The Sonesta offers a great resort experience and provides great service and a range of amenities. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The common areas are well kept but the rooms could do with a bit of updating. The rooms are comfortable but the air conditioning leaked a lot which meant one of the walls and desk area was continuously wet. Whilst located a short distance from the main city, it's actually very accessible and easy to get to by cab.
"Didn't like it"
I came for business and I won't be back. It's not clean. Installations need a mayor overhaul. Internet its slow enough that you won't be able to work productively. Check in service was good and the employees made a big effort to make you feel good. I had a nice balcony room, but the view was sad. Honestly, I will recommend you try another choice.
"Excellent service. Great rooms and views."
This is the 2nd time we've stayed here and it has yet to disappoint. In Los Morros (10 mins taxi ride from the old walled city/15 from Bocagrande) which is probably it's only drawback. But what you loose in terms of travelling you gain in quality of rooms, 2 pools, fitness centre, spa, tranquillity, quality of food, promptness and politeness of service abd staff and proximity to the beach (not the most beautiful beach but decent nonetheless).
"Relax in Style"
I stayed this weekend 3 days in the Sonesta Cartagena hotel, and I had the best time. Modern room with sea view and a balcony, big bathroom! Breakfast in the morning was the best, a buffet and they even make you eggs or arepa de huevo on request! A local must when you are in Cartagena! We enjoyed the 2 pools and direct access to the beach was a plus to see the sunset! I will stay here again!
"Nothing really special"
This place is located out near the airport, good for the nbeach and kite surfing. It costs a reasonable 15,000COP for a taxi into the city. The hotel is newish and is built in a style that, in theory, would maximise the view and loaction. However it feels like a goldfish bowl, rooms in front of miine spoiling my sea view, new hotel being built to the right, builders looking into your room....its a shame. I have never felt so overlooked in my life, if you are an exhibitionist, you would love it. Big windows for all to see everything that goes on in the big rooms. The breakfast was ok, nothing special. The breakfast room was a bit small and felt crowded, weird as the place is massive. Service was ok, nothing outstanding and no complaints really, but I wont be going back unless I know a group of supermodals are staying in the rooms in front of mine.....
