Outstanding quality and service, and much less expensive than Mandarin or Bayerischer Hof. Great, attentive, service. And unlike Mandarin or Bayerischer Hof, it's actually quiet! Alongside a lovely park, you are just a few blocks from shopping and entertainment, but just enough out of the main stream that it is uniquely private and peaceful. I have stayed here many times in the past few years and will be there again in March, 2017. It is my go-to hotel when in Munich.
"Day visit for SPA & BRUNCH"
I did not stay overnight at this hotel but we were a group of girls and we came for brunch followed by a spa day. Location: the hotel is not far from train station and city center, it is located near a small park Decor: is inspired by art nouveau and is very class and sleek Very friendly and attentive welcome at main reception and also spa reception Sophias restaurant brunch- the brunch is good but overall a bit disappointing. We took t he buffet for EUR 41, which is rather pricey. What was good: Nice teas, good choice of food which can be taken at the buffet and some dishes served at the table, especially good were the cheeses, fresh honey, salmon, jams, yoghurts and the drinks. The service staff was very friendly. What was not good: the bread was not 100% fresh and a bit dry (not just one kind but all of them), the ham did not seem 100% fresh either, most of the dishes served at the table especially the blueberry pancakes and the waffles were dry and tasteless seemed like they had been ready for hours and just quickly reheated, scrambled eggs and egg white omelette with avocado was ok but nothing special. The staff was very friendly but inefficient and slow even though the restaurant was far from full, we waited twice around 15 minutes just to get our teas or the ordered dishes were served. The Spa- we booked the spa deluxe: access to the spa area plus 1h massage. The spa area is very nice, modern and clean. You get bathrobe, towels, slippers and a locker when entering. The pool is big enough to swim small laps, very nice and modern sauna part and resting room. Showers and bath equipment is modern and clean. Tea and water are at disposition all day. The traditional massage with oil was AMAZING! I enjoyed the spa a lot and returned the next day for a facial which was great as well. overall a very pleasant experience especially in the Spa with great staff, services and facilities. Just some room for improvement for the brunch in the restaurant.
"Smart but welcoming"
Good quiet and pretty location near the botanical gardens and near the main station. Not many restaurants nearby that we could find. The food in the hotel is good but expensive. Excellent room with good quality breakfast included. Only problem with the room was that there were no tea or coffee making facilities and we spent over £100 on room service cups of tea over 4 nights. staff very friendly and welcoming.
"Wonderful hotel in great location"
The hotel was excellent in every way. The room was fantastic-plenty of space and nice city views. The service of the staff-both in the hotel and restaurant- and helpfulness of the concierges, Klaus and Max, both pre and post arrival, made our trip even more enjoyable. If you don't mind a short walk, this hotel is perfectly located. There is an underground station within 5 minutes, but we chose to walk to most sites and it was an easy 15 minutes to the Marienplatz and the Pinakothtek museums. The Egyptian museum and other places we didn't have time to visit were even closer. If you are traveling with smaller children, the hotel sits across the street from a small park with a playground. Sophia's had a wonderful breakfast buffet and the dinner we had at the restaurant was delicious. If you like Moscow mules- the bar has a great twist- with rum and sage that must be tried! Many thanks and we can't wait to return- this will definitely be our base for further exploration of the city and Bavaria!
"Great location, beautiful hotel"
Spent two nights here and was able to take advantage of the wonderful spa facilities. Wonderful pool, sauna, and professional, relaxing massage services on offer. Large room, very comfortable; large, luxurious bathroom with both tub and walk-in shower, heated floors. Despite overlooking a busy street, the room was absolutely quiet due to the heavy-duty windows. The hotel is a short walk from many must-see areas of Munich. Friendly staff. Our only complaint would be the highly over-priced buffet breakfast. Avoid it and head out into the neighborhood instead; there are several very good places for breakfast nearby at a fraction of the cost.
