"The most beautiful place we've ever seen!"
Staying at the Taj Exotica was the "grand finale" of our honeymoon, which began in Sri Lanka. We had an incredible stay and would very happily return (the sooner, the better)! The staff is incredible - everyone we encountered was warm and extremely helpful without being overly intrusive. They must make the staff study the photos they take on your arrival, because we were greeted by name everywhere we went! Special thanks to our butler, Mohamed, and to the entire dive shop staff, who all went above and beyond to make our experience memorable. We stayed in a Deluxe Lagoon Villa with Pool. It was definitely on our bucket list to do the overwater villa and we're so happy we did! We enjoyed going for a quick morning swim in the lagoon followed by a dip in our plunge pool before breakfast. The villa was beautiful and well appointed. This seems like a minor detail, but I was very impressed with the vast selection of Molton Brown products in the bathroom! Now that we've done the overwater villa, I think if I were to go back I would actually stay in one of the beach villas - they are on the "better" side of the island in terms of the beach and ocean, and they seem even more private! Food was very expensive, but you don't go to the Maldives on a budget vacation. And we found the portions to be quite large - we ended up sharing entrees in many cases and being just fine. We dined at the Deep End one night for dinner, at a special barbecue near the pool one night, and at 22 degrees on the other. Deep End was pretty but probably not worth the extra premium we paid. We had breakfast daily at 22 degrees and lunch near the pool. All were very good. We took advantage of the complimentary snorkeling equipment and swam around just below our villa, where we saw quite an impressive array of tropical fish, and we also went scuba diving. We had a fantastic day in the water! Visibility was incredible and some of the highlights included several giant clams and Moray eels. The instructor and staff were fantastic, and we loved riding on the traditional dhoni. The hot tea and cookies after our dive were a great touch! Another "above and beyond" example: while we were diving, the boat captain caught a few small tuna. He gave us one and had our butler give it to one of the chefs, who prepared it as sushi and sashimi for us at lunch the next day! So much fun. We were only there for 3 nights so we loved being so close to Male airport. We did hear some airplane noise but not at all enough to cause any problems or distract from the holiday. If you are staying in the overwater villas, I would, however, recommend requesting an odd-numbered villa, which face away from Male, as the lights were quite bright. We absolutely loved the beach. The chairs were very comfortable and nicely spread out so you always felt secluded. Each set of 2 chairs had an umbrella, a table, and a cooler filled with ice-cold bottled water - such a nice touch. And the ocean was by FAR the most beautiful I've ever been in - crystal clear, the most stunning blue, very calm, and the absolute perfect temperature. We took many long swims and I still dream about that beautiful water! Thanks to everyone at the Taj for making the last stop on our honeymoon so spectacular. We hope to return someday!
We recently stayed Taj Exotica Resort & spa. The service, food and accommodation were exceptional and wonderful. When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by very dynamic and friendly team. The resort is perfect place for honeymoon and relaxing.
Everything is perfect! We got upgraded to the biggest villa and had unforgattable experience! Excellent service, comfortable beds and friendly people.Absolutely visit again if get chance and definitely recommend to our friends.
Taj Exotica Resort and Spa is amazing place. Very conveniently located 20 mins from Male airport. At the airport we were greeted by a Taj representative who helped us to the boat. we landed at 9pm and had no issues with pick up unlike other hotels which need morning arrival. People often mention about air traffic noise. Its not that frequent and only lasts seconds. the place is so beautiful that you don't really care. On arriving at resort we were taken directly to our room by our butler. checkin was done at our villa. very smooth. Mohamed answered all our questions very patiently. We chose to stay 4 nights in Deluxe Water Villa with plunge pool. Excellent room. walk to the room at night is beautiful with loads of fishes in lagoon. View from room is amazing and has direct access to lagoon & ocean to snorkel. Faroud cleaned our room daily. Always had a smile on his face and did an excellent job keeping the place super clean. very impressive. Food options in 24 degrees is very good with different cuisine. we were a bit disappointed by presentation and service as compared to other 5 star stays. Our experience at restaurant by the pool was much better. Sophia and Dombhe were always attentive to our requests and had good suggestions. service was excellent. we also accessed Jiva Spa. excellent location and service. Gym is a bit small but we didn't have any issues as it was mostly empty. Mornings they had complimentary Yoga sessions but as we were a bit late we didn't get a spot. Though there are no stores on island for any small items you may have forgotten to pack. Front desk ladies were able to help us with it. Overall our stay is memorable and we definitely recommend Taj Exotica for its location and stay.
"A frequently returning guest"
Just had our sixth stay at the Taj Exotica - surely that says it all! This really is a fabulous place to stay and switch off, unwind, relax and be treated with fabulous service. All of the staff are a credit to the resort. Everyone you meet, whether it be a guy sweeping leaves or a waiter in the restaurant are friendly, polite and happy to chat. We stayed in one of the Premium Beach villas, which are particularly good if you want privacy as no-one can walk past. These are a great size, with good amenities. The food at 24 Degrees is excellent. The chef is always more than happy to create something that is not on the menu. Being here for 10 nights, although it is quite an extensive menu, it was nice to ask for slight variations. Pizzas at the Poolside were probably the best pizzas we've had anywhere. The bar area is still a bit disappointing in that it is often empty. The price of the drinks probably doesn't help. $18 plus 10% service charge and 12.5% tax for a single measure gin and tonic is pretty hefty. They perhaps need to look at doing 'Happy Hour' or similar to entice people in. People often mention about the air traffic noise. You really do get used to it and the planes go over fairly infrequently, with the noise only lasting seconds. This really shouldn't put you off staying here. The main benefit is that you are only 20 mins by boat from the airport. We were in our villa within about an hour of the plane landing (and that includes waiting for our luggage in the arrivals hall). Six times here and we still don't tire of the place. It truly is paradise. Don't hesitate in booking. We will be booking again!
