially after they added their 19% gratuities fees - a complete rip off in my view as the service was pretty basic. There is a nice outdoor pool area available although we didn't use it, we were too busy exploring for the 4 days we were there. Airport noise was not a problem, this was initially one of my concerns when booking, but it didn't bother us. The air conditioning was good and adjustable to a good room temperature, so no problem sleeping with often noisy systems as happens in some older hotels. My disappointment was, that I was not made aware of the fixed rate of 19% being added to my bill for gratuities and this came as a shock, especially with the limited service that we received, so be aware when booking you have to take into account the 19% extra cost plus taxes of at least another 9%, quite a shock when you are retired and on a budget. Additionally be aware the car parking is charged at $17 per night plus taxes. Many other hotels nearby offer free parking.
"Nice rooms, hotel has too many hick-ups"
We needed a pet friendly airport hotel, we normally stay at the Hilton, but decided we would try the Pullman, as we have stayed in this brand before in Europe. I was a little excited to see what it was all about, but unfortunately, it is pretty, but not finely tuned. Positives: - Pet Friendly - Location to the airport - Room was quiet even though it was the closest to the elevator - Bed was comfortable - Desk attendants were friendly and helpful once it was your turn. - Dinner in the restaurant exceeding my expectations (food and drink, experience noted below). The old Sofitel team are apparently still on, and food quality remains. - Nice breakfast counter with starbucks, fresh pastries, fruit etc. also excellent. Negatives: - Prechecked in online, still had to wait 20 minutes to check in as there was only a single attendant on duty. - Room service was unavailable when we called - seems the only person who could help us was on delivery. - I checked with front desk on having parking validated so we wouldn't have any issue at 5:30a.m. when heading out. He said just press the intercom button, our machine is down and someone will be on. Nope...had to insert credit card for $18. - Room only provided with 1 towel, we did not have time in the morning to bother requesting additional towels, so we just shared and laughed at how bad that was. - Fridge had a terrible hum, had to unplug. - We dined in the restaurant. There was a LOUD high pitched noise which I mentioned when being seated to the maitre D it was a toaster that needed replacing. I asked if it could be unplugged to be ignored on 3 attempts, trying not to cause drama, but we were exhausted from 2 days travel and it was late and I wanted a nice meal and a glass of champagne, in peace, not with a broken sqweeling toaster. (especially after the check in and failed room service attempt). Finally, Alexis, our fine waiter, understood I was being serious and he assisted in unplugging the toaster (nearly 10pm) it is in the same room as it serves as breakfast buffet and they warm the dinner rolls with it. Maitre D later came over to tell me I had good ears, I'd have to say he has bad ears if he couldn't tell it was totally inappropriate to leave it running like that (apparently since 5:30 pm). He says he will need to replace the toaster. Can I recommend maybe finding another way to warm the dinner rolls'' Overall, next trip, if we have puppy with us, we will look at our other options, otherwise, back to the Hilton....where the food isn't nearly as good, but at least parking, check in, room service and housekeeping work.
I and my wife have loved this hotel. Was my second time in this hotel and intend soon come back, if possible in this end of year. We were satisfied a lot, and would like to please every one that did our trip worderfull.
