"Beware of false advertising"
I booked and paid for a premier ocean view room. Room was nice, but I would not describe my premier ocean view room as a "full ocean view". I've stayed at many beach resorts, and I would describe my room as "partial ocean view" (which I imagine is what their "deluxe ocean view" room is). I feel like the advertising is misleading, and would not have booked the room if I had known. I think I was given a deluxe ocean view, and charged for the premier ocean view. I brought this up to the front desk, and was assured that I was in the correct room. So, beware of false advertising.
Welll worth the cost. Great service, beautiful common areas, comfortable old, but updated rooms and fine service. I will definitely return. Good location, close to many good restaurant and Santa Monica pier.
Great location. My room had a wonderful view. Shower is smallish. Nice furnishings. Stayed in Shutters the trip before this. For half the price, Miramar is a great value! Would stay here again. Bungalow is a very hopping bar
"Fantastic people Fantastic property"
Firstly, the Fairmont Miramar team did a great job resolving some initial booking issues that is not to go unnoticed. Allyson Humphreys and Adrianne were exceptional and very generous in their time and handling to resolve the issue. The property is very well located and appointed in amenities and services (Beautiful grounds) and a very nice restaurant. Our family of 5, including two younger children occupied a bungalow, very nice, but we also visited suites in the Tower and the older low rise. The Tower is also nice and the older tower suites are decorated well but not ideal for a family unit. Overall the experience after new days is wonderful. the valet team is great and Danielle at the Concierge very helpful and pleasant. We will definitely return.
"Disappointing for a Fairmont- Don't Bother!"
We have stayed at several Fairmont Hotels in the past and we have to say this one was a major disappointment. We checked in a Friday Evening. The Front Desk Greeting is one way I review a hotel having sold travel for years. I have to say the Greeting was Lukewarm! We booked the reservation with Amex Platinum Fine Resort and Hotel through their Travel Agency. The front desk did not go over the amenities that we were to receive with being a Fine Resort and Hotel. They did however give us a survey that will go back to American Express. In the amenities we were suppose to get an upgrade room however it seems the front desk could have cared less and we were given a very small room. The room we were given was very mediocre hotel room definitely not a luxury room for the price we paid. The Bell Staff basically had to squeezed the suitcases one on a chair and the other on a smaller rack. It seemed he did not care about anything but the tip. He did not offer another rack or any other suggestions to the suitcase left of the bed. There was not space in this room for the suitcases 2 medium size and one small (we had been traveling for 2 1/2 weeks). We could not open one of the suitcase that was on the chair and had to put it on the bed to open it because of the wall. The smaller suitcase had to be left on the floor and then put on the bed when we needed it. Fortunately are stay was short here! The beds were comfortable but the bathroom was also very small. The wind was whipping through the window making a noise because the window wouldn't shut all the way. The noise finally stop when we got ready to sleep. Either we got a awful room or having travel extensively all over the world this hotel should not be rated 4 or 5 stars! The staff was JUST OK but did not go the extra mile of being hospitable. We order breakfast in the room and when the table was there we had to cross the bed to get to the bathroom! Stayed in many hotels in NYC that are 4 and 5 stars and never had a room this small. It would be great if management of the hotel worked on staff and service being more friendly. This hotel is not for the well seasoned luxury traveler!
