I took a taxi from airport. My friends said underground would be better. The hotel is clean. Meeting rooms were large, appropriate for big events. The room is OK. Wifi works well. Bathroom was old and small. Employees are polite. Breakfast was standard.
"Small, comfortable - business hotel"
My review bullets below - Location (5 starts); walking distance from Oerlikon station which can take you to the main station, airport and many other connections - The rooms were small- but hygienic and comfortable. All basic amenities were available - The room service is chargeable at ~5 CHF (i remember asking for some seltzer in the room before realizing the mandatory price) - The gym / pool was under renovation while i visited in Feb 2016 - There is a supermarket right in front of the main entrance ; I found it very useful - The breakfast spread was decent and well-priced
"A really bad experience on many aspects"
The 1st stay in Swissotel Zurich was in January 2016 and it was amazing, after that i kept on visiting the hotel for dinner in Le Muh. My final stay was in January-2017 and it was a really bad stay since checking in and not yet after checking out. They deducted my acommodation fees twice without me singing on the credit card slip!!!! and when they realized their mistake they returned back not the exact amount but even less!!! It's not about the amount, it's by principle Thats why i did not claim back the remaining amount becuase im really tired...
"Beware - Renovations underway - noisy!!!!"
The hotel is undergoing renovations from floors 14-20. There are noises from drills going during the day and into the evening - 8pm last night. The renovations are due to finished in March I was told. The room I had on level 14 was also ridiculously small for a hotel of this standard - it was broom closet size. I had booked in for a two week stay and was surprised to see such a small room but decided it would be ok as I was able to move some of the unnecessary furniture to the hall. Couldn't open the closet easily now as the furniture was in the way but at least I could walk around the bed without having to do a side step and kick my toes. No idea why you would put so much furniture in a small room! I even had to store my suitcase under the office table as this was the only place it would fit - not even the wardrobe. When I called to complain about the noise on Friday night as the drilling was still going at 7.30pm I was told it would not happen again during the weekend. I went to reception on Saturday morning to make sure the noise was not going to occur throughout my 2 week stay and whilst there I also mentioned the size of the room. I was told the rooms are all that small unless you book a suite and I was also told that the drilling was only during the week not at the weekend. Ok I thought I can put up with a small room as long as there is no noise as I will be at work during the week. Went back to the room and the drilling started again - even though they said no drilling at the weekend! This was the last straw and decided to checkout after one night. When asked at reception the mandatory "Did you enjoyed your stay with us" , they were surprised to hear, "No actually it was terrible". I mentioned to the reception that I am surprised that there is no notification of the works at all. To this I was advised "no we are not putting it on our website". and then followed "we have a lot of complaints from the guests during this time about the noise but there is nothing we can do". I also mentioned I was told I could be moved to a higher floor from the guy at reception on Friday when I called ...but was told that by the lady at reception today it didn't matter if you were on a higher floor as the works are such that you will hear it wherever you are, even on a higher floor. She even acknowledged that the room I was in was small. Really disappointed in this hotel as I had great expectations of having a nice stay here but this was not the case. Thankfully I had stayed at the nearby before in another hotel and decided to move there again. Rooms are bigger and no noise.
"Clean, modern & comfortable right on a great rail line."
Hotel staff is helpful with directions and business supports. Very pleased with a very comfortable room. The location takes advantage of Zurich awesome transit system of rail lines & trams. Easy access to the whole city. Just off a red eye flight the staff showed me to the spa to relax and shower allowing to be fresh & relaxed for a busy day of meetings.
