Awesome room and great service, Nadim our butler did a fantastic job. Shushant and the dive/water sport center staff were helpful and patient. Shushant provided great review of scuba diving and the reef next to the resort was a great dive for amateurs like myself.
"Good but beware of eating out ..."
Stayed in Beach villa - very nice actually - good room layout - nice location - stunning sunset views - small plunge pool ... So all good on that front. Staff - very attentive - but nothing more .. - all functioning nice but no real personal interaction ... total lack of visible management towards guest - not a single contact made .. not important though - but is reflected in a sense of lacking leadership ... Food ... major point of critisim ... food in Restaurants mediocre at best ... Buffets really below par their competitors .. .and most of all insanely expensive ... like 500-600 $ for 4 (food only ...) ... The good part though is ... that the food delivered to your villa is actually far better quality than in their venues ... AND if you booked the "dine around option" ... - way cheaper than eating out ... why they do this is beyond me really ... but once we realized it we spent some great culinary evenings and did have not problem choosing dishes out of their extenisve in-villa dining menu ... including a very wide selection of vegetarian options for our daughter. Breakfast we also had delivered to Villa as the set up in their beach restaurant with no buffet option is lacking efficiency so all taking way to long and too complicated to execute for the staff in any reasonable time - but again no big problem after we found out that in villa service does not cost anything more... Drinks are expensive in the Maldives that is to be expected and the choice of wines is ample and pretty good actually ... Beach activities all there .. again vey expensive - but hey ... all fine ... So overall all OK .. but not 5 * .. 4 is just about right ... and actually they do not aim for 5 I guess ... areas to improve: - Leadership - Vision - Food quality in venues - Guest - Communication
"Top of the notch, a wonderfully memorable anniversary"
While this resort (as facilities) is superb, the service needs to be enhanced especially considering the amount people pay to stay in this resort, so i'm going to try to make a positive criticism... 1. The resort in terms of facilities is superb 2. The resort in terms of food, beverage, and hookah quality is superb and over the top (though it is more expensive than most of other maldivian resorts (45 USD ++ for hookah while in other resorts 15 - 18 USD) as i checked upon my return to the UAE for sure, but worth it). While you may face some hiccups in the restaurant service, the overall food quality is better than the top 5 star restaurants in the world. 3. In terms of water sports, equipments are brand new and Andy and his team are very very professional. However, the pricing of the activities are literally double of that of other five star resorts in the same area. Example, but not limited to: Jet skiing is for 350 ++ USD per hour, and 500 ++ USD for 90 minutes while in other resorts, it is for 180 USD ++ per hour. This is clear why the resort does not advertise the water sports pricing on its website. 4. Corals are non-existent in the resort as the resort is situated over a lagoon. You need to go to the coral reef garden for 70 ++ per person to see corals (duration is almost 40 minutes). This is something essential in the maldives and should be available without charges, especially when you almost pay 9,000 - 10,000 USD for a 4 nights travel. 5. Butler Service: during my stay, i never saw my butler until Myrna (Mimi) probably caused him a problem after the issues i faced during half of my stay. His name is Adi. I never got any help/assistance from him to do anything, not even reserve an activity as he was never there (well except on check-in and check-out, probably i tipped him too early that he thought i was not going to tip him again or something) 6. Housekeeping: needs major enhancement. I wasnt provided proper cleaning nor proper amenities until the replacement of the housekeeping personnel (Thanks Mimi again). The island is fairly simple, the five star rating is well deserved even though the butler service did not exist. However, i was not affected by the lack of it as i easily booked all activities i wanted to try along with my wife. Thanks to Andy and his supportive team. Finally, i would like to send my warmest regards to all the staff working in Taj Exotica Resort & Spa (especially Mimi) for making my 6 year anniversary very special...
"Truely a taj expirience "
One of my most memorable stays. Great place. Excellent service The resort although shows its age, Its an old property in comparison to several of its competitors, but he service is excellent. Right from the airport pickup to the check in to the daily services, everything is seamless and they cater to your every request promptly. The food is good. Being vegetarian we still had plenty of options to choose from and the preparation was equally good. The water activities were also nice. Both me and my wife are non swimmers still took some snorkelling classes and ventured into the sea. Was a great experience. Other resorts might be newer or have better coral or better beaches but I would come again just for the service. Will definitely visit again sometime in the future.
"Paradise on Earth"
Maldives had been my dream destination since childhood. Visiting this place was like a dream come true. Everything was like picture perfect right from the check in to check out. We had been there for 2 nights for a special celeberation. The hospitality of Taj was par excellence, specially Mirna who was the F& B manager. She was like a genie for the whole group, i would like to specially thank her for tge untiring hospitality she offered us. Now lets come to the villas, which were awesome. The bathroom n room was luxurious and the Molten Brown products which they had kept in the bathroom was outstanding. Food- You just name it and you get. Had the most tasty sushis, italian n indian food. Breakfast is a la carte and very good. Would definetely love to visit again.
