This hotel is simply amazing. Staff are both accommodating and friendly. It is easy to walk to Castle of Good Hope and several other points of interest. We had dinner at Bombay Brasserie, they accommodated us, even though we did not have reservations. The food was delicious. If you are going to eat there, best to make a reservation. Great views of Table Mountain from our room. Highly recommend this hotel.
We went to celebrate our anniversary and what an amazing weekend it was! the hotel was beautiful and we were upgraded to a suite because we were celebrating it was amazing! the food was fabulous, we loved the Indian food particularly and they were so patient with us in the restaurant explaining what everything was and making recommendations. We loved the breakfasts, especially the eggs benedict they were to die for... But most of all the staff are incredible. they were what really made our stay so memorable it was like being with very good friends I need to mention some in particular such as Bongi, she couldn't have been more helpful and spoiled us, Bronwyn what a lovely lady she just made so much time for us and our needs, Felicia, you were such a breath of fresh air and introduced us to all kinds of wonderful dishes we hadn't tasted before, McLeod, you are such a perfect gentleman and made us feel so very welcome and last but not least Thulani who looked after our car, was always so pleasant and as with the others was always prepare for the extra mile! We cant wait to return and meet our wonderful friends again.....
"Amazing staff !"
I have never stayed at Taj Cape Town but I sprained my ankle a few metres away from the hotel and went their to ask for some help. The staff warmly welcomed me and gave me some ice to put on my foot. I could stay there as long as needed for my foot to get a bit better. The people who work there were really sweet, attentive and helpul. Bonus: I had a delicious roobois tea ! I can imagine that it must be really pleasant to stay at Taj Cape Town.
"Great 2 night stay, beautiful rooms!"
I stayed 2 nights, and loved every minute! Great central location, easy to walk to attractions. Loved the Twankey bar! Great views from my room, and lovely tub and spacious bathroom! Not to mention wonderful service and a great breakfast buffet!
"Abysmal lip service to hospitality and customer care"
So we have always been great fans of the Taj Group and even though Taj Cape Town has had its controversies in the past we have remained loyal throughout the years and visit it at least once annually. In fact that it's the only hotel we stay at when in Cape Town. Yesterday however an incident occurred which has forever smeared any fondness I have for this hotel and I shall NEVER return. The Taj has a valet system here....u are to leave your vehicle at the entrance of the hotel and the valet parks it for u at some undeclared parking area. One assumes it's in the hotel basement or somewhere nearby. So yesterday was my husbands birthday Due to his love for this hotel his birthday was planned a year in advance to be celebrated here. We arrived in Great excitement and anticipation of his birthday being a grand and joyous event. Unbeknownst to us Taj had Other plans in store. After a short trip around the city we returned to the hotel for my husband to have a short rest before his appointment at the Jiva Spa. Please note that my husband has a serious cardiac issue and has been warned against stress and been advised to take extra special precautions to lower his stress levels and make lifestyle changes accordingly. That is also one of the reasons we came to the Taj so that he can relax abdus destress. After arriving at the hotel we are informed by a young boy that he was parking our vehicle and he drove it into an air conditioner and smashed the back windscreen. To be honest our initial reaction was that the Taj was pranking us and perhaps had a surprise in store for my husband. This was NO PRANK. The taj's response to this was that we drive the damaged cat to the rental agency at the airport which was also peak traffic hour at that time and sort the car out. We should thereafter we were audaciously informed go to a police station and open an affidavit so that Taj can view it in order to compensate us presume for the damages. This was not made clear as they said that we should have insurance on the rental vehicle and should take care of it. No empathy or hospitality was shown in an attempt to assist the situation. We were treated as though we had impositioned and inconvenienced them by them smashing our vehicle. After a rant by yours truly arrangements were Made to provide me with a hotel vehicle and Driver to follow my husband to the rental agency as we could not sit with the smashed windscreen. They had the further gall to state that on my husbands birthday we go to the police station and lay a report so that they can assist with the payment of the small admin fee that may arise. By this time my anger knew no bounds. No member of management came to assist. When we came back Maphume I think was her name from the Concierge was blatantly rude to me as if I had smashed her car. All we received from the Taj was sorry. If the situation were reversed and I had smashed or trashed a room in this hotel a mere sorry from me would never have sufficed. My 8 year old son was completely scared and traumatized thinking we were in trouble with the police and hotel. My husbands stress levels elevated and his birthday was ruined. We are currently still staying at the Taj as our flight only leaves on Monday but I am seriously considering moving to another hotel Hospitality and making the guest feel welcome or attempts to make amends for the trauma we were put through where not even made. Don't get me wrong I am not looking for handouts but I'm staying in the Club room presently and I would have expected better treatment than what I received. When we stayed at the Taj Palace in Mumbai I remember the hotel tripping over themselves to ensure that we had a happy stay and any small inconvenience was dealt with promptly and so hospitably that we felt welcomed cared for and a though we were priority guests Expect no such thing from Taj Cape Town To date no one has made any amends nor has senior management been in to discuss the incident. What makes this situation more laughable is that we are Taj Loyalty members. Clearly that means nothing. Clearly guest satisfaction and happiness and service mean nothing. Do yourself a favor and stay away nd go to a hotel that cares unlike this one.
