We first went to this hotel three years ago and found it very satisfactory if a little characterless. We were disappointed in a return visit this month. The waiting staff was polite and charming as ever but seemed to be too busy to cope. The housekeeping, previously splendid, was below the standard to be expected of this class of place. I hope that it recovers its previous quality soon.
"Hospitality Redifined Look at rose petals than thorns"
A 35 years of legacy is now become land mark of guest care management.. It is not just a hotel but a reflection of Indian hospitality called "Athithi Devo Bhava" - guest is equal to God- A rare address for those who are longing to enjoy hiistic hospitality plus plus... visit to know what plus means. Located in the heart of the city this property is enriched with 5 award winning speciality restaurants , well loaded bar, Emperor lounge, the breath taking Grill Room located on the roof top of the hotel to enjoy visual fete of New Delhi, banquets and conferencing, Business Centre fitness Centre the spa ...Aha ! you are a king for a song...Added advantage for loyal members from Inner Circle staying in Club floor can enjoy widespread privileges- free happy hours, 24 hours complimentary coffee beverages and snakes, access to board room and many unseen unheard - and I am one of the beneficiary of it. Shawi,Lijo,Diya Deep,Kapil; Gaurav, Raktin,Gopal, Sanjay Lakshmi deserve a pat for caring services while Chef Devender from In Room Dining, has added a new dimension to dining , deserves big hug for uploading not a food from many kitchens
"Very average tired looking 5 star hotel"
- Value For money: Delhi certainly has much better options for the same price - Service: average - Dining: Quite a few options as with any other Taj property - Free Wi-fi: The rooms and the hotel have a wi-fi facility - Leisure activities: The hotel has all standard amenities that come with a good 5-star property - Some points to note: The Hotel is an old property requiring a major overhaul. The location is fantastic. The service at the restaurants especially the coffee shop is extremely average. The staff lack the sense of 5-start service quality. One gets a sense of differential treatment between Indian guests and guests from abroad, which was disappointing as I have never sensed this in the past in any Taj property. Basic aspects like up-keep of the toast machine also seemed to have lost attention!!!
Our group of 7(with 3 kids) stayed here twice during our visit to India, at the start and end of our trip. Our first stay was for 3 nights, and it was wonderful. The cars sent to the airport were luxury vehicles with wifi and made the journey to the hotel after a long flight very comfortable. The reception was friendly and warm, and they upgraded us to the club level rooms with all three rooms beside one another. We are part of the AMEX FHR program, so the upgrade is a part of the program subject to availability. The rooms were spacious as we had an extra cot in one, but it's unfortunate that the property doesn't have adjoining rooms for families. The rooms themselves were a little worn but comfortable. The food and service in the club level was spectacular! Our breakfasts were one of the highlights. The staff even offered to pack fruit and freshly made parathas for our day trip to Agra. The pool was enormous and the staff there were very attentive. The lobby is quite beautiful as well. The first visit, we encountered very kind staff who always greeted us with a smile and asked if everything was ok. This stay was wonderful and we would have highly recommended this property. However, we returned for one night stay at the end of our trip and the stay had a different feeling. We did not get any upgrades even being part of the FHR program, and were told the property was at capacity. Although I'm sure the property was not completely full, it was busy hosting a conference. There were no apologies made for this or even any acknowledgement of the inconvenience. We had asked for access to the Club Level and were told we would have to pay and they would let us know the cost. They never did.The 3 rooms were on the same floor but spread out which with 3 kids is very inconvenient. The rooms themselves smelled very musty and were very worn. We had requested at booking two rooms with king beds and one with two twins. We were given two rooms with two twins and one with a king. Again no apology. The staff didn't seem to care that we were unhappy. We had a late checkout as we had a late flight and had our luggage held for us downstairs. After we dined and waited in the lobby for our cars, we had to put something in our luggage. The staff did not take kindly to this and moved our luggage to a trolley away from our access. When we asked if it was because we had opened our bag up they said no. We would have appreciated honesty and even the accommodation for a separate area to use to put something in our luggage. But it just felt like they were waiting for us to leave (even while we continued to spend money on food and beverage while we waited). Just in general the feeling we got was that we were an inconvenience to the hotel and not valued guests who had stayed for 4 nights in three rooms and dined only at the hotel. A five star hotel such as this should make all their guests feel welcomed and valued at each stay. They did not. That last night stay left a sour taste in our mouth, and next time in New Delhi I would explore other properties in the FHR program, such as the Oberoi or Leela Palace. I regret booking the Taj Mahal Hotel for the second time during our visit.
Stayed two nights on a business trip. room is of a nice size, staff is very attentive and polite. The check in experience was very pleasant. the flower arrangements in the lobby are amazing. the work space is excellent.
