Very good hotel.Comment of K. Vera , Germany the 2013-09-18
Comment of M. Anette , Germany the 2013-08-30
Comment of G. Ciola , Italy the 2013-07-30
"Pleasant contemporary hotel close to Old City"
Pleasant European contemporary hotel close to the Old City and Castle (about 15 min walking). I booked a spacious luxury double room that was really nice. Breakfast is tasty and with a lot of healthy choices. Spa is a plus with a beautiful swimming pool and convenient gym. Steam room needs some maintenance works.
"Clearly overrated, outdated property"
After staying a night at the hotel for over $200, I could not stop wondering what all those buzz and rave were all about. I took me a while to select a place to stay in Warsaw: there were too many good choices. I thought of Interconti - clearly the best, and Westin where I have also experience of staying. I decided to try something new though. Marriott' Sheraton' Radisson' I recollected walking by Sofitel next to the park and nice square years ago. All the same price league, all the five stars. So why not to try, especially as glancing through Tripadvisor did not uncover existential threats of staying at Sofitel' And there were none, really. However, now I can not give a good reason of why you should be staying there. Slightly wornout room' The windows you cannot open at all' No blackout curtains on the room-wide window' Loose power sockets and shortage of those in the room' Microscopic safe where you have no chance of putting anything with a diagonal over 11-12 inches' Empty mini-fridge for a 5 star hotel' Have never seen before, not big deal for sure but quite surprising. Long depressing corridors' Nice location' Well, it depends on whether old city is your primary destination in Warsaw. The noisy central AC' The buzzing transformer/room control box in the wardrobe I had to muffle with towels and pillows' Poor selection of English speaking TV channels with no movie channel available' Too soft beds and pillows' Sorry if something ugly has not made my sober list. Feel free to add more items if you are unlucky one to stay at Sofitel. Could not skip a short list of goodies: good but not excellent breakfast, non-slamming room doors. Possibly pool / sauna area which I didn't try' If you end up in this hotel - despite my advice to try other, better places in this price category - the last word of caution. When asking for a taxi to the airport, please ask to call you a taxi and not offer you a cab standing by the door. A driver and porter collude and they charge you 50 Zloty as "preagreed" fare while meter will be showing less than 35 (up to 40 depending on traffic). I was staying on the company's dime so didn't really care but if you travel on your own budget, such details matter.
"Almost a five-star experience."
The Sofitel hotel chain is my go-to chain when traveling. It's a hotel that oozes luxury and comfort for me and as I'm one of those people who rather lie in the comfortable bed and order room service rather than go sights I could care less about (hey, at least I'm honest), I value a great hotel. We booked the Prestige suite when staying at this hotel, which as luck would have it, was newly renovated and in absolutely awesome condition. The room was absolutely gorgeous and very high-tech. It came with two bed and baths, a large living room and an absolutely heavenly bed (I fell in love). Everything in this hotel room was perfection - so perfect, that we actually extended our stay for three days just to lie in that bed for a bit longer. Yep. We're that crazy. As a Platinum member with the company that owns the Sofitel brand, we were well received by the person we pre-arranged some things with at the hotel. Unfortunately, this hotel has a big issue and it's service. The people here unfortunately seem incapable to smile, which honestly is such a big pity, because the hotel itself and the dining options at the hotel are absolutely awesome. Let's get to the good part: food. The dining options at this hotel are absolutely amazing. It hosts a great upscale restaurant which actually has really good prices. We did a 3-course dinner for four people with wine for around $200 if I'm not mistaken, which was absolutely fantastic value considering the food was great. We ordered room service probably 10 times during our stay (don't judge me), and it was great comfort food. The prices are honestly what kept us ordering here, we could order two dishes off the room service for around $30 for two people which is absolutely unbeatable. A shabby Hilton in the states would run you more than that and give you much less. Overall: stay in this hotel, but don't be surprised if you are met with surly faces at times. Also, not all the rooms are renovated, so make sure you try to arrange one.
"Weekend in Warsaw"
Excellent hotel in so many ways. First, it is very conveniently located on Pilsudski Square close to the Opera Narodowa and Stare Miasto. Service was superb, especially the reception staff (such an improvement over my past visits some time ago): very professional, knowledgeable, courteous, and helpful. Can't say enough good things about them. The breakfast was quite generous, but I opted for custom-made omelets, which were so delicious that I have been trying to replicate them myself at home for breakfast. I have to say, though, that the crowning glory of the Sofitel Victoria, is the beds. They were the most comfortable I have ever encountered...better than my own at home.
"Great hotel with superb design"
The hotel is conveniently located next to the city center. it's a soviet era building but redesigned to be very modern and trendy, especially the lobby and bar. The bedrooms are quiet and nicely decorated. the breakfast is amazing with a lot of choices. the Pool is incredible with mirrors on the ceiling and water jets.
