"Great Time! Lost GoPro & SunGlasses. If found please let me know!"
Had an amazing time in Barbados, loved the island and The Crane. The people are super friendly and helpful. Note, the beach is beautiful but the water is very rough. Big waves and strong tide. I lost my GoPro Camera and sun glasses in the beach as I got hit by a massive wave. If anyone finds, please let me know! Willing to offer a $ reward... all I really want is the footage on the memory card. Thanks in advance!
"Could easily get from very good to great"
Lots of fabulous stuff - the beach is great, the accommodation with full kitchens and multiple restaurants means the perfect combination for mixing self catering with eating out, the cafe we used a lot with great coffee cakes and ice-cream, the pools are fabulous and most of the staff are terrific. We used the Crane fast track and transfer service and were totally impressed - its not cheap but with a fast check in at the Crane we were in our room within an hour of wheels down on the tarmac (much much much better than an hour+ queuing in the hot and humid immigration hall at Grantley Adams followed by a hassle for a taxi...all after a 9h flight). Not so good stuff - like another reviewer we were flooded out of our room - the storm water came in rapidly and we rescued our computers and passports from the safe just in time. We mopped up with towels from the helpful housekeeper on the block, and of course nature happens, but we too had no other action from management for 3 hours. Unacceptable. At our insistence we moved rooms and that was fine, but we had to push for that, and it didn't happen until the next day. At these prices, and we're flooded in our room, and we are battling for a dry room when it rains' C'mon guys. We also got scammed by a taxi driver booked by the Crane of the return journey to the airport. It wasn't huge amount of money that wasn't returned in change but the attitude that we were fair game to be fleeced grates. It won't happen again. And like a few other reviewers, we did find a small minority of staff to be grumpy. Concierge was especially uneven - disappointing one day, terrific the next. The grocery store was a bit of a game everyday to try and get them to make eye contact, never mind smile. But the cafe, restaurants and bar were never a problem. A tip - we were bitten to death by mosquitos! Not the norm for us in Barbados and we took all the usual precautions. It was so bad we've bought a mosquito net for future trips. So despite a few adventures, we'll be back - indeed the Crane is a very special place. And most stuff here is very very good. But management do need to get on top of things. I've sent them feedback re the above. Response' Well, I'm still waiting to hear.
"Comfort and superb location by one of the most beautiful beaches."
We have just enjoyed a few days of relaxation at the Crane resort. We had a garden view suite, which was large and had a well equipped kitchenette. This enabled us to self cater easily for some of our meals. Rooms were clean but had a few issues, including very noisy air conditioning, and the shutters would not close properly, so I was woken up at sunrise each day. I am an early riser, so this wasn't a problem for me, but for others it could be a big problem. The grocery store on site was small but well stocked, and I found the prices comparable to other supermarkets on the island we had shopped at. Pool areas nice, but the pools needed cleaning while we were there, but this might have been due to the huge storm and flooding on the island the day before we arrived, which they were still cleaning up from. The beach is truly beautiful, and the beach vendors didn't bother us. So we could enjoy the beach without any hassles. We ate at 2 restaurants outside the resort, Marco Polo and Cutters. Both are less than 5min walk from the resort, and I would recommend both. It seemed that many of the guests here return each year, and I can see why as it was very appealing, if they could just sort out the maintenance issues it would be perfect! We met several couples who had booked suites with plunge pools, but they told us they were worth having as they were so cold!
"Not Totally Pleased!!"
Beautiful part of the island the landscape and beach are great. But during our 6 day stay it rained all day on the 3rd day, while we were out during the pouring rain our room sprung a leak in the bathroom behind some tiles causing a puddle throughout the room, it was so bad that the power went out twice. We used the towels to remove some of the water but I went to the front desk to ask for assistance and was told that someone would be coming to assist us but the towels are on the other side of the resorts which is flooded and after being there 4 more days no one has yet to come to check. I believe for the price that you pay for these facilities they should be more equipped to handle rain and power outages. I do understand you cannot control mother nature but the people that are staying at your resort should be your most highest priority. We had to go to the front desk to get info no phones, wifi and communication from the managers at this resort. And I have not been compensated for my inconvenience.
Great place to kick back and relax for a romantic get away. Leave the kids at home for this one. If your looking to just hang out by the beach and pool without the hustle and bustle of the typical resort this is the place. There are plenty of options to enjoy eating and drinking to keep you occupied from early morning to when you retire in the evening. The resort has everything you need right on the premise. If you are looking for the night life of the big city this is not the place for you. The resort and facilities are beautiful and the staff is exceptional.
