"Close to airport luxury"
Tour group scheduled us into this hotel. Very close to airport, restaurant in house, coffee shop by front door and airline schedules posted in the lobby. Pool area is large and very accommodating--music repeats endlessly but that is the only complaint. Staff is friendly and very helpful. The whole experience was unexpectedly amazing. Very comfortable hotel. There is a small shopping center within walking distance.
"Started quite negatively"
We arrived at the airport and called the hotel for the shuttle. No on answered. I tried calling the hotel operator and when she finally answered, she told me to go to departures and wait by the curb. Then she hung up on me. "The curb" at miami airport is probably about 2 KM long. I am not exaggerating. I called back and no one answered. When I finally got her again I asked her to clarify whether there is a particular door number we should be waiting at. She rudely informed me that she had already told me where to wait ("the curb") and she hung up on me again. After walking up and down the curb for half an hour we decided to pay for a cab. Fortunately, it got better from there - the front desk clerk reimbursed us for the cab and after that it was a nice stay.
"Not up to Pullman standards"
This hotel feels neglected and faded , The staff at checkin were welcoming and friendly , we were given our room card to our suite. Upon going to the elevator the first thing we noticed was the dirty condition of the elevator buttons and doors , so much so that I used my sleeve to press the button, not my hand. The room was basic but ok , just felt faded, the bathroom towels were thin and not up to standard We had a suite which included a Pod machine but when we opened up the fridge there was no milk or cream not even any capsules of either. We rang downstairs and asked for milk this was bought up in a little jug and we were told there was a charge of a dollar for it! ..Really one of the suite benefits advertised was a coffee machine .. but you still had to pay for the milk .rediculous..why risk bad feelings of your patrons for a dollar. Breakfast felt very weird , it was quite empty and the offerings did not feel like a full buffet . There was no juice but the Man in charge (who was trying to be very helpful but actually made it so I felt I couldn't relax while eating my breakfast ) said he could get whatever we wanted and came back from "somewhere" with our juice. Breakfast is not the time to hover over me please I just want to get my own juice and sit and relax ..it was just slightly weird. There was some noise that went on through the night, my husband said it was the service elevator The house staff were not able to communicate/understand English very well We are Gold Accor members but there was no benefit offered , no free drink etc (and still had to pay for the milk,!!) I'm afraid the only reason to stay here is the convenience to the airport OR if your an avid plane watcher my husband did enjoy watching the planes taking off and landing They do have a free shuttle bus to the airport
"Room for improvement"
We were in a suite which was a nice size room but weird arrangement, the fridge was in the bedroom area! It was very cold and rainy outside but when I tried to use the climate control to heat the room nothing happened, you could only cool, not heat. Soundproofing was appalling given the airport location. The water pressure in the taps was so slow, took an age to fill a sink. Very odd bar area downstairs, big and soulless with the worst choice of music, even worse than elevator music. Ordered room service turkey club and fries, which were nice.
"No way this is a 4 star"
Hotel is close to the airport. Stayed there for one night 2/21. Front desk staff were friendly and check-in was fast. Self parking was $17, which I think is a bit much. Hotel and Room has dated feel. Nothing says 4 star. The bed and pillows are lumpy. Strangely, there is only fitted sheet on the bed and a duvet. No top sheet. This is Miami and I was sweating under the duvet. Tried to call housekeeping around 9.30 but phone just rings busy. Called operator and was told that housekeeping is not available over the phone and they would have to pass the message to them. I asked for a flat sheet. It never came. Spent the night taking the covers off and putting them back on going between sweating and feeling cold. The shower valve handle came off as I was trying to turn it next morning! Somehow I was able to put it back on and finish taking shower with a very weak (barely above drip) shower. Mentioned both issues while I was checking out. All I got was "we are sorry and we hope your next stay is better"!. There won't be one.. Two things any hotel (Motel 6 to Ritz) need to get right: Bed and Shower. Failed on both.
