"Drake not the same level of cleanliness as before"
My family has stayed here for years . We love the hotel. Loved. (past tense.) The rooms are not clean anymore. The ceiling tiles are falling down. Not Drake quality. We will look around. Plenty of choices in Chicago.
"Christmas in Chicago"
Great spot to enjoy the holidays in Chicago. The hotel looked beautiful! Late night music was a bonus...lots of fun. Easy access to shopping and plenty of cabs. Great little coffee bar for early caffeine fix!
Stayed at the Drake again this year for the annual Mag Mile Light parade. We like the Drake this time of the year due to the festive setting in the lobby. I can say this visit we had a great room over looking Michigan Avenue so we did not even have to brave the cold to watch the parade. The "family" room with 2 queens was huge with two bathrooms. The service in the lounge was great and the stay are friendly as ever. The location is great with quick access to shopping, restaurants, and all that Michigan Ave offers plus near the beach as well. Things to consider if you plan to stay at the Drake: 1. Valet parking is very expensive. This is common in the area but for those driving in need to plan for an extra 60+/night for parking. 2. The bellhop is usually very busy so it can take a bit of time to get your luggage to your room or from your room. Make sure to plan accordingly. 3. This is an old hotel so there are some fixtures and hints of old in some of the rooms. I personally thing this is part of nostalgia of the Drake, others may not like it. I travel every week and stay at many "new" hotels and a stay at the Drake is always comfortable. Plus I know what to expect.
"Great place! Great Location! Great Staff!"
The Drake is beautiful! It is filled with so much history and so enjoyable. The rooms are your standard rooms nothing too crazy about them. I had a great check-in experience with Greg! He was super helpful. Great location! Will be back soon!
"Beautiful for Christmas"
On a girls weekend to Chicago we enjoyed our stay at The Drake. It is a lovely old hotel that is still lovely, but in need of some TLC. The Christmas tree at the top of the stairs is gorgeous, but it wasn't fun lugging my own suitcase up those stairs. A bellman or someone to assist in bringing luggage up and down would be appreciated. It seems The Drake has lost some of what I assume is it's fine customer service, they were also out of water at the desk Thursday evening when we checked in. The room was clean enough, but the view from our 3rd floor room was of the wall of the building next door... The breakfast buffet was a good way to start our day before hitting the Magnificent Mile. Overall, it was a good stay, but for the price I was expecting more.
