"Great hotel in the city center!"
I really liked this hotel. The rooms are nice and clean, the wifi works well and the breakfast is extensive. The other plus side to this hotel is that it is very convenient to the tourist attractions. The hotel is also very reasonable at like $85 a night. I highly suggest this hotel if you are visiting Beijing.
"Family Hotel stay"
We stayed here for a two night stop over whilst visiting Beijing on the 72 'no visa' rule recently. Whilst perfectly nice, clean and adequate this is a generically good hotel, clean and comfortable but nothing special to be honest. It served our purposes perfectly well, staff were polite and good but not exceptional. They served a good breakfast which tried to cater for Western tastes well (I wouldn't say that this was always a roaring success but the buffet is of a good wide variety and certainly of a good standard) We felt that considering Beijing is pretty inexpensive, this accommodation was quite pricey but can't really moan about anything. A perfectly decent clean place but nothing outstanding about it to write home about. Recommended but not to shout about.
"Pros and cons"
We stayed at Sunworld Dynasty for five nights and here is my impression: Pros--great location right on Wangfujing street, very nice rooms with showers and bathtubs, good value for the money, comfortable beds, clean, shuttle to airport stops right outside the hotel. Cons--really horrible breakfast if you are not Asian. Everything looked so unappealing. I ended up just eating the omelet and nothing else. the lobby had an overwhelming smell of potpourri or some other smell that hit you hard when you got off the elevator, there was a huge mixup with our reservation that I'm still not sure if it is corrected (granted, they worked hard to help me and were very nice). No air conditioning during the time we stayed. they told us that they don't turn it on this time of year, but it got to be 80 degrees when we were there. Would I stay again' Yes. It is really the best value and is in a great location. The pros outweigh the cons. Just wish we could have AC so we were more comfortable at night. Other than that, the staff was friendly and helpful, spoke good English, the rooms were very nice and comfortable and the location was terrific.
Hotel is a short 5-minute walk to Wangfujing pedestrian shopping street. Rooms and bathrooms are on the small side but otherwise clean and has the basic necessities. Front desk staff seem a bit harried.Breakfast has good variety for the price. (Best to be at the breakfast area on or before 7:15 as the place easily fills up.) There's a 7-11 just across the street and St. Joseph's Church is a 5-minute walk. Police vans and personnel along Wangfujing Street were a reassuring sight. Except for one incident wherein we saw a man apprehended by police, everything else appeared safe for the largely tourist crowd. The street is for shopping for high-end brands but if you want to see something different, turn right at one of the side streets and you'll find yourself at the snack street. (It has some sort of a welcome arch, easy to find.) This is where you'll find all those skewered scorpions (mind you, they are still alive, therefore moving their appendages), worms, insects, sea horses, sea stars, etc. Great for picture-taking but I didn't chance upon anyone willing to try them. There are also edible stuff like skewered lamb meat, fruits, noodles, etc.
Good location directly off wangfujing street there are several train stations within a 10min walk , welcoming staff with a good level of English and a decent breakfast buffet. The rooms were spacious too. Would stay here again.
