"Not ideal if you need a fridge"
The room was big room with useful furnishings but the lighting was seriously dim. It was not easy to read my combination lock with all the lights in the room on. One of my criteria was a fridge with this hotel indicates it has in the room when booking. The fridge doesn't work sufficient to chill a drink properly and that's considered normal when you ask the front desk about it. It was ok to get ice at first then became a major source of grief. Room info says call housekeeping for ice but it is very hard to communicate by phone, being confused with “ice cream” most often. It was easier to go to front desk who would send you to the restaurant who would give you one cup of ice and tell you they would have to charge for more. The manager was not available to resolve this. He was at a conference with no alternative suggested as to who might help. Basically, you are on your own. The front desk just look at you. The buffet breakfast was excellent with eggs cooked to order by a very pleasant chef. The gym had an excellent selection weight machines as well as the usual cardio machines and free weights. Towels are water were available. The strange part was the gym hours - midday to 2am! Most mornings I went down early and was able to enter, turn on the lights and machines and work out with no problem. One morning it was locked and took a while for the front desk to arrange to open it. It was very hot in the gym even though it was almost winter – not ideal for a workout. It was cool outside being almost winter but the lobby was over heated, meaning you had to strip off the outer layers very quickly when you entered from outside. There was a random combination of toiletries each day. No conditioner was provided but there was most other standard stuff. The English skills at the front desk were sufficient for the basics but poor for anything out of the ordinary. The location is excellent. You can walk or take the metro to most of the popular tourist attractions. Bus 111 stops right outside and will take you directly to the zoo for just 2 yuan – much more convenient than having to change lines on the metro. “Merry Home” opposite the hotel was good for basic, tasty food. There are a number of convenience stores nearby, most with chilled soft drink and beer which is not always the case in Beijing. The wifi was ok but it could not cope with downloading maps, constantly failing to do something that took a minute or so once we were able to use the free wifi in hong kong. I would recommend this hotel unless a fridge is critical. Note that it can be hard to get cold drinks around Beijing in general. Most shops have their fridges turned off as locals don't like cold drinks.
just a few minutes walk to the centre so realy convenient and if you must there is a macdonalds just up the street in the opposite direction comfortable room thankfully at the back so nice and quiet usual breakfast style breakfast on the ground floor but look at for others pushing in if you want an omelette or soft fried egg
"lovely family hotel"
this hotel is very pleasant. The staff at the desk are very helpful. The room is comfortable and the breakfast is very good. The location is excellent. I highly recommend this hotel. It is not luxurious but the value per price is very good.
"Good location, dated hotel"
Close to metro and Walking street, many shops and restaurants close by. Hotel is old and needs to be refurnished. Staff are helpful and try their best. Reasonable price for what you get. Shower is ok with hot water, air con works and set at right temperature. We ordered non smoking room and it was!
"Good location, dated room"
We stayed for 3 night during October 2016, check-in staff did speak English and booked us in quickly and efficiently. Staff however seemed very subdued, very few smiles or personality. Front desk arranged any taxi's for you, very safe and cheap to get around the city and back to the airport. The rooms are dated and dull, ceilings felt very low to me and I am no giant. Bathroom was adequate and clean, bed seemed a little hard at first but was actually comfortable, linen was fresh. The hotel is very easy to locate and well positioned. Walk left and left out of the hotel and you are on Wangfujing, one of the most popular streets for shopping. Here you can also sample some of the street food if you dare (some of its still moving) and the colourful market stalls. We were on tours during the day, and tended to be out and about in the evening so really only slept at the hotel. The breakfast was perfectly acceptable, I tended to opt for a fresh omelette or fruit, but there was a selection of western and Chinese options available. If we visit Beijing again we would pay a little more and opt for one of the more historic hotels. All things considered, the hotel offered very good value, but it just felt like a place to sleep.
