There are really no words adequate for this hotel. Beautiful rooms and wonderful staff. My only small complaint was the beds were incredibly soft! The staff were so attentive, especially to my elderly mother, and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel entrance is a little difficult to get to during the day as it is situated in Juliet's courtyard and the amount of tourists has to be seen to be believed. It's centrally located with everything within easy walking distance.
"Wonderful place to stay"
We booked this beautiful hotel to celebrate our 10th Wedding Anniversary based on many of the trip advisor reviews. It is an absolute gem - a very special and romantic place. Very clean and tidy, well maintained and luxurious without being over the top and unnecessary. Great central location. We stayed in Le Stella - a large room, compared to some other hotels in the same price bracket. Well decorated with just enough character; neither chintzy or old fashion or ultra modern and sparse. Although we were overlooking the street, the room is sound proofed very well so the noise outside was not a problem, even in the day (we managed a couple of hours sleep on Sunday afternoon after a very early start!). The room was very comfortable, with a lovely Jacuzzi bath. Great location within Guiliette's courtyard, which is busy with tourists in the day, but locked to all but the hotel guests between 7.30pm and 8.30 am - it did make us feel very special being able to go behind locked gates and explore the empty courtyard (and get brilliant photos) leaving everyone else at the locked gates! Another great plus was having breakfast served in your room each morning. Although I do agree with some of the other reviews - it could have been a bit more exciting, but still it was enough for us. The staff couldn't have been more polite and helpful. The only thing that would have made it even better was to have tea and coffee making facilities in the room - usually a standard facility that was sorely missed after a day out sightseeing. On the whole though I would thoroughly recommend this place.
A very good Romantic setting for part of my honeymoon, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay on the fifth floor. A excellent location, the private access to Giulietta's courtyard is really special. The breakfast served in the room is a nice touch. the staff were very friendly. We will defiantly be recommending this hotel to friends
"Great is so many ways, but could so easily be fabulous with a little more attention to detail from management"
In many ways one of the most special places we've stayed. Absolutely fabulous room - great character, size, amazing antique furniture, beautiful bathroom (with real Jacuzzi and view to die for (well it was for Romeo and Juliet!) - we had the Sogno suite overlooking the courtyard with Juliet's balcony. The staff were friendly, helpful and always there to make sure of a great stay. So why not 5 stars' Mainly, little things, which the owners/managers could easily sort. Breakfast is served in your room, with great aplomb, and in many ways it's a lovely experience. However, the actual core breakfast is really a bit mediocre. Rolls (not anything special), plain croissant, cornflakes, yoghurt and a few other basics. The problem is that even a budget hotel offers eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, pain chocolate, fruit, more cereal selection etc as standard. You can order all those things, but at a supplement of 4 or so euros each - and could easily end up spending an extra 30-40 euros just to have what would normally be provided as part of your already paid for breakfast in a much more economy hotel. All in all it just felt a bit penny-pinching - esp as this is definitely not a budget hotel! Then there's the TV - it's dire, with the most loony remote control I've ever come across (you can't even flick through the channels like on any other TV). In reviews, other customers have grumbled about this, and to change the sets would cost very little in the grand scheme of things - yet despite customer feedback it doesn't get done. We had a light not working in the bathroom, which when reported was too big a job to do whilst we were guests - and I suspect it had been like that for the last few visitors too - and for all we know is still broken. And yes, you do get the courtyard to yourselves after 7pm - except in our experience there are exceptions - with us on our last night when we needed an early night for an early start the next day, there was a group of people admitted after 11pm who made a lot of noise just as we were wanting to get to sleep, staying for about half an hour or more. No criticism of the staff in any of the above, as I doubt anything we mentioned is in their power to change. And I might sound picky, but because the place is so fabulous it felt such a shame that little things let it down somewhat. I'd still say stay there, as even with the flaws it's an amazing place - and management, please just go that extra mile!
When we entered the courtyard to the Giulietta balcony; which u must for the hotel, there were mobs and mobs of tourists. We were immediately concerned with our hotel choice. However, at 7:00 the gates are closed, and u have the courtyard all to urselves. Very nice hotel. Attractive rooms; ours was off the street view, which we loved. Immediately accessible to the Piazza Erbe, and lots of food and shopping.
