"Wonderful Visit to beautiful St Regis"
Wonderful 3 days stay at the St Regis on Saadiyat Island enroute to the Seychelles. We travelled with our two young children & had a twin room, which was really large & had two double beds! So perfect for us. Loads of amenities, including fab toiletries & the bathroom was enormous & stretched the length of the room with two sets of sinks, handy for us & a bath tub so deep you could literally float in it! Breakfast was vast & Buffett style & heaps of choice from fresh fruit, pancakes to eggs to order. It was very busy when you sat inside so we preferred a table outside over looking the immaculate grounds. We were out every day at Ferrari World, Mosque, Yas Water World etc so chose to eat in the hotel every night. My husband bought vouchers from the Entertainer website in Abu Dhabi & we got 2 for 1 on main meals in all the restaurants. Which was super useful if you want a Wagu beef steak at £60 a pop!! The Buffett in the evening was ok, nothing super special to be honest! We much preferred Sontaya where we had a table outside overlooking the beach & some amazing Asian Fusion food. We also loved 55 & 5th steakhouse, which had a live jazz singer & amazing food! Very pricey but superb quality & the Entertainer vouchers certainly assisted the bill. The pool & grounds were vast & really well kept & the beach was stunning, far too hot for us to stay on it for long, was 38 degrees when we visited but loads of couples seemed to be enjoying the luxurious soft sunbeds. We stayed at the Shangri La on the creak last time we visited but this hotel seemed a click above! It was really lovely & the staff super helpful to all our various queries. Would thoroughly recommend a stay here.
"Luxurious relaxation as only the St. Régis can do!"
We live in Abu Dhabi but decided on a "stay-cation" at the St. Régis on Saadiyat Island and were completely won over by this beautiful resort. So much so that we can't wait to return for a longer stay! We ate at Sontoya and had a wonderful dinner outside when the Abu Dhabi temperatures are still reasonable for outdoor seating.
"Luxurious stay, the pictures sell it all!"
Wow, what luxury, from the pools to the view to the decor. We went at ramadan, it was very very quiet but it made it even more peaceful. It's definitely a place to go to where you just want to chill out. The food in the buffet was really quite poor though, some things too fancy and not accommodating to all, other things too basic. However, the seafood place on the beach was amazing so we ate there the rest of the time (changed our half board to a price voucher for that). The pool staff were so friendly and there was one guy that had obviously hurt his leg and was limping but he was the nicest of them all, I wish I could have given him a big tip just for him to keep. Always smiling! Simple things make your stay even better hey!
"Relaxing Stay at St Regis Saadiyat Island"
We stayed at St Regis for 8 days over Easter. This is a lovely relaxing hotel. This was our first stay in Abu Dhabi and it is like the old Dubai of 20 years ago before it was overbuilt. Our 7th floor Oceanview Superior room had 2 queen beds and an enormous bathroom which was perfect for 2 adults and our 13 year old son. Breakfast is a huge buffet with a tremendous selection of foods. We booked bed & breakfast as it seemed the best option and made sure we had an SPG loyalty card before we arrived as you get 20% off all food. Lunch choices are poolside bar or Turquoise depending on what you prefer. Dinner is buffet at Olea - good choice but bit samey if go more than a couple of nights. Sontaya the asian restaurant was good. Turquoise is a great location on the beach with good menu and music. Our favourite restaurant by far was 55 & 5th steakhouse - the most amazing steaks we have ever eaten - it is expensive but worth it. Overall prices similar to Dubai for food & drinks. There is a supermarket just across from the hotel that is well stocked (not alcolhol) for snacks and more things and a pharmacy. Plenty of sun loungers by the pools and on the beach. The beach is stunning and the sea is clear and warm. There is a good & secure kids club for children up to age 12. The main thing lacking with this hotel is a chill out lounge for 13+ age group. It was too hot for football on the beach so really not much for teenagers to do which was disappointing. Abu Dhabi city or Yas Island 15 minute taxi drive so you can have a look around. The only other hotel on Saadiyat Island at the moment is The Hyatt so if you want to eat elsewhere you have to go into town. There is construction further along the beach at the moment but currently nothing affecting St Regis as the golf course that wraps around the hotel keeps it far enough away. The staff were really friendly and helpful. We will certainly go back.
"Service issues "
I am here at St. Regis al saadiyat at the moment to enjoy the long weekend. I have to say that our last visit was much better and the service did not meet our expectations today. First incident was when we went by the pool with our toddler, gave our room number to the guard and he told us go towards the end of the pool saying we will find his collegue who will help us get sunbeds. We took our son and went there to find out that there is no place and that we had to wait, question is; if there is no capacity why let us go all the way there, we could have went to the sandcastle first. Took us like 15 mins to get the sunbeds which was fine by then. Afterwards we wanted to order some food it took them like 30 mins to come and take the order, I had to call them and go the bar multiple times. After food we went to the beach, came back to shower our son in the public showers near the bar, and found out there were no towels! We had to put him back in the pool in order to wait for the towels whick took 20 mins! Hope you guys check your capacity and ability to serve all the people that are coming to you to spend a good time.
