"City break & Business"
I've been staying at this hotel for couple of years... it is excellent located for exploring of the city... metro station is only 50m away... there are interesting restaurants and bars in the vicinity of the Hotel... if you come with a car you have at your disposal garage but you should make a reservation of the place before you come to the hotel because it may happen that there are no available place... nevertheless there is private parking near by... The rooms are not big and not small, breakfast is so so, it could be better, in general, price-wise if you do not plan to stay whole day in the hotel... 3+ stars more likely...
Based in the Jewish quarter of Budapest this hotel provides an ideal base to explore the city We had a suite which was clean, comfortable and well maintained Breakfast was included and we found staff to be friendly, very helpful and knowledgable of local sites and transport. Loads of places to eat and drink locally and we would recommend this reasonably priced value for money hotel Well done
"A big disappointment "
I travelled here with a group of friends. I would normally stay at the Continental Hotel Zara along the road but we were on a budget and so thought here would suit. Location wise you cannot fault this hotel. As for the hotel itself, I would never return. Check in: I booked two twin rooms and a double for 5 people. When we arrived we were given two doubles and a single. We were not told about the type of room we had been given so it was a bit of a shock when we entered into the rooms. I certainly did not expect to pay for a twin to then get a single! You also have to pay €50 per room as a security deposit, which I thought was a bit steep. Anyway, I went to reception to complain about the rooms and was told 'oh yeah, did I forget to say, we only have double rooms because we were fully booked yesterday'. When I explained that I specifically asked for twin rooms as my friends did not want to share a bed, I was told they would have a twin room the next day!! Not good enough in my book. We were only staying for two nights. Eventually I was told if I waited 20 minutes, a twin room would be cleaned and made up for us. Again, not good enough. We were checking in at 5pm having travelled since 5am to get there. Check out time is 12pm at the hotel. If they cannot get the rooms cleaned in time, hire more cleaners!!!! Eventually, they found a twin room for us and all was sorted. The room: Our double room was nice enough. It needed a bit a love and attention as it was starting to show its age. The biggest problem I had was that it smelt of cigarette smoke. I thought that all of the rooms were non-smoking but there was an ashtray in the room so I was slightly confused. I did enquirer at reception about this and was told that yes, the rooms are non-smoking but people sometimes smoke in the rooms and there is nothing the hotel can do about it!!'!! The bathroom: The shower took some skill. The water pressure was so strong that if you had it on full, the shower head would fly out of the holder, spray water on the ceiling and if you were not quick enough to catch it, hit you on the head and then land with a thud on your foot. This happened to both myself and my wife. The towels were a little thin and had been washed and washed to within an inch of their lives. The biggest annoyance was the fact that we ran out of toilet roll. We had a tiny amount on the roll on the holder and then one new one. It was never replenished and the face tissue holder was empty for the duration of the two night stay. Thank god for handy pocket tissues!! I find a lack of toilet roll in a room inexcusable Check out: Check out is at 12pm, so we went for a walk in the morning and came back for 11:45am. When we got to the room we found that our keys had been deactivated. So back to reception we went. Faced with a long queue of people checking out. When I explained what had happened, the guy on reception thought I was checking out and asked for my credit card. Frustrated, I explained once again and he gave me a working key. When we did go to check out, you hand over the key, they inform house keeping and once it has been confirmed that you haven't trashed your room, you get your €50 back. I have never come across this kind of thing before. It was almost insulting. All in all, stay somewhere else if you can. There are far nicer hotels in Budapest.
"Great location but not a 4 star Hotel "
We specifically chose this hotel because of the fantastic location and the great deal we found online. So price/value is top notch. However, this is not a 4 star you would find in Western Europe, it's more of a typical 3 star one. The service at the front desk was great, whenever we had issues they solved it right away. I found it only strange that we needed to pay 50 EUR as a deposit in case we had something from the minibar (average prices). The rooms are small but then again: you are in a great city, what else do you need in a room then a comfy bed and a shower. The bathroom: here you can find definitely the proof that this is not 4star! There is shower gel within the shower (bad quality!) but I have missed the small bottles with shampoo, conditioner, body milk and other little stuff you can normally find above 4 stars. At least there was a safe in the room. Breakfast: definitely the weakest point as the stuff is really unfriendly and full of attitude.. no smile at all, rather bored and lazy... they would never see how they can help you or get rid off the plates you have finished. Extremely disappointing, highly demotivated and do only what they are asked for. A smile would make such a difference! And it is even for free.. except for the male waiter, he was OK.. choice of food: Had better eggs in my life.. fake Nutella.. only 2 kinds of jams, which is also artificial and not served in a glass. Sorry... don't get me wrong: you can eat ok here, but it's never ever 4stars... so to sum it up: if you are here to sleep in the center of the city and to have fun: stay here, but if you are expecting service of a higher level, invest a little more money and choose another hotel.
The reception was lovely, kind and helpful. It's location was convenient, because the bus stop for the hop on hop off bus was just 100 metres further. The rooms were clean. But the breakfast could be better, perhaps a little bit more of variation would make it more pleasant. Special compliments to Mr. Jonatan Molnar Miler, he made sure that we had an absolutely lovely stay in Budapest.
