"Public areas truly Grand, a few flaws in room design"
During our 2 1/2 week tour of India, we stayed at this hotel on 3 occasions - 5 nights in total. Pros: On the first stay our group was greeted very nicely with garlands and refreshments, however did not get this reception on return or as individuals so seems to be a selective service they provide. It was very nice however for our first night on arrival to India. The hotel is very beautiful with a lovely, spacious marble lobby, fountains and gardens. The staff is very courteous with everyone including all housekeeping staff greeting us as we passed by. Special thanks to assistant manager Manpreet Singh for helping us when some problem with our room reservation on last visit and going above and beyond to make arrangements and show us facilities. Also great thanks to Chef Girish (sorry if wrong spelling) for the special dish he made for me with yogurt and rice when he found out I wasn't eating much because I felt sick. It was unfortunate that I was recovering because food at this hotel is very good. They were one of the few hotels we stayed at that offered some non-Indian food choices which people may sometimes prefer for a change and very good Indian choices. The room and bathroom are all a very comfortable size. Have good amenities - nice toiletries, safe, robe, slippers, scale, lots of water bottles, tv easy to use (not so everywhere), a number of built in North American outlets. Cons: The biggest problem is the shower design. The ledge to stop the water is quite a distance from the shower area, which has no curtain or door, causing one to have half the bathroom flooded with water each time you shower. Hot water was also iffy here and never good enough to fill the big bathtub. Another problem for me, who does not have great arm strength, was the flusher on the toilet. Unlike most of the hotels that we stayed at in this category, which had nice dual flush buttons on the tank, this toilet has a huge button on the wall that took both hands and all my might to push in enough to flush it. There was also no way to leave on one light in the bathroom so that one had a night light. We had to close the door from the bedroom and enter from the hallway door so that it was not too bright. And while I mentioned a pro of the available outlets for charging your devices from North America, some of them do not work when the lights are out, which is when you want to charge overnight. Another accessibility issue in the design of the hotel is that the restaurant is on the bottom floor and only the elevator bank on the pool side of the hotel goes to this floor. As a group we were always on the other side where the elevator only goes to the lobby level and then one must take two very large sets of stairs to get down. If you then take the elevator up, it is a long maze to try to find your room from the opposite side of the hotel.

"An obnoxious stay at "THE GRAND""
To start with, we arrived around 15:15 and informed at the reception that none of the 02 booked rooms were ready & we’d have to wait for another 30 minutes, whereas the check-in time as per the hotel standards are 14:00 hours. Considering the request as inevitable, we agreed to wait for another 30-40 minutes, and meanwhile we were offered to have a complimentary coffee, however to our surprise none of the room was ready even until 15:45 and we had to linger around without even getting fresh for another 1 hour. At 16:45, only 1 of the 2 rooms was made available and we were asked to wait for another 15 minutes before the second room could be ready. Later when we checked-in to the room, it wasn’t the one we requested for and committed earlier at the reception and when the concern was raised, we had to wait for another 1 hour in the lobby area before the requested room (again only 1 of the 2 rooms was available) was finally arranged around 18:00 hours. Since the second room was still unavailable, hence we all had to move to just single room. After wasting around 3 hours in the lobby area, when the concerns were raised with duty manager, we were just being consoled by suggesting that we may extend our check-out by 2-3 hours as if we are idle and there’s no value for our time. Further, our sufferings didn’t end there and we continued to receive an unpleasant experience during our stay. We are really annoyed and upset with the kind of services we received at the “5 Star” property like this, which were way below our expectation and your standards. In the end I can just say that our stay at “THE GRAND” was a complete waste of time and money. -Saurabh
My bad mood, because of cancelled flight, got relieved in this lounge. The attentive service, panoramic view and ever-smiling Lalit made it wonderful and memorable. The hotel as the name suggests is really Grand. Rooms and toilets are big and spacious. Lots of dining option. Warm hospitality. thank you very much Grand.
"Good rooms, complicated staff"
Stayed for two nights. We arrived very late so check in was fast but no informations about hotel. Room was very comfortable, big with a very good bathroom with bathtub and shower. At breakfast problems started. Asked for fried eggs at egg counter and the waiter said they would take them to the table. They never came. At night we had half board, went to the help desk to see were we would dinne since no informations were given at check in Receptionist said no dinner, only breakfast..we had to ask for a double check for him to finally find the half board. Buffet is not bad but not a lot choice. Next breakfast eggs forgotten again. Only mine came not my husband's. The real problem was to exchange money. There are limitations in hotels to money exchange. Only up to 80 usd. If you have a 100 dollar bill they cannot change. Only exact amount. We only had 100 we asked for 20 change but not possible. Changed euros up to 60. Room in my husband's name, he asked for the money exchange but the final paper came with my name. Long story short: don't change money at hotel, keep your eyes on you eggs Overall not bad but not perfect
