"First stay but not last"
Was here for a company conference and my first visit. First of all the location is really great, close to nice cafe, restaurtant etc. Also almost at the port/channel. Rooms are ok, heard from some colleques they had bigger space than my. We had the dinner in the restaurant which was also really good. So can only recommend it
"Very good, but a bit expensive"
Staff was very kind, Rooms are clean and nice arranged, but not very special. The Pillows were definitely to flat and the bed in sum to soft to sleep well (we normally use medium or hard ones. These were just as soft as a piece of warm butter) There was no really view out of the window but that's not important because of the perfect location to explore the city. Many restaurants for breakfast and dinner or for sure some cocktsilbars are nearby (don't need the one of the restaurant, even if it's a good one). We regular needed just 15-30 minutes walk around the beautifully center to reach our destination. Otherwise parking and travel by train is no problem. At least the hotel is in sum very good, but a bit expensive.
"Nice hotel ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️"
A hotel with a feeling of home. We had a really good stay. The breakfast had a prompted selection of good quality. The staff were professional and did their best for us. We had room service one night and the service was as expected. The bar must be tested, a great selection. We also used the time in the library, which is beautifully decorated and quiet to relax. We come back.
"Very smart hotel, impressive pretty much across the board"
Stayed for three nights on business. The reception was friendly, fast, and efficient, my room was plenty big enough with tea and coffee making facilities and a ($$) mini bar. The shower was great but the towels were a bit thin (by design rather than through use). Bed was comfy and the bed linen was of a good quality. The bench was not ideal for work (I would have preferred a chair) and the desk was a tad narrow, but I didn't need to work much in my room. The bar is well stocked with plenty of liquors and the tap beer is really great. The bar menu is limited and there are not many veggie choices. The restaurant is exceptional with an interesting mix of Italian dishes that were all prepared and served with much style. Try the sweet potato carpaccio, truly amazing! The ambience of both the bar and restaurant is very nice, with the restaurant reserved and calm and the bar in the evening very hip with a great soundtrack. Service in both places is exceptional. The bar gets popular but never rowdy, so expect a very cool crew on the mix of high stool benches and very relaxed sofas. Chairs outside have sheepskin covers and blankets to ward off the cold, but that's where the smokers hang, so be warned if you find this uncomfortable. All in all a very pleasant stay in a delightful, original hotel with a lot of thought gone into the decor. I texted my colleague who was still heading in "hotel is very groovy" and my opinion didn't change. Highly recommended.
"Almost Nearly Perfect"
Had the pleasure to stay in this "funky" hotel The George for a couple of nights and had dinner two times in the restaurant. The hotel is a design-boutique hotel for the young and trendy crowd, prices are competitive for Hamburg. We normally stay at the Atlantic close by and was up for a change. Design wise it's a bit "Shabby Chick" and in some cases over the top, cool and funky can also be to over-designed and this place had certainly cool elements, but to much of a good ting can be overwhelming, even for the young at heart. The lobby converts into a bar/lounge area, with a heavy bass pumping, there is cocktail service at the tables and a very extensive bar menu and huge selection of spirits. To bad, the waiter had no idea about mainstream champagne, and tried to persuade us to buy a Ruinart Blanc de Blancs champagne instead of Moet et Chandon Rose, witch where our first choice. However, she managed to smile her way thru the lack of knowledge and we had a nice experience in the bar area, despite the loud music, we where able to have a meaningful conversation. But perhaps a good idea to tell the staff the difference between the diff. champagnes. The food was with an Italian touch and good size portions. Good value for money, starters up to 15 Euros and main up to 35 or so. We had a delicious Vitello Tonnato and the service in the restaurant where good and attentive. The staff in the bar and lounge, where perhaps a bit to narcissistic for our comfort. The Front desk staff was very attentive to our needs.Thank you for 2 great nights, We will soon be back again,
