"good standard, location and value for money"
Stayed here for 3 nights with with my 32 year old daughter and her 15 month old baby. We normally stay at Pullman Schweizerhof or Swissotel, but Steigenberger is similar location but better value, with free wifi and free travel card included. 5 minute walk from Zoo station and buses, and half that from Kurfurstendamm Ubahn (U9).Just off the main drag hustle and bustle of Ku'Damm, it's quietly but centrally located with KaDeWe and Karstadt very close by. The hotel itself is pretty standard - not as good as Pullman Schweizerhof but a perfectly good standard with well furnished rooms and bathrooms and lovely comfy beds. The pool is a bonus and when we took the baby swimming at 3pm there were only 2 others there. There's also a sauna and fitness room. We requested 2 single beds and a cot for the baby and I expected the usual continental arrangement of a large double with 2 separate mattresses, but was amazed that we did have 2 proper singles - both incredibly comfy. We were also very pleased that the baby cot was a proper sturdy wooden one - not a mesh sided travel cot, and they provided a baby duvet and pillow, and baby shampoo and bath gel. Our room was on the sixth floor at the back, perfectly clean and very quiet - we never saw or heard any other guests on our floor. Guests appear to be mainly business types and its certainly not a family hotel, but we did not feel unwelcome. We can't comment on the food as we didn't eat at the hotel - peering into the restaurant as we passed by at night it looked pretty soul-less. And at 25 euros breakfast was not an option for us as independent travellers - had we been on business and company expenses it would have been fine. However, we found Cafe Clave and La Piadina, both round the corner in Augsburger Strasse, did lovely breakfast starting at 3.95 and there are plenty of restaurants, cafes and bakers nearby offering breakfast. Reception staff were very professional but friendly, check-in was easy and each guest receives an individual wifi code. No problems with wifi - worked fine throughout. The 'business centre' is just a small room with 2 pcs and a printer, where you can check in for your return flight online and print boarding passes etc. Its not the best hotel in Berlin but it's very good, and with the pool it competes very favourably. My only criticism would be that the towels could have been a bit softer, and there could have been a wider choice of english speaking TV channels (there's only BBC World News and CNN) and although we don't go away to watch TV it's nice to have the option of some UK programmes and maybe some childrens channels, especially if travelling with a baby means you're forced into early nights. So overall it's a very good hotel, not spectacular but perfectly pleasant and very satisfactory. We go to Berlin every year so will definitely consider staying there again next year - it's earned its place on our favourites list.
"Great hotel but should be 4 stars"
Me and my husband spent 4 nights at this hotel in October. The hotel itself is very big and well maintained. Our room was big, clean and very cozy! The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was superb - a big selection with everything you could wish for. Staff was very friendly and nice. The location of this hotel is awesome - just 1 minutes walk from all the restaurants and shops. We received a travel card which made our travel in Berlin much easier! My only complain will have to be about the little things - no pillow menu, no slippers, no English speaking channels. Nothing big but it's the little things that make you remember a place like this.
"Good hotel directly near Kurfurstendamm"
Nice hotel. - Television signal Wifi signal Price restaurant + Breakfast Food Quality Restaurant Attitude of personnel (very friendly and helpful) Overall good hotel, in the neighborhood of Berliner Zoo, Kurfurstendamm and Kaiser Wilhelm church.
"Very good location"
staff was very friendly and professional. The breakfast had different varieties of food. I did not like that it was always very crowded and I had to sit in the room outside the restaurant. I found not very practical. The location was very good.
We stayed here in September for the Berlin marathon. Hotel is in a good location, relatively central. It's a nice, business-type of hotel that was great for our needs that weekend. They were very accommodating to all the marathon runners
