"Great experience "
Originally booked a different hotel, took 2am bus to NYC from Boston to get to that hotel at 630am to rude staff and no reservations, so we searched area for hotels and came across the Stewart, the price was really fair and location was ideal, so we decided to book a room. After having a completely frustrating morning and being up all night with no sleep I was feeling pretty miserable, until I stepped in the Stewart and was greated by Eugenia at the front desk, and that's where everything changed from bad to great. She was very accommodating, friendly and it was a farcry for experience we had with the other hotel, right then we new we made the right choice. The rooms were clean, the house keeping staff was extremely friendly offering warm gestures and nice smiles, the Stewart saved the trip. I would gladly stay again next time I come to the big Apple and will recommend my friends and family too as well. Thanks again Eugenia and the rest of staff of the Stewart Hotel
"Excellent Hospitality and Location"
This hotel is very convenient to Penn Station. The hospitality specifically from Zoe is always incredible. This is not the first time I stayed at the Stewart (formerly Affinia) and every time ensures where I will be staying when I come back.
"Fantastic Hotel "
We spent a week over New Year at the Stewart Hotel (recently changed name & ownership from The Affinia Group - Manhattan NYC)... little bit cheeky that TripAdvisor have kept the previous reviews seeing that it's a new entity! The hotel is in a great location next to Madison Square Garden with Penn station right underneath as well as Times Square a 5/10 minute walk up one straight road. We found that most things, seeing as the majority of the sites are in midtown, were easily within walking distance and a Metro downtown for the 9/11 site, Statue of Liberty etc. was very easy to do too. We'd booked a guest suite and enjoyed a large room with balcony although the bathroom is tiny as many of the reviews state. We had no issues with the room other than the noise (we were on the 24th floor) which it took us two days to get used to - there's a church two doors away which rings its bells at 7am - reverberating through the whole hotel! Top tips: - You're supposed to leave a one/two dollar tip for the maid each day, being from England this was new to us and we were only enlightened to when the guidebook on the plane informed us. If the porter takes your luggage, you're also supposed to hand over $1 a bag. - There's a bagel shop a couple of doors down on the Dunkin' Doughnuts side of the hotel which was great for a quick breakfast and very reasonably priced. The 'R' cafe across the road from it is also a great option with buffets, meals etc. offering a huge selection. - Times Square, Radio City, Rockefeller Center and Broadway are all a brisk 5/10 minute walk north. The Empire State Building and Flat Iron are 10 minutes East. - There are so many different souvenir shops offering similar goods at very different prices and you're guaranteed to want to bring something home but we found 'Grand Slam' in Times Square was the cheapest significantly. - We must have done every site on any tourist 'to do' list during the week that we were there and should have taken advantage of the $31 unlimited Metro card in retrospect. I'd also highly recommend Lonely Planet's New York guidebook which details the whole of New York in a pocket sized book. It contained history, tips, recommendations and a huge number of maps of local areas so you can see where you are without having to battle a large map and make use of their recommended routes to hit all the sites!
"New Year in Time Square"
Check in was quick, efficient and staff were friendly. Room was described as 'petite'.and we weren't disappointed. However it had everything we needed and once we had settled in it was perfect. Perfect location for exploring New York with many of the iconic attractions within walking distance. Check out the bar and restaurant attached to the hotel. Staff were fantastic. Would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay again but possible not in the petite room.
"Best Management Staff...Stewart Hotel Manager Day & Night!!!"
I've stayed in many hotels over my visits to New York. I always have a problem at a hotel whether the room is too small or the service isn't great. Staying at the Stewart Hotel gave me a new sense of Customer Service during the night my room was too hot... I called and spoke to Joanne the overnight manager and she moved me right away. They even provide me a humidifier to make my stay better. This I didn't expect. The next morning, I received a call from a manager, Jessica she said she was just checking to make sure everything was okay and if the room was more comfortable. The room was still hot and she set me up to move again. The next room was great it was complimentary upgrade. Very nice suite lots of space... A handwritten apology note for having to move twice with red wine was a great touch. Thank you Joanne and Jessica I will come back to New York and only stay at the Stewart Hotel!!!!
