This was a perfect spot for our three day Vancouver getaway. Ideally located, old-school luxurious, classic Fairmont service. The hotel was undergoing renovations during our stay, and it was very noisy at times, even from within our room. As long as you aren't spending a lot of time in your room during the day, this isn't too much of an issue -- though I wouldn't have wanted to attempt an afternoon nap. "One of The Best (Maybe - "The Best")"
My fiancée and I stay at The Hotel Vancouver about seven times a year and the staff (especially the Gold Floor) make us feel like this is our second home. The staff are attentive, will do anything to accommodate you and the location is second to none. From missing luggage (and a new wardrobe having to be purchased for a major meeting) to arranging escorted tours of Chinatown and getting you that second latte, they are amazing. I highly recommend the Hotel Vancouver

Note--I have stayed at many Fairmont hotels throughout Canada and beyond for several reasons--mainly friendly, helpful and professional staff; quality of service by all employees; clean and spacious rooms; excellent food options; fitness rooms; spas; and location. I stayed at this property for four nights. Check in was exceptionally smooth with friendly and professional service. My room was ready well in advance of my anticipated arrival as I arrived 2 hours early. I received emails for online check in. My room was large, spacious, clean and had all amenities that I would expect. While the hotel is older than many in the city, it has been well maintained and or renovated. The Concierge was very friendly and helpful as this was my first extended stay downtown and I had several questions re: restaurants to dine at; shops that I wanted to visit, etc. The lobby is bright and spacious; the restaurant and bar I was told was recently renovated--very comfortable with good food and service. There are many high end shops off the lobby. I used the fitness room each day and was pleased with the options available-from free weights to cable machines to treadmills and bicycles, plus a stretching area. Very nice spa located on the lower level. Excellent location in the heart of the city and an easy walk to the SkyTrain stop at a station called Vancouver Center. My stay was very positive and I would return to this hotel without question.
"Well situated property with character"
I stayed 3 times at this hotel, each time in a different style room. 2 rooms were renovated, but smaller in size, the 3rd was a large double corner unit, older but incredibly spacious. Overall the hotel is very good though - not luxurious , but comfortable and well situated. Staff is responsive. Room dining service is very courteous and the quality of the food good. The rum raisin ice cream was delicious and their salads were healthy and hearty. I would stay again for business or pleasure
"Poor Customer Service"
I booked a 2 Queen room online and while checking in was informed that only single King bed rooms are available. When asked if there are anything that can be done, instead offering any solutions or compensation, the staff simply stated that she'll be happy to cancel the reservation for us with a rude attitude. Did she expect us to sleep outside in the snow'
