Stayed two nights at this hotel. Location is good for De pijp, museum area and much nicer place to stay than in central Amsterdam. Rooms are traditional but look a little bit worn around the edges. Ours was on the second floor and the paint was chipped in places on the walls and there were some stains on the bed covers. Staff are friendly and polite but found it a bit strange that they walk you to your hotel room door! The hotel is set in an old traditional building which is great if you like character but if you like modern convenience then this hotel might not be for you. Biggest annoyance was the bathroom -the shower was really cramped because of the sloping ceilings. The window blinds were also really rubbish at keeping out the lighting from the hotel signage! We didn't have breakfast at the hotel @19.50 euros we thought it was a bit expensive.
"Superior, but superior to what then'"
Excellent location if you want to visit the fantastic museums Amsterdam has, Rijks etc... within walking distance. Converted old school, fully brought up to today's standards, good atmosphere, fun bar, excellent restaurant, very helpful personnel. No sign of the personnel being 'students in training'. Then why above title'''' Because we booked a 'superior' room, and frankly it was not big at all, with a couple of stairsteps (hazardously in the dark) cutting the bedside of the room off from the bathroom, and the maneuvering space for getting around the bed the absolute minimum. When we asked the reception what a 'standard' room looked like then, the reply was that the 'superior' rooms are the smallest size they have. Yes, what is in a name dear marketeers...*** The search for a preferred hotel in Central Amsterdam continues. Keep reading these posts... ***countermove: smaller beds so you can actually get around them'''
This hotel was amazing! The location was incredible. Even though it was not in the city centre it was central to most tourist attractions. The staff were friendly and very happy to help with any requests. We were however given some incorrect information about the transport home which almost caused us to miss our flight so be careful and check the information you are given. The room itself was beautiful on first glance however there were quite a lot of cosmetic issues. Overall it was a very pleasant stay just slightly over priced due to needing tlc.
"Contribute to education "
This hotel used the be a former boys school and now purposes the hotel for education/internship for students. The interns 'run' the hotel. This might not be for everyone but I liked the experience and it allows students to properly 'practice' on the guests! Be patient 😊 The design of the hotel in beautiful and restored in its original state. The terrace is great during sunny days and their martinis are to die for!
"Very nice and kozy hotel in Amsterdam"
Spent a weekend in Amsterdam with good friends, and we stayed at this hotel. The hotel itself is small, but that was just positive this time. The room (Superior) was super, good beds, good size and bathroom was also nice both size and standard. The staff working there were were nice and polite, so just positive to say!! The garden terrace is one of the better ones, however a little bit dissapointed about the food..., we ordered a 150gr burger, got a small one with some normal white bread.., so think the whole meal itself was 150gr :-) But good place to go for a drink or coffe! The hotel is placed a little distance away from the city centrum..., we normally just took a taxi..., was 5-10 minutes (depending on traffic) and the cost was 10-15 Euros.. All in all a very nice hotel, nice rooms and staff, but a little bit away from city centrum.
