"Great location, stylishly decorated, friendly staff"
This hotel is located in the "Oud Zuid" area of Amsterdam, a chique part of the city. It is located on walking distance from Beatrixpark, a very nice park for a stroll through the green. The hotel is nicely decorated, they have a great terrace with evening sun. The staff is quite young and friendly. We had drinks and bruschetta's. With very fresh and tastefull pommodores and mozzarella. We visited the hotel on Kingsday, the streets surrounding the hotel were packed with people selling all kinds of used stuff, a real happening.

Very Hospitable staff at reception. But the rooms were a bit small even though we booked a junior suite. Excellent location. Has tram stations nearby. We did not try the food in the hotel. But the overall experience was a bit disappointing

If this hotel could match the quality of the front of house staff (who were helpful, friendly and attentive) it would be one I would return to. It has a great location, wonderful architecture and is furnished in a very contemporary style. However, as always, it is the service that lasts longest in the memory: Reception staff- excellent. Friendly and helpful. Restaurant- waiting staff very poor. Basics, like getting a menu for food and cleaning tables should just happen..... there was a complete lack of leadership and seating people in the bar for breakfast because the restaurant tables are reserved for lunch is very odd. The breakfast buffet was however very nice. Housekeeping- very poor- replenishing the bathroom, cleaning the bins should just happen! The room- nice and stylish, but the phone didn't work, the curtains were hanging off the rails, the lighting didn't work. Overall, great potential.... not fulfilled!

Read my other reviews which many people have, I always look for the positive and give the benefit of the doubt. However I must warn you NOT TO BOOK this hotel. We booked this hotel for our wedding anniversary and stayed on 6th April to 9th April 2017. Arrived at 10:00 registered and booked in luggage. Came back at 15:00 as agreed to be told there was a mistake with our room. we had been allocated 117 when we registered in the morning. At 17:00 we were shown to our room 123. we found out that there was a housekeeping issue, no one told us or kept us up to date or offered any refreshment while we waited. We went to the terrace and a had a drink, nice staff great drinks. we booked in the restaurant for 19:30 and were told that we would be given a free drink for our room cleaning problem. Arrived in restaurant at 19:30 nice waiter engaged us in conversation only to be removed from our table (physically removed) by a man in a white suit and bow tie who then allocated someone else to take our order. 45 minutes later after asking on a number of occasions our drinks had still not arrived and there was no sign of any food, not even bread for the table. At 20:30 we complained and left, we still had not had a drink and there was still no food. The following evening we sat outside ordered a drink and again waited for 45 minutes. Decided to not eat in the restaurant but ordered room service instead which was ok. The room was tired, with the shower door off its hinges and more importantly the electics where dangerous. two bathroom lights on the mirror did not work and on closer inspection had burnt out and where loos in the fitting. All lamps in the room where unplugged and when we plugged them in plugs ejected across the room with sparks flying. We paid in total just over 900 euros for two nights with food and drinks, I feel completely ripped off. I am so angry that I paid them money and they couldn't offer me a basic service and a bit of civility. Some of the younger members of staff where nice but this is a hotel that has no leadership and no shame in ripping you off. No one has apologised. my recommendation is that you avoid this hotel.
Where do i begin' Arrived early at the hotel, and they kindly agreed to hold on to our luggage until check in time. Went to see the sights for 5 hours, then came back. Our room was not quite ready do to "housekeeping", and could we wait in the lobby, we were given a glass of tap water. 1 1/2 hours later our room was ready, with no communication from the staff up until that point. We had a junior suite, and paid a pretty penny for it. The room was very tired, but we were finally in. We tried to work out the lighting, and got some of the lights on, although 2 of the lights in the bathroom didn't work, I had to use the torch on my phone. The bedside lamps had to be plugged in when we wanted them on, and unplugged to turn them off. We decided to eat at the hotel that night, as it had been a long day, we booked a table. We arrived at the restaurant to be greeted by no one, eventually one of the trainees came, who was very nice and chatty, but someone else came along and moved him on. He asked if we would like a drink, so we asked for the wine list, and he brought us water. We waited for a while and someone took our drinks order, and food order. We waited for 45 minutes for drinks that never came, so we left, and found a very nice place down the road. The next day when we came back from sight seeing, we ordered tea to our room. An hour later it arrived, and it was the wrong tea, we would've used the room facilities, but they hadn't put any tea in. We should also have had bottled water in the room, but when we asked, they said they had ran out, but we could order some on room service to pay for! We went for drinks on the terrace, after about 15 minutes someone took our order, then we waited, and waited. Our waiter came out and asked it we wanted more drinks, even though we hadn't had the first. He said he would get them for us, so we waited and waited. Three times he went to ask for our drinks. Finally about an hour later we got them. Luckily we were only staying for 2 nights. I understand it is a training hotel, although that wasn't made clear when we booked. The price should reflect the service.
