"Shame about the construction work"
Noisy and disruptive construction work spoiled this trip. Will not be finished until August 2017. Otherwise, perfectly okay hotel though the location is not for the faint hearted since it's on one of the steepest hills in San Fran!
Pretty cool hotel with in a great location. Rooms were spacious and walking distance to many must-see things in San Francisco, especially the Regency Ballroom, which was our reason to be in San Francisco.
"Renovations are underway, but plenty nice"
Everyone on the staff is very helpful, and this property is in a great location. Stayed for work 4 nights and was pleased. Clean comfy room for one person, good breakfast are provided on floor 6. Bikes available for trips, just ask the desk. It's right in the cable car line, which is charming. If you don't mind the bell, which I didn't. It's nice to be able to walk down the hill for dining and then catch the cable car back up to California St when you're done. Would stay again. I'm sure the renovation is going to be nice.
"Great staff, wouldn't recommend the room"
We stayed 5 nights at the hotel. All staff at the hotel were very accommodating and professional, acting on any complaints / questions we had with immediate effect. Unfortunately the room wasn't so great - we had to remove the duvet cover due to a spillage and found that the duvet itself was spotted all over with blood. I can't even imagine what the policy is to the cleaning staff to keep duvets with dried blood on them, you'd think they'd be advised to remove them immediately. The room was also fairly warn, with a big gouge out of the bed headboard which had brownish stains around it (who knows what..). On our first full day the cleaner didn't arrive till 4pm - by which point we were back from a day's worth of activities. The bath was also ancient and would drain as you filled it. We tried to have a bath with our baby (as he's too young for a shower) and kept the tap on the whole time because the water level dropped so fast! Final comment is more of a bugbear regarding payments - we were asked to pay approx $20 a day for internet use. I've not stayed in a hotel for a long while that has charged for this. Despite the lovely staff, this hotel was a real rip off for the cost (I do realise this is San Fran..) and I was really very unimpressed with the bloody duvet.
"Stanford Court Stay"
Overall beautiful hotel. The rooms do require some updating. Very clean. Housekeeping staff were good at their jobs. Great location for a hotel. Definitely would revisit this hotel for future stays in San Francisco.
