Hotel is a classic boutique style, but a bit lacking in character. Everything very clean, breakfast very good, aircon in room quiet, but street noise was intrusive. Area around is rundown but improves quickly as you go south and we never felt unsafe. We had 3 nights here, before going up country and on our return had decided to try the O and B hotel as it is more central. On arrival we found Booking.com had double booked our room (not uncommon apparently) so the manager had taken it upon himself to book us in somewhere else... yes the Fresh Hotel!
"Decent value hotel"
Stayed for three nights. Had no idea of the area since it was our first time in Athens. As previously mentioned in other reviews the area is a bit seedy but to be honest the whole city is. All major buildings, entry and garage doors downtown are sprayed with graffitti. Not much street art but horrible grafitti as back in the 1980s. The hotel is next to the central market where you can sit down in a little taverna and get some local cheap food. The hotel is quite central and we walked to all the bars and restaurants are they are plentiful in the area ie 15 min walk. Breakfast was standard. Nothing to shout about. Breakfast room was clean. Rooftop has nice view of the acropolis. The pool is on the small size and not heated in October. Shame as the weather was fantastic. Nice to have a rooftop though and views of the Piraeus too. We had a room with a balcony on the 7th floor . We were lucky enough to have a view of the Acropolis sandwiched between two other buildings. Room 710! Nice surprise and view at night. Would recommend floor 8 though nothing below. Room was ok but not spacious. Sadly like the rest of Athens there is a need to the hotel to be better maintained as cracks are now showing. Toiletries are good since these are the local Korres. Wi fi signal is on the slow side but enough to get your morning research. Reception and bar staff were attentive and very pleasant.
The hotel was really nice and the staff really friendly. The location was good but not a good idea to turn right out of hotel as it was a bit seedy behind. But turn left and onto the main road and you are in easy walking distance of the square with lovely restaurants
The hotel is very good for people not looking to pay a lot and have a good experience. Breakfast is good, service is very good and the rooms/bed are nice. The area is a bit dirty but close to athens's main attractions
"cheap design hotel (IKEA style) in a terrible and dangerous area"
not sure why this hotel got such good reviews. It's a design hotel positioned in a terrible, dangerous area, surely not for families with children or elderly couples. Wht one would want to spend time here except if one wanted to do a sociological analysis of the poorer neighbourhoods of Athens is beyond me. Plus, the hotel could have been in LA or anywhere else in the world, just design and no authentic Athens/Greek touch to it. And it's not even great design. Think of IBIS hotels or IKEA. Tiny rooms - think Tokyo size. When you're stretched out on the bed you can reach both walls. The bathroom equally tiny - just space for one person to stand in. Terrible. The 'pool' is a bathtub size hole on the roof terrace. The staff not professional, not particularly nice or helpful. We had booked for three days and left after one night.
