ood with children, gym nice small but looks big because of mirror walls. Opens 12 noon!! too late. Location is very good. Breakfast - almost too much choices! First morning was too crowded - could not find place at 8 am - big group of school children there! Second morning no worries.
"Good position, evening food poor."
Well placed for shopping , eating, Forbidden City and many sights. Do not eat here in the evening breakfast ok, but very overpriced at night for the quality of the food, lots of great eating places nearby. We are not particularly picky , but the person in the room before us had been smoking , and despite the best efforts of the staff never really got rid of the smell of it. But as Kirsty & Phil say it's Location,Location,Location and this Hotel has it.
"Good standard for short stay"
There is nothing really surprising in this hotel. The room offers good standard, it is clean and quiet. The quality of breakfast is unfortunately quite poor. There is a lack of european food, which i feel like a problem after two weeks in China. The space in breakfast room is too small especially during the weekend days, so there is alvays too many people and it is difficult to find free seat. The location is good.
"Great Wall ,summer palace"
This hotel has a huge fitness center and a good variety of foods is served for breakfast, the staff speak good English 'The location is the best for shoppings lovers and good restaurant .i stay 5 days in this hotel and am looking forward to next trip there
"Not ideal if you need a fridge"
The room was big room with useful furnishings but the lighting was seriously dim. It was not easy to read my combination lock with all the lights in the room on. One of my criteria was a fridge with this hotel indicates it has in the room when booking. The fridge doesn't work sufficient to chill a drink properly and that's considered normal when you ask the front desk about it. It was ok to get ice at first then became a major source of grief. Room info says call housekeeping for ice but it is very hard to communicate by phone, being confused with “ice cream” most often. It was easier to go to front desk who would send you to the restaurant who would give you one cup of ice and tell you they would have to charge for more. The manager was not available to resolve this. He was at a conference with no alternative suggested as to who might help. Basically, you are on your own. The front desk just look at you. The buffet breakfast was excellent with eggs cooked to order by a very pleasant chef. The gym had an excellent selection weight machines as well as the usual cardio machines and free weights. Towels are water were available. The strange part was the gym hours - midday to 2am! Most mornings I went down early and was able to enter, turn on the lights and machines and work out with no problem. One morning it was locked and took a while for the front desk to arrange to open it. It was very hot in the gym even though it was almost winter – not ideal for a workout. It was cool outside being almost winter but the lobby was over heated, meaning you had to strip off the outer layers very quickly when you entered from outside. There was a random combination of toiletries each day. No conditioner was provided but there was most other standard stuff. The English skills at the front desk were sufficient for the basics but poor for anything out of the ordinary. The location is excellent. You can walk or take the metro to most of the popular tourist attractions. Bus 111 stops right outside and will take you directly to the zoo for just 2 yuan – much more convenient than having to change lines on the metro. “Merry Home” opposite the hotel was good for basic, tasty food. There are a number of convenience stores nearby, most with chilled soft drink and beer which is not always the case in Beijing. The wifi was ok but it could not cope with downloading maps, constantly failing to do something that took a minute or so once we were able to use the free wifi in hong kong. I would recommend this hotel unless a fridge is critical. Note that it can be hard to get cold drinks around Beijing in general. Most shops have their fridges turned off as locals don't like cold drinks.
