"Hype with Price with Low Services"
Room service - Poor Room Paint Quality - Paint was coming out and was on the hand. Rooms were not at par with other sonesta's suites Car Parking Charges - Hugely Parking charges from Customer does not make sense. Food - All Sonesta's provide complementary Food but this location does not provide anything .
"2nd Conference as great as the first"
This is the second time we bring our two day conference to the Sonesta, and we were again very happy with the results. Frank and Manuel are amazing during the event, and the rest of the team (Princess, Marita, etc)) made everything really easy for in the planning stages. The food was again very tasty just like the first time. Ready for #3 next year!
"Still here / Can't wait to leave "
This is our 3rd stay at the Sonesta. We chose this location and Coconut Grove for our 10 year anniversary because of our relaxing getaways in the past. Our last stay was 4-5 years ago. Seconds before booking the hotel, my wife asked me to confirm our choice, rhetorically asking how I would feel if the Sonesta had been run down since our previous stay. I jokingly told her that it's not like we were there in the 60's. Oh, how she was right. One step past the lobby and it was evident that the hotel has devolved. The carpets in our hallway (18th floor) look barely sufficient for section 8 housing. Filthy. Huge bleach stains. The rooms have lost their freshness in appearance. Dirty carpet. Minor stains everywhere. A kitchenette that I would have to re clean to be able to use. Our first day here showed an added security presence. (Officer in the lobby, officer at the pool) Totally unclear as to why the added presence is necessary. Apparently, there is now a sign-in procedure at the pool''' The pool boy, who is half a dimwit, and who wouldn't remember your face if you tipped him $1,000, has, multiple times, asked me to sign in again moments after doing so. He also yelled at me from across the pool, thinking that I was taking my pool towel up to the room. This was in front of other guests and was quite embarrassing. The (original) pool chair pads are stained black with human funk. I've seen no evidence of any poolside service (drinks), let alone the accommodating service we've received in the past. Relaxing in the room and watching tv is a blast, as the screen reads "no signal" about every 90 seconds. I'm not exaggerating. I'm also not going to even bother asking management to resolve this. It is still customary for housekeeping to knock and identify themselves before entry, right' Today our housekeeper just entered the room as we were laying on the bed. No warning whatsoever. As I went for my morning walk, I found a huge marijuana joint on the floor of the lobby. I was unaware that we were vacationing in East St. Louis. I picked it up and set it on the front desk in front of the night auditor. No apology. She just wanted to know it's origin. It is becoming increasingly clear that this is not the clean, affordable hotel that it once was. It's a bummer that I've given this place rave reviews in the past. We still have two more days of stay in this 20 story disappointment. At least the Grove hasn't changed.
Sonesta Coconut Grove is an amazing hotel, I have recommended to several family and friends. Location is perfect, close by all the main attractions. Room has nice views as well. The food at the restaurant is great, Staff is caring and helpful. They are there for your assistance and convince.... Valet was nice. Loved how I could rely on the front desk staff at any hour. Isabel was helpful during the afternoons, very polite and professional, at night Nathalie was helpful as well.. made us feel welcomed and answered any questions/concerns that my family and I had Overall great service and experience
"Another Great Stay!"
We have stayed at the Sonesta Coconut Grove, many many times and always have a wonderful time! Everyone is so friendly it feels like family. It is not a resort hotel though. We go to the beach on Key Biscayne which is a short drive away. The pool is small with gorgeous views! The restaurant is very good with the same views as the pool. The entire Staff is very attentive and friendly! Love the neighborhood! Good restaurants and fun shops steps away. We will return next Christmas 2017 and already have reservations!!!!!
