"Ideal Location in World City"
Whether from Airport, Train or Underground, the Mercure - the future Pullmann - is absolutely i the best location. Underground Line 1 only 25m, 200 to the Airport Bus and 300 to the train Station!! Breakfast is super and the lounge on the 27th floor with a wide range of food and drinks. Happy Hour is 3 hours here!!!
"Best hotel in the area"
Nice hotel, good amenities, good service and the best hotel in the area. At the end of the day, this is China so the fact that our room smelt of cigarette smoke (non-smoking room) and the door to the bathroom was broken was really not that bad. I think keeping in mind the country standard in general and the area that we were in (2 hours from the central city). This hotel was pretty good and any requests we had were addressed quickly as the staff were very responsive.
"Very pleasant stay with courteous staff"
We had a pool-facing room and the view was very nice. The room was very spacious and the staff were professional and friendly. We had a late in-room service there, food quality was good as was the service. The gentleman in the top-hat on the concierge desk was very kind and nice (I didn't see his name but we left at 8am on 26th September, so whoever was on duty then.). The only thing I would say is that the room was a little dated but not enough to ruin the experience. I would love to come back staying here if I am in the area again.
"I believe the staff is learning..."
This hotel is in a newer area and we had a global meeting here; welcoming over 50 foreign visitors. They were not really prepared for this level of English speaking visitors and the level of service is still not to international standards. It's a beautiful property but the conference rooms are spread out on the campus, it can be confusing. Food is good, 5th floor concierge level is very good.
"Ghost town "
During the week this large hotel is a ghost town. Skeleton staff try hard to keep the place running and there is a clear lack of management supervising the hotel. The hotel looks grubby and you know when they cut costs when thy turn lights off in the main lobby to save money. It just feels so unwelcoming and not what you'd expect from a Sofitel. Even the exec lounge was a depressing and empty. Weekends have a buffet lunch which is popular with m families who want access to the pool. Location wise, there is nothing close by and requires a taxi to get anywhere. Once you're there, you're basically stuck. Staff are nice and professional. Perhaps because they enjoy some interaction with guests to save them from boredom. Overall, I was so unimpressed with this place I checked out after one night to move closer into town.
