"Splendid Historic Hotel"
We stayed here on a Thursday night and loved it. The heavy window treatments blocked most of the city noise, the carpets were so thick, and the bathroom was very large for a hotel. Room 820. We booked this for my first trip to Chicago and I cannot wait to go back. The robes were so cozy & a Starbucks/bus stop is conveniently located at the Hancock Building right behind the hotel. Although parking in the city is steep we used the SpotHero app and spent $35 for 24 hour parking next door. The lobby is gorgeous and the flowers are jaw dropping. I wish we had time to experience high tea there.
"Welcoming, Great Location, Classic!"
The Drake hotel is a classic Chicago hotel! The location was great to go for a morning run on Lake Michigan, jump on the train to Wrigley, or walk to Magnificent Mile to shop. The staff is friendly and took good care of my family during our stay.
"Wonderful Iconic Hotel!"
Very nice hotel in the heart of Chicago! Great location, rooms, and service was excellent! You can get to Hancock Tower, Little Eatily, and the river with a very short walk! I would highly recommend Steve's Segway Tour, Field Museum, Architectural tour and of course a Cubs game!
"A true classic"
My wife had always wanted to stay at the Drake due to its landmark status and old time elegance, whilst I had always ignored the place preferring to be either closer to the river or the south loop....well I received a well deserved kick the pants for avoiding the Drake after our first but almost certainly not our last visit. The location is of course superb the abundance of quality shops and places to eat nearby should suit every traveler and indeed budget. The interior of the Drake is as you would expect, sumptuous, warm and inviting ....indeed the furnishings in the lobby absorb noise so you hear the pleasant hum of the world passing by in stark contrast to some of the more modern hotels whose lobby's resemble an airport lounge. Our room was large, well appointed and although only on the second floor street level noise was barely audible (our friends had a corner room which had outstanding views ). The bathroom was more than adequate for our needs ...true it is on the smaller side than you would get with a modern hotel but par for the course for an older property. The room was spotlessly clean, the bed comfortable and inviting. Due to a busy schedule with friends we didn't get much chance to enjoy the hotels facilities ....we did try the breakfast on our last day and although it was more than adequate it was vastly overpriced ...that being said The Drake has become one of our favourite Chicago hotels and is penciled in for a return visit in the summer.
"Celebrating my mother's 90th birthday."
The Drake is a landmark hotel. The experience of having a large family gathering was handled by the Drake staff with attention to detail and with smiles. A wonderful time was had by all! There were at least 40 family members with the majority staying at the Drake. Each and everyone shared what a lovely time it was by having the celebration originate and conclude at the Drake.
