"Four 'C's' minus one Q"
The Somerset is convenient for Melbourne tourist activities and shopping, the apartment was comfortable, plus very clean. The staff were courteous and welcoming. However, if you are allergic to noise this place is not for you. We complained about the traffic noise and were met with a quick offer to change. The 10th floor room was certainly better and one wonders why,( considering we had requested with our reservation that it MUST BE QUIET ROOM) we were not given the 10th floor room on first arriving as it is definitely an improvement on the 7th floor. Disappointing as the room etcera was excellent.
"great location with shopping and restaurants nearby"
Stayed here for 5 nights and enjoyed every moment of it. Shopping amenities and eateries are all within walking distance. tram stop are nearby too. check in and out was a breeze. overall would be staying here again. Afterall we have been staying here for the last couple of years:)
"Good central location"
Lovely serviced apartments which we found spacious with separate living area / bedrooms, on-suite bathroom and kitchenette; ideal for the two of us and included everything we needed. Bedroom had a nice large bed which I found comfortable, although I did get hot at night, and there was plenty of space for clothes. The bedroom has a good sized safe which can take tablets and digital cameras as well as personal effects. We catered for ourselves, but only breakfast. That said, the kitchen had a cooker, microwave, fridge and everything you’d need to do a cooked meal. The on-suite had a washing machine / dryer as well as the usual pedestals. I tried the washing machine and, whilst functionable, does take some time to wash and dry clothes. The living area was a comfortable size for the two of us. The apartment is cleaned and serviced daily. There is wi-fi which I was grateful for as my phone decided not to work; the signal strength was good. The Somerset also provides a continental breakfast if required. It has a spa and gym on site where I took my first ever sauna, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The site has a dedicated reception and can arrange airport shuttles or taxi’s. Ideally situated on Elizabeth Street in the heart of the CBD with various shops and numerous eateries within walking distance. Flinders Street railway station is at the bottom of Elizabeth about 7 minutes away, as is Melbourne Central at the other end, and the free trams run along outside. It is in the city so don’t expect spectacular views. Overall, being central helped us explore the city and as such, found most places were within walking distance. We enjoyed our stay and definitely would stay again given the opportunity.
"Average stay but excellent location"
Stayed for 2 nights from 11th Nov to 13th Nov. Booked a 2 room unit. The room was ok but the furniture and amenities need an upgrade. The staff was ok although on the checkout had to wait for more than 10 minutes as the reception was only staffed by 1 person. Excellent location, central to everything.
I was pleasantly surprised when I got to the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was lovely and big and the bed was comfy and it was in a great location, very handy to everything and public transport was at our doorstep.
