Nice and clean rooms, well equipped and organized. Quiet and private. Excellent breakfast, for all tastes. Pool and Spa not visited, gym is OK. Good position to visit the city, metro 3 min walking, near many high-end malls in Nanjing rd and good restaurants; 1 h walking distance from Bund. Excellent price for quality.
"Great location for business, efficient staff"
Hotel is in a great location for business. Staff were attentive and responded quickly to requests. Lobby decor of hotel is nice, but rooms are a little tired and need a bit of a freshen-up. Lighting in rooms is also not great. Wifi was a little intermittent at peak use times and I found I had to keep reconnecting to access. It was also a pity both the room service menu and cafe menu were exactly the same and offered the usual standard hotel fare rather than highlighting local cuisine. Overall a good stay and I would return.
"Superb hotel in a great location"
I felt this hotel provided one of the best experiences I've had whilst travelling for work. The room was spacious, with a great view and all the amenities I required. Close to a nice shady park, shopping and lots of restaurants. I'd definitely recommend this hotel.
This hotel is in a good location, nice room, fantastic gym. But it is a pity that overall service standard is worse than a 3 star hotel. I guess the staff are not happy working there. 1)Check-in / Check Out counter - staff does not smile. Say hi to them, they will not respond. There is no need to be polite or friendly to them because they will not do so for you 2)Café Swiss where breadfast is served : The sign at the entrance says ' Please wait to be served " . Do not do that because no one will bother to serve you. Just walk in and sit down instead of standing there like a fool. Remember to ask for your coffe or tea, because no one will ever ask you whether u need any 3)Main door at lobby : No one will ever come out and ask whether u need a taxi. You have to tell them to do it for you In overall, there is no service to talk about at this hotel. There is only 1 bellboy by the name of Jack who presented great service that left me a good impression. All other personnel in this hotel does not meet the 5 star Swissotel standard. It is a pity
"Five days in Shanghai"
We stayed 5 nights at The Swissotel Grand Shanghai in the Jing An District. The Rooms here are ideal for the Business Traveler, Contemporary Rooms with bonus of a Nespresso Coffee Maker. You are situated near the Jing An Buddhist Temple (impressive indeed!) and Flanked by the Shopping Malls, such as Reel, Plaza 66, City Plaza & Jing An Kerry Center. We spent more time Eating in these Centre's than Shopping. Ideally situated on the Jing An Temple Metro and an easy walk to the Subway Supermarket. Impressive Supermarket . . try to catch closing time for the Staff line up to farewell each customer. Coffee Nuts are covered in Jing An District, just a short walk to Jiadzhou Road, make your way up to LY@M Café, this Guy Love's his Craft . .must rate as the best Barista & Coffee in Jing An District (just note he speaks no English). This French Quarter is the ideal way to introduce yourself to the City of Shanghai.
