"Overnight Central London - ok for quick stay "
An overnight business trip and so didn't spend a lot of time on the room. Room was a bit tired on the walls but they have clearly tried to keep it looking tip top. Room was quiet (965) on the top floor right at end of corridor and I slept well. Bathroom clean and tidy with cool free shower gel etc We had a few drinks in the Gin Bar which was nice. The reception staff were friendly and it was a quick check in and out. The breakfast was busy (had to queue a few minutes) and the staff seemed a bit hassled for 7am !! Food was ok. For £169 a night not cheap and quite forgettable but not awful. I prefer a clean and modern Premier Inn for less money.
"Indian Afternoon Tea"
What an absolutely lovely afternoon! I visited here for the first time on 24th April with my family to celebrate my 21st birthday. We went for the Indian Afternoon Tea menu which was served in the Lounge Bar. I can't sing it's praises enough the food was so yummy, as an Indian myself I had high expectations and they definitely delivered! The food is very filling which you don't usually find with an Afternoon Tea so I was impressed. The hotel is gorgeous and Danait our server was so lovely and kind she even brought out a special birthday dessert for me! Would highly recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to try Afternoon Tea in London.
"Ladies who lunch"
Had a pre theatre lunch here with friends. This was not the first time we have been here as it is so close to theatres along the Strand. The food here is very good and very good value. However our only criticism is that there are not enough vegetables to choose from at the Carvery. There were three types of potatoes, carrots, red cabbage and broccoli. Compared to a Toby Carvery where there are usually two types of potatoes and four or more other vegetables, the Strand Palace Carvery is a bit lacking. Having said that, the beef, which we all had was sliced like steaks but was still succulent and melt in the mouth. The salad bar as a starter was amazing and to be honest we could have filled our plates time and again from here. We only had two courses, so cannot comment on the deserts.
"Excellent Carvery with delightful service"
Yesterday ten of us visited this hotel for lunch in the Carvery. Just to add to the excitement the fire alarms went off on our arrival, with the fire engine turning up to check out the situation. We only had to wait for about fifteen minutes, but we have always been very happy with the food and service so we waited at the front of the hotel. When The alll clear was given, one of the staff showed us round the side, which is the quickest way into the Carvery. Our table was ready on arrival and everything was perfect as it always is. Cristian was our waiter and as usual, we were well looked after. The food and service are always worth making the effort to get to this venue for. The food is always very fresh and well presented. The service is always kind, professional and attentive but not over the top. All my guests enjoyed the experience and I will be back as soon as I am in London again. Thank you for your most excellent service, it is very much appreciated.
"Enjoyable stay "
I visited London and stayed at this hotel with my son in April though I had read some bad reviews and I was dubious about booking it ! I thought the hotel was really nice and clean and the staff were friendly enough ! I did make the mistake of reserving breakfast at €13 per person at check-in for two mornings! It was very nice (buffet style) but on leaving the hotel we noticed the cafe next door did a full English for only €6 ! .... otherwise a really good hotel. London is very expensive anyway.
