"Convenient if traveling by train"
The hotel pretends to be a 4 star property, but as far as I could gather only the breakfast (very good!) and the modern bathroom qualify. The relatively small rooms are tired looking with old smallish TV screens and outmoded furniture. And two rather small elevators for a hotel with 130 rooms or so - which on top accepts tour bus groups - are not enough.
"Convenient location next to Frankfurt Main Station"
The best feature about this hotel is that it is literally across the street from the Frankfurt Main Station (north exit). So convenient if you have to take the train to the airport the next day. The room was kind of dirty. I had to ask for a new pillow because there was a short, thick black hair and some gunk crusted onto it. The bathroom corners are brownish, caked with dirt, but grunginess seems to be a trend with Frankfurt Main Station hotels. The carpet had some stains on it. I stepped somewhere that was kinda wet and I'm hoping that it's because my shoes were wet. The towels and linens had a yellow tinge to them that gave the impression that it was quite old. The check-in form was pretty antiquated, where instead of saying "secondary guest" it said "wife," as if the only way to travel is where the secondary guest is a wife. This was the only hotel in Germany I've seen this at—all others ask for secondary guest information and make no assumptions about sex/gender or relationship status. The breakfast was ok. It was included with my stay but is listed at 20€. It was weird because they had some high-quality items like organic yoghurt in glass jars, but then the spinach they used on the eggs florentine appeared to be from frozen, and the bread they put it on was a low-quality white bread. Definitely not gourmet breakfast. Overall, this hotel is pretty good value for its location. It's right across from the Frankfurt Main Station.
"Great hotel in the centre of Frankfurt"
Centrally located and very convenient for pretty much anything you want to do. Parking is a bit of a headache and quite expensive. Breakfast is good and plentiful but the rooms are considerably less wow.
"My goto Hotel in Frankfurt"
Steigenberger has become my go to hotel for a night or two in Frankfurt and I frequently find myself in Frankfurt needing a place to sleep. I have reviewed the Steigenberger many times so there doesn't much new to say. I still enjoy the service, they always prep a room for me when I arrive at check-in. Breakfast is very good and is served by waitstaff. All in all, a very nice experience. Very convenient to the train station, of course. Anybody who doesn't rate Steigenberger has become my go to hotel for a night or two in Frankfurt and I frequently find myself in Frankfurt needing a place to sleep. Breakfast is very good and is served by waitstaff. All in all, a very nice experience. You can't get any closer to the train station which is an ultra high requirement for me. Anyone who fails to rate Steigenberger Metropolitan 5 stars is lucky since they have obviously never stayed in an NH Collection hotel. NH Collection absolutely abhors customer service. Sorry no pictures, but not much has changed. For pics, see my prior reviews.
Coming to celebrate a family event before taking different trains from the convieniently near main station, we booked a table in advance but had the bad luck that there was a special venue in the basement , which kept the staff and, far more worse, the kitchen so much occupied, that the quality of the food and the timeliness of the service were well below the standards of a hotelrestaurant of that category. We had to ask for bread while waiting for the first course, the kitchen did not heed stated allergies , the lobster was cooked too long and apparently placed under a heatlamp, as it came dry as a bone. Sidedishes to a course were forgotten In sum : dont go if you know there is a a bigger group being entertained. They should close the restaurant for Other guests on those occasions, as they Clearly dont have enough staff.
