"Superb personalized services"
I checked in with my mum who with whell chair and need specific services, the staff is very helpful without me asking to help and in breakfast my mum ask specific menu, the restaurant manager is directly giving special attention and ask to the kitchen chef to make that specific menu for my mum. It is really superb services and excellent staff. I have been staying in others five stars hotel, I am not sure others can catch the services that The Dharmawangsa offered.
"Wonderful - a real luxury retreat."
The hotel is beautiful, staff is well trained, but I found the food quality wanting. Indonesian food is the best when invited at someones home in my experience, but i would say that all warungs and street stalls easily do a much better nasi campur than the restaurant in the hotel for 10% of the price. Everything is so well designed with such care for detail so i dont understand why the food does nto receive the same attention.
"My favorite city hotel in SE Asia"
It may not have the historical bona fides of the Raffles or others of that ilk but this is a special hotel that has a real sense of place from the batik fabrics used to decorate to the Javanese music played in the lobby in the evenings and the many Indonesian breakfast choices. A nice contrast to competitors like the Hyatt, etc that feel like any international high-end business hotel. Bathrooms are gorgeous, rooms very spacious (easily double the size of the rooms at the Kempinski), service lovely. I appreciate that they have female butlers- not sure if they are being assigned to me expressly. The bar is great for martinis and the pool(s) and gym are lovely as you'd expect from a hotel of this standard. There are restaurants in walking distance. This is hand's down where I stay in South Jakarta when given the choice.
"Time for A Revamp..."
The welcome at the entrance is assuring and secured... right off the bat, safety is their utmost concern and that can only be good. :) The reception at the lobby was oddly placed bit the receptionists were all alert and attentive. Concierge desk was also helpful in giving directions in the entire property. I was led to the club lounge were I only have thumbs up to the welcome hosts ( 3 of them rotating shift! All super). The all day snack bar is a bit sad for my liking and i am neither enthused with the cocktail spread and breakfast spread. The spa was oh-my-god-beaten-up. My therapist was ok, Ive had better massage. But that is ok. The spa room seemed like it is from a 3 star hotel. Really. I felt a horrible 90mins for the peeling wallpapers, falling apart details and the cracked paint chips on the stools. The room was spacious and layout is sensible... it is bejewelled with fine handcrafted pieces of art and a small library shell that i love... (would be nice to have fictions there or something else aside from Chemistry101 or Math Made Easy.) :) Japanese restaurant is the finest thing in here followed by the room. The host was welcoming and the dishes are fresh and tasty. I had the sushi platter, and miso soup and some squid :) Cleaned plate! I was told by my local friends that I would like this hotel, the grandness that I like, the superb service and finest offers - but after my visit, for me, it is average. I would encourage the management to have a peep at the Ritz... take a notepad along.
"Best hotel in South Jakarta"
I've stayed at the Dharmawangsa on Brawijaya several times over the past few years, and never get tired of the service and décor, which are impeccable. Breakfast in the Majapahit restaurant is certainly very acceptable, but the quality of their evening meals could be improved by using higher quality ingredients, and employing a more inventive chef. For example the lamb curry with paratha bread is flavourful, but the meat was exceedingly gristly, and the nasi goreng spesial does not particularly rise above those found in street side restaurants. Majapahit is by no means the only place to eat in the Dharmawangsa however, and if you are on expenses, or not bothered by the higher cost, the Sriwijaya or Sekitei restaurants offer much better dining experience. If you are looking for a quiet sophisticated drink with friends, accompanied by gentle Gamelan, rather than a rowdy smoky ex-pat bar with its frequent interruptions, then look no further than the Cognac Lounge. An excellent, if pricey venue, where international drinks menu can be enjoyed in luxurious comfort, surrounded by antiques and high end native art and craftmanship.
