let me start by saying that I visited this place about 15 years ago right after my divorce and the place has not changed. I took my son down to Miami to celebrate his birthday by catching a marlins game. I was worried about some of the reviews and yes it could use some freshening up but its still very nice and the attention given to us was outstanding...this is not a flashy/busy big south beach hotel ,but it's a smaller hotel with minimal other guest. perfect views and can I mention no crowds again...I was with my son but it would be a nice get away for a couple. I did however think the bar was somewhat over priced. I would offer to the management if they wanted to increase business then I would look at lowering your drinks etc. for specials ...appeal to the young professionals that live in the area which I'm neither
This restaurant has one of the prettiest views in Miami. The chef is quite good , as is the service. I love the bartender, he makes a mean martini ! The pizza is arugula pizza with prosciutto is delish and we also love the grilled octopus . Nice wines by the glass list .
"Unfortunate Detirioration of Prior Glory"
I had the good fortune of staying at the Grove Isle Hotel and Spa prior to their acquisition and conversion to Palmeiras Beach Club. First let me start with the positive: The grounds and public space are great. You really cant beat the location. It truly feels like being in another world away from Miami. The service staff (reception, valet and bell staff) are severely understaffed now. The level of service and attention to customer needs was superior prior to the recent acquisition. The food in the restaurant is good, but not outstanding. If you have the choice there are better options for restaurants in Coconut Grove and Coral Gables with better service and selection. The breakfast used to be a real highlight of the stay at Grove Isle Spa. This is now more of an afterthought and lacks the style and panache of its prior glory. The rooms of the hotel are in serious need of some attention and ideally an upgrade. They are okay for a 3-Star hotel, but when you're looking for and paying for 4 or 5 star accommodations, this place falls short...significantly. Back to my comment about staffing. The check-in process was not a smooth transaction. After waiting for 10 minutes to get help, the receptionist could not find a room for us despite having our reservation.in hand. 1 hour later, after getting to the room we asked if they could bring us a mini-fridge because we had medication that needed to be refrigerated...it took 3 calls to the front desk and a full 24 hours before a fridge was brought to the room. The valet staff consisted of one employee. The wait time to get your car was no less than 15 to 20 minutes. At one point, we snuck into the garage and took our car with the spare keys in my wife's purse. This place holds a special place in my heart based on my prior stays. In the past I was un-moved by the average accommodations in light of the superior location, exceptional service, and extraordinary setting. Based on my recent stay, the luster is gone from this once brilliant jewel in Biscayne Bay. I'll have to make my memories elsewhere. I hope they quickly adapt and focus quickly learn to focus their attention on the fundamentals of service excellence. It would be a shame to let this oasis slip away.
"Quiet, nice and good service"
We came here to get away from South Beach. It was clean, quiet and we received good service. Rooms were a bit out-dated but they were still classy, clean and roomy. We got room with a beautiful view of the bay which was simply stunning. The hotel offered a small breakfast (croissant + OJ/coffee) so we had to leave the hotel for a better option, but since we were out and about all the time this didn't affect us. But if you want to stay at the hotel and have a nice big breakfast then this might be a problem for you.
"Great stay "
We loved our stay ....very romantic and had some great drinks at the bar down by the Bay. They had little fire pits you could sit around and have a drink and relax . Rooms were outdated but clean and had everything we needed .
