The Splendid Nice Hotel is located right in the centre of Nice| in a privileged location just 400 metres from the beach.
"Good location, decent spa, old rooms"
The location is good - about 10 minute walk to the old town and just up a couple blocks from the beach. It is a quiet area at night, but still cafés, shops, etc. within walking distance. The room itself was old - very old. Bed was comfortable and there was plenty of room for my things. The bathroom was large, but needs a serious update. It also could have been cleaner (I found a pubic hair in the tub!) The spa is nice - 15 euro gets you 45 minutes of hot tub and sauna to yourself. The gym is just a small room - one treadmill, one bike (which didn't work) - some weights (not heavy ones, just light ones), exercise ball, some bands and mats, and that is about it. I think there can only really be three people in there comfortably at the same time. I didn't eat the breakfast - too many nice cafés in walking distance. I did go upstairs to the bar (where breakfast is served) to get a drink and found it quite depressing. The pool looked sad. Would I stay here again' No, I don't think so. I don't feel it was a good value for the price.
My husband and I stayed for 3 nights in mid September and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Splendid. It's a very convenient hotel for a base in Nice, being a couple of minutes walk from the beach and the Promenade des Anglais, less than 10 minutes from Place Massena and about 10 minutes to the Old Town. The hotel itself is smart, clean and comfortable and in all our dealings with members of staff, they were helpful and friendly. Our room, (605) , a superior double with balcony, was nicely appointed, a fair size with ample storage and a good-sized bathroom with both a shower cabinet and a jacuzzi bath. The large balcony caught the sun in the afternoon and evening and it was pleasant to sit on it to watch the sun go down. Housekeeping were super, keeping the bathroom well stocked with toiletries and fresh towels and making up the room Immaculately eqch day. There are tea/coffee making facilities in the room too, as well as a pay as you use minibar. The weather was lovely when we visited an we made good use of the rooftop terrace and pool. There are loungers around the pool and on the upper terrace and as people came and went during the day, it was possible to get one on most occasions. Otherwise, there are lovely seating areas to sit and enjoy the sunshine as well as a jacuzzi on the deck. We ate lunch here one day, choosing the mixed tapas (fish and cold meats) between the two of us. Cost was around 19 euros but left us both full and it was delicious. We also had drinks on the upper terrace one evening and it was a lovely setting and quite romantic! We didn't dine in the restaurant though we wished we had one evening after a poor meal in town, but it was always pretty busy for both breakfast and dinner. We had a late flight but were able to leave our bags at reception and make the most of our day in Nice. An added bonus was the shower room on the ground floor near reception where we could freshen up, with toiletries and towels provided, before our flight home. All in all, we had a lovely stay at the Splendid, I'd recommend it to anyone and we'll definitely visit again.
"Un sejour some dude a hotel spendide"
This is my fourth visit here. Myself and my father love nice area and whenever I book our holiday to nice, I only choose this hotel. The hotel is fantastic value for a 4 star hotel and location is ideal..it is quieter location than the promenade des anglais but close to the beach and station. During out stay, we found out the chef had left leaving the sous chef and chef de partie to care for the kitchen until the new chef started. Nevertheless, they did very well...the lamb and gratin dauphinous was exquisite. The breakfast was good as well and they even served baked beans for the English!! Also, for those who appreciate fine German beer, the bar serves paulaner, and during the happy hour, 2 pints cost 8 euros! We hope to return next year.
We checked into this hotel on Friday 23rd September after having been very disappointed, uncomfortable and unable to remain in the apartment we had booked privately. Lily and Thierry greeted us on arrival and gave us a choice of room, which Thierry very kindly escorted us to view. The staff were excellent and Thierry freely offered us advice on places to visit and directions to the local transport facilities. This hotel offers everything possible that you would expect from a four star. The rooms are spotless, the food is excellent and the location is ideally situated, just a short stroll to the beach. This was our third visit to Nice and when we return we will definitely stay at the Splendid.
"Very good, clean, comfortable Hotel in the heart of Nice"
It was our two day trip to nice and we wanted a splendid Hotel and got that. Very good and comfortable bed, clean room, splendid room. A magnificent roof terrace with a good bar! The only old thing is the bathroom still good but a bit old and in need of renovation. If you ask me if I would stay there again I would answer definitely again! Next time we come we will stay there definitely and hopefully enjoy the spa as well...
