"Ok for business travel but not luxe"
I suppose that if you are not used to grand hotels or if you just want to be central or if you are on business - you could stay here. We had fled this hotel many years ago in favour of the Villa Kennedy, (recommended), but decided to give the Frankfurter Hof another try. It's been under new management for close to ten years. We were upgraded thanks to AMEX, but upgraded to a suite that had a carpet so dirty that it could have been in a kennel. The room had been heavily sprayed, the reason for which became clear as the heavy scent cleared - frankly, the odor was so bad that we were close to checking out. On the plus side - an extremely efficient and helpful duty manager changed our accommodation to a recently renovated and good suite. Who knew that there was such a difference' Hint - check the room before you accept the accommodation. Food service was indifferent. Small menu, unimaginative food indifferently prepared. The staff vary in efficiency from highly trained professional to almost completely untrained in hospitality. Internet service is not good. For a city the size and importance of Frankfurt, it's sad that this hotel represents its top spot, because it is definitely not up to the job.
"Broken heating not fixed, slept in clothes 😬"
Stopped for one night and when I checked in early (reception staff very good) but the heating system would only blow cold. I asked for it to be looked at 2 pm at but clearly it wasn't, slept in my clothes....not what you expect for a Euro 299 per night room. They offered me a free breakfast as an apology, but why you want is some heating. I think the room stat was broken so it just blew more cold into the room. Rest of the hotel was warm Don't think that my two messages were ever passed onto the maintenance team. I won't stop there again. Everything else was fine (packet of mini bar crisps €6.40 but then you don't have to eat them.....unless you are very hungry!!)
"Very high price for very average rooms"
We have booked and paid 12 rooms for three nights at a price over 1600 Euro each of which we used only 10 rooms. My room was next to a service lift which seemed to operate over night with very annoying noise - so sleeping was difficult. Also the temperature was certainly 5 degrees too hot and could not be regulated to lower. When I finally slept, the fire alarm went off and we had to evacuate to the street at around 5 in the morning. After 30 minutes it turned out to be false alarm but it was too late to get back to a good rest. The next working day was tough after a nearly sleepless night. There were NOT ANY excuses or compensations for this trouble by the hotel management !!! In other words we paid over 500 Euro for a sleepless night. I moved to another room away from the service lift for the remaining two nights. It was quite there. Bathroom was very primitive, like a 1970's standard. One has to shower in a narrow bathtub with the shower head hanging loose so that it was very inconvenient and not pleasant at all. Four of us asked for a late check out on the last day due to a late flight. We had to seriously discuss with the reception - initially they did not want to do that. Despite having paid two rooms that we did not use and that were of course sold to others by the hotel they asked an ambitious price for checking out late. Thus we can not recommend this hotel. For us NEVER again. You find a lot better for a lot less elsewhere. With the saved money you can do plenty of taxi trips to the town center.
"Quality Hotel in Great Location"
We were fortunate to stay in the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof to be our German vacation. It is centrally located and near the best sights of Frankfurt. The hotel is elegant; the service staff accommodating, and the room well-appointed. The room's sitting area was large and comfortable, the bed provided us with a restful sleep, and the bathroom was modern with a digital thermostat for the shower that also had twinkling and changing colored lights. My only reservation was the expensive cost for the breakfast buffet; we ate a good, substantial breakfast across the street from the hotel at about 20 percent of the cost. Overall, this was one of the best hotels in which we stayed during our 25-day vacation in Germany.
Biggest issue is wifi. Intermittent in the room, restaurant & lobby. Kept disconnecting. This is inadequate for a business hotel near an airport. Room is comfortable, but only a shower & very small. Convenient to the airport.
