"Didn't quite live up to expectations"
The location was easily accessible enough. Less than 10 minutes by train to the city/train station and to the Airport. Staff were friendly, the receptionists were extremely helpful. We were staying at the 26th floor so we got a good view of the city as well. But I think with it being a Swissotel, I kind of expected more. There were minor "annoyances" which ended up making the place not quite living up to my expectations of a Swissotel. Firstly, there were flies in the room. We caught two and then the next morning, we saw another two dead ones by the heater. I suspect they had come up the heater. Then our bathtub door was slightly crooked and I suspect the shower gel was half full, because it finished once I went for my first bath. When we told these to the reception, and requested for a new shower gel, nothing was done, though we saw the receptionist key it into the computer. Later we called the Guest Services and requested for some items, including the shower gel, and although they did deliver them this time, it took about 30-45 minutes to do so. Yes, they may just be minor things, but I expected a lot more. To be fair, upon checking out (thank goodness we only stayed a night) and gave the feedback to the reception, the receptionist was very apologetic and gave us chocolates, saying that "Swiss chocolates always make people feel better." I didn't know what to make of that, but she was trying her best I guess. One last suggestion, if any of the management sees this, you might want to put a "do not disturb" sign in the room. We only found the "please make up the room" sign but not the reverse. We were staying in the room till the 12pm checkout time, but the overly eager housekeepers kept knocking on our door practically every 15 mins from 10+. They couldn't quite understand what we were saying in English, so it was tiring to keep going over to the door to indicate we still didn't need housekeeping.
This is an excellent property though located a little far from the main city or the business district. However getting to the heart of the city is about 26 Swiss Francs by cab and there is tram and train facility that can get you to the city in much less time and money. The pool is great with a view of the city - experience it for sure. The breakfast has good variety. I specifically loved the smoked trout.
"Good hotel, average lovation"
As mentioned in previous reviews if you are looking for a city centre hotel near the old town and main shopping districts there are other closer hotels. The room was okay, very lime green. The bathroom was too small and there was quite a lot of corridor noise audible in our room. The coffee making facilities are great, a shame the rest of the decor wasn't to the same standard.
"The best location..."
I stayed here with a group. The group check was very smooth and the hotel staff was very helpful with informations and everything. The hotel is located at one of the best locations in Zurich. Lot of stores and eateries around. The train and tram are at walking distances. Although the rooms are little small in size compared to its competition hotels, but still a very very good hotel for both leisure and business travelers. The buffet breakfast is very elaborate compared to other European hotels.
"Good Hotel - Good Location - Great Staffs"
I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights with a group. First of all the check in for the group was so smooth. Ms. Johana (hope i did not forget the name) was fantastic. She was so courteous all times. Breakfast was really good, it is not a regular cold breakfast you get in most of the Europe hotels. Staffs at the breakfast area was also very helpful. Staffs at this hotel are waiting to help you.
