"Old world charm"
WE stayed 2 nights at the Dusit Thani in Bangkok and the foyer and grounds were beautiful but when you get to the rooms they are getting very tired and need an update considering what you pay to stay. Better hotels in Bangkok now
"Exquisite experience but the facilities need a little updating"
Have always wanted to stay at the Dusit, so it was opportune for a luxurious weekend in Bangkok with the folks. The service is impeccable; Thai courtesy is warm and friendly. You can tell that the hotel is from another age with the door bell, lights and room service switches looking a little out of place in the 21st century. It is charming but could do with a little modernizing. The bed, however, is supremely comfortable, and the breakfast spread is worth the effort coming down early and lounging through the morning.
"Convenient location with monorail stop outside"
This is a large modern hotel very conveniently situated with a monorail stop right outside. Fares are very cheap and ticket machines easy to use. We had a large corner double balcony room overlooking park and pool for 3 nights bed and breakfast. The double glazing is not brilliant and it's a little noisy with traffic and music in the mornings (we never did discover where the music came from) The shower pressure was not brilliant but our shower was over the bath whereas our friends had a separate shower cubicle, that may have been better Good selection for breakfast catering for international tastes, self service except for tea and coffee, beautifully presented All the staff are very smiling and helpful You can walk to several bars and restaurants including Patpong night market area There is a small outside bar area and a larger inside lounge bar but that's not very welcoming or cosy The bed was large and very comfortable I thought the lighting was quite poor in the bedroom - low energy bulbs etc but difficult to see for reading or make-up etc Several fast lifts with good security - using the key card for access to floors
"I could find fault but I won't"
A grand old hotel by Bankok standards, but oh my did every thing work so beautifully, this is how a hotel should be run. I stayed in Dusit room, and yes it is a bit dated, the carpet a bit stained but there was nothing in that room that was missing, all the unexpected little things in the draws that you just might need! I was never hassled by housekeeping, the room was serviced impecably twice a day, full clean in the morning and turn down service and tidy up in the evening. The air con worked faultlessly, the bathroom was vast with bath ,shower and seperate shower cubicle, endless fresh towels, all this for arround £100.00 a night, very reasonable for this standard of service and facilities, in a very central positioneven if the room was a touch tired. The staff were all very charming and helpful. I repeat again this is how to run a hotel, every thing, just quite simply ,worked. All in all an extremly confortable stay and highly recommended.
"Not Good for Family"
We've chosen a wrong hotel to stay in Bangkok for our family with as young as 5 years old children. Location was great, accessible to all places of Bangkok. Near the heart of the shopping district. Quite old and rooms are not good enough. It's good for quick business trip.
