"One nights stay"
A lovely stay at this hotel. Our view was out onto apartments which was not so pretty to look at. All else nice. Restaurant location perfect, food excellent and staff attentive. The hotel is in a nice location but far from most attractions.
"Thoughtful staff, amazing views"
We stayed at the St George for the first couple nights of our honeymoon in Greece and had a WONDERFUL stay. My husband contacted them ahead with a few questions about travel from the airport and in the course of conversation mentioned it was our honeymoon and they surprised us with champagne and a sweet note when we checked in. Our room had a great view of the city and the Acropolis- and a window we could have opened but didn't figure out how until we were leaving. Room was clean and quiet which was great while we adjusted to the time difference. The roof pool was very modern and chic, and the terrace for the breakfast buffet had fantastic views for the sunrise. Food for the breakfast spread was great and had a lot of options- good mix of local breakfast options and for out of town folks with unadventurous palates. We didn't have time to eat at the hotel restaurant but heard good things from folks at the pool. It looked like the hotel had intriguing activities throughout the week including children's movie showings for families. Lycabettus is one of the big hill/mountains in Athens and the hotel is a ways up that hill. By day 2 we were plotting trips toward the tourist spots with the fewest possible returns to the hotel so that we were spending less time hiking up the street or paying for cabs, but the views you get in exchange are absolutely worth it. We'd never visited Athens before so we were keen to see everything we could anyway. Staff really was so helpful with suggestions for unique restaurants and sights, and I was so distracted getting ready for the next phase of our trip that we checked out of room and hiked up to the chapel at the top of Lycabettus for lunch and we left our passports in the safe! When we returned after lunch for our luggage and to grab a cab, staff had already retrieved it and recognized that they were mine the minute we walked inside before I'd even realized what we were missing.
"Aegeo Spas "
I had an excellent experience in the spa with an Ancient Greek Massage. The staff was very kind and very experienced. They welcome you with a beverage followed by time in the steam room, shower and a wonderful massage. Highly Recommended. Thank you Christina :)
"great view but not 5 star"
We stayed in 2 different pairs of rooms on successive weekends. Each had a great view of the Acropolis but both were dated and tatty, especially the second. The bathrooms all leaked somewhere and were not particularly well arranged, with towels hung almost out of reach above a bidet. The rooms were not spacious, mostly because they were filled with awkward pieces of useless furniture. Rather than being rooms linked by a simple door, they each contained conference room style moveable walls, which were not very moveable because of the furniture. The rooms were not well sound proofed. The food at breakfast and dinner was all right but not great. All minor stuff that I would forgive in somewhere not marketing itself as 5 star, so go and enjoy the view, but go with more limited expectations of the hotel itself.
"Nice hotel - but pool out of order"
The location of the hotel is good and the view is fantastic from the terrace. It is a nice walk to the old town (the weather was 20-22 degrees when we where there). Breakfast was okay, not fantastic, but they have a really nice spa area. Sadly when we were there, the pool was not working- for all of the 3 days :-( This was something we had really looked forward to (meaning the kids). So I would advice you to mail in advance and make sure that the pool is working, if this is a major part of your choosing the hotel. But apart from that, we found the staff very friendly and very professional. I would also recommend the hotel for a couples trip- as there are very nice and cozy restaurants and shops in the near vecinity.
