"A Good Hotel In The Right Place"
That would be how I describe Swissotel Zurich, not exactly in CBD but well connected by public transportation and it comes with good amenities within its immediate surroundings. I especially enjoyed the marketplace early in the morning. The hotel itself is well designed, with modern ID and big and spacious rooms (I do wish the beds were not so soft though)...and frontline staff are extremely friendly and helpful...always a plus point for any hotel.
Thank you for the opportunity to once again inform everybody of the consistently efficient, clean and friendly service provided at this hotel. My wife and I stay at Swissotel whenever we visit Zurich and over the past 10 years have never been disappointed. Congratulations to all staff.
"Very bad experience"
I'm regular Costmor in this hotel from seven years , but this year (when they did the lobby renovation ) I think they want to collect money from any way from the costmors , the quality of the hotel and the service not like every year as usual and finnaly they charge me half day when I want to chech out one day before .
Rooms were clean and comfortable, the proximity to the station convenient for travel between Zurich Central and the Airport. The restaurant provided good food but was found to be expensive. Staff were help full and easy check out
"Just about ok"
We encountered a bit of culture shock right from the moment we boarded taxis from the airport. Inspite of hauling around a sick two year old in the cold, we were shouted at by one taxi driver from some reason and another refused to take us in seeing our stroller which he assumed could not be folded. Completely disorganized, we found it crazy that a city like Zurich would have such a system or lack of it. Anyways arriving at Swissotel, we were greeted by a warm porter who took our bags and directed us to a somewhat 'emotion neutral' receptionist. We had postponed our flight by a day since our daughter had a fever and accordingly missed night 1 of our 5 night stay. Upon checking with the receptionist if there was any flexibility in not being charged for a night we didn't stay, she cited rules. Which I understand. But rules would also mean our room had to have no torn wallpaper, the lamp shades would need to work and the twin beds would need to be made into one bed before a couple checked in. Incredibly she made no enquiry on how the child was doing now either - we were simply just another tourist using a room. This attitude sums up the hotel really. Take for instance the hotel wifi. A lot of tripadvisor reviewers mention that by joining their free loyalty membership, you get free wifi. I didn't know this and neither did the check in lady bother to mention it. In fact we didn't see any mention of a loyalty programme anywhere. Now why would a hotel do that - Hide its own loyalty programme' Bizarre. So I ended up paying for Internet initially and figuring out the 'loophole' later. I guess swissotel values its 7 franc Internet business that much. Breakfast was good and the servers were warm and friendly. But then the menu was the same for the rest of all our stay and did not change - even the main courses were the same - standard sausage and bacon fare. Rooms were small but that was expected. No such concierge to speak off - the check in receptionists handle that responsibility. One staff was very happy guilding us while another wasn't too keen on the same and kept the conversation short and precise. All in all Swissotel Zurich is a fairly decent business hotel meant for a quick stay where you spend the least amount of time in the hotel. It's located next to the tram, trains and has a Starbucks attached to it, with many stores in the vicinity. Location wise it's great. Service - it's a hit and a miss. We would look for a better place next time.
