"A Hidden Gem"
The decor is modern retro. It's history is in rock and roll. It's close to sunset strip. The grounds are well landscaped and the rooms are well appointed. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There is turndown service. There is a bar and a restaurant and an outside pool.
"The O.G. Option.."
All other so called 'rock n roll hotels'..including the Hard Rock chain need to simply bow down and praise the Sunset Marquis. It is as much part of music history amd lore as Eric Claptons guitars.. Amazing oasis and a chilled laid back vibe. Great bar. Great restaurant. Villlas are great if you can get a good rate. The revamp a few years ago was needed and welcome..and its starting to look like,it need another one. Standard rooms are a bit gloomy. Its only 4 star but ignore that..its the best place in WeHo by a country mile if you like music. Much better than Chateau Marmont..which is mire of a film vibe..and up itself.. SM..long may it run..
If you're hip and want to stay at a old Hollywood hot spot this is the Hotel for you. It's located in a Hollywood neighborhood wright off of Sunset and walking distance to many restaurants & even the world famous comedy club. The rooms are large and in charge with all the amenities.
"Cozy haven in the center of West Hollywood"
Stayed two nights here to usher the new year and was pleasantly surprised. Location is great: a few steps away from Mel's and Equinox, right in the heart of trendy West Hollywood, yet quiet and neighborly, it's ideal to feel home away from home. Staff is super friendly! They talk to you like they've known you for a while and give them their personal insight on all things. Rooms are spacious and well-appointed. The design is not as sharp as it could be (we're nearing a Marriott situation here) but the landscaped grounds amply make up for it. The bar and restaurants are wonderful. There's no gym at the hotel, but your stay gives you access to nearby Equinox gym, which is perfect. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!
"Historic rockers hotel still rocks (quietly)"
The Sunset Marquis celebrated 50 years a few years back and is renowned for the history of artists, particularly British rock stars, who have stayed there on tours from the UK. This is the fourth hotel we have tried in LA on several visits and looks like one we may actually want to return to if we can. We were there just before Christmas, which seemed a strangely quiet time of year. Great for us! We are in our 60s so can identify closely with the music of the bands like The Rolling Stones, although we learnt Sir Mick Jagger preferred somewhere more upmarket, The Who and Jeff Beck. The great mix of the music history and the peaceful oasis this hotel is, at the end of a dead end road, was quite brilliant. Best accommodation is in the quiet villas at the back.
