What a great stay! The room we were in was in Building 5, room 526. Lovely plantation style with a huge balcony and very private plunge pool. The views are fantastic as well, right on the edge of the cliffs. The pools were well maintained as were the common areas between buildings. Every staff member we encountered were polite and welcoming. The beach is super private and raked daily. The ocean temp was like bath water. My only minor complaint is that the banquet dinners were not the best, Im not sure if the Crane or an outside caterer was responsible for that. The pool restaurant was great though.
Landed September 12th stayed a little shy of two weeks and everyday was a new adventure. Booked the whole trip through Sophia Haynes (she was awesome) we picked up the all-inclusive plan for food and drink. Karimah and the girls at concierge were on the money with tours and planning a nice dinner for my wife. Jeffrey greets us every morning walk to breakfast. The food was incredible and the beach was gorgeous. Go up to the Carriage House for lunch and/or dinner you won't be disappointed, Joel makes you feel like family and even had a song for my wife and I played on the steel pan without request. The center of town isn't really that far of a drive, easy taxi drive to experience the nightlife of the beautiful island. This resort is and abbot absolute must if you want to escape and relax with great food and perfect views. We stayed in the 28ft pool suite building 8. Best time of our lives. Our last day there we left with hugs from the staff in L'azure and concierge. Truly felt like we were leaving family.
"Bitter sweet but honest review!"
I arrived at The Crane on 9/21, and as many others have stated, I was impressed with the reception and introduction to the resort. Once arriving to the resort, I was made aware of construction being done to one of the main pool complexes so it was closed. I was a little disappointed by this, but immediately Mel (one of the managers) jumped into action to make sure this did not ruin my stay. After, a few minutes of calls and talking with reservations Mel made an offer that I felt was fair (at least he was trying to salvage the situation). Nevertheless, the vacation goes on. I must say the resort in itself is nice. It is a little secluded, but thats one of the reasons I chose The Crane. The grounds were nice, the rooms were huge, and the personal pool off the Patio is definitely a plus. My wife and I enjoyed the beach also....beautiful-soft sand with a pinkish hue and playful waves that got a little large at times, but definitely still enjoyable. I really did not have many complaints about the property and its amenities, but I did have a problem with some of the staff. In my opinion, the people make the stay; therefore, I honestly didn't have the experience I expected. Again, the resort in itself is pretty good, but beyond the front desk, much of the staff seemed as if they didn't want to be there, they were not warm and welcoming, and just seemed to have a lack of concern about me as a guest. I must say, this is my personal experience, and it may have been different for many other guest. When I got less than desired service, I would always speak with management, and they would do everything in their power to make the situation better. My wife always see the sun through the clouds, and kept saying, "we came to enjoy the resort, and the beautiful beach", but I can't enjoy myself when staff is being rude, uncaring, and disrespectful to us. I had bad experiences in multiple locations across the resort, and finally I really gave up after my cell phone was taken...On the bright side it was recovered and returned to me, but at this point, I told my wife that I just wanted to stay in the room and ride out the last few days with no disappointment. I did write a letter to guest relations, the owner, and the front desk manager explaining my ordeal, and as of yet I have not heard from anyone. I'm still at Crane enjoying my suite with pool for the last two days...Again, these are my personal experiences and does not reflect every employee of the Crane...Housekeeping was awesome, Linsea (at Carriage House) was awesome, Mel (Front Desk Mgr) awesome, and several others...But the Cafe, General Market, some of the staff at L'Azure, Zen staff, and the gift shop seriously lacked in service. I expressed all my concerns with Management, so I won't go into detail about particular instances. I'm usually fairly easy to please, and anyone can check any of my other reviews and see this. I don't think its asking to much for staff to great you, be approachable, and not be arrogant and smart when you have questions..Enough of my rant on my personal experience. I called my review bitter sweet but honest because, I definitely think you should give The Crane a shot if its on your radar. I think majority of my meals were beyond my expectations, the beach is a true beauty, and Barbados itself is a small jewel. My experience may be an anomaly, and I would hate for anyone to miss out on all the good due to my personal experiences with rude/unfriendly staff. Lastly I will say, I thought I chose a special place for a special milestone in my life (10 yr wedding anniversary), but negative service left me with a less than desired feeling to ever want to return to The Crane. I would appreciate if management does not respond to my post with the generic apology and hoping I give them another chance in the future because I sent you a private email with ample time to privately respond, call, or see me if my unhappy stay truly mattered. Again, The Crane has many great things to offer, so I urge anyone considering it to give it a chance, but I'm a true believer of "You only get one chance to make a first impression!"
The Crane Resort provided an amazing relaxing week for my family. We were only there for four days but it was definetely a time we will remember forever. The beach is truly amazing and mesmerizing with large waves from the Atlantic Ocean and pink sand that runs between your toes. The resort is beautiful and has an elegant aura as you can see how the newer parts of the resort have grown from the original hotel made in the late 1800's. All of the rooms are large. We had an ocean view on our balcony along with a small private pool. The best part of the day was seeing the sunrise from either the beach or the balcony. The staff is very helpful and will go at no length to provide you with what you need. All of the restaurants are good and the food is tasty and filling. A tour of the island is necessary to see all of Barbados, only takes a few hours and can be provided by the resort for an extra fee.
"A very special place...."
We come to The Crane every year and although that sounds boring, it's not.... We get off the flight and then immediately relax and all the stress of work soon fades away. The Crane is a special place and you have to come here to know what that really means but if you are thinking of coming, you've likely seen the website and all it does it get better in real life. There are sometimes issues but the team here do everything possible to resolve and ensure you have nothing but a fantastic time. Our thanks to Ruth, Cathy, Jackie for all that you do and to Annette who keeps our residence in perfect condition on a daily basis. Barry & Sam x
