Very comfortable bed, beautifully appointed rooms, nice club lounge, excellent service from all staff. Very nice breakfast, lots of choices. Concierge very helpful. Made sure taxi drivers knew where we were going and we had a card with hotel address in Mandarin for returning.
"A bit outworn, I expected more from a "Luxury collection" Hotel. Price for Value is OK"
Room (Junior Suite) was OK, but a bit old, as the whole hotel is. Service was also OK, but not overwhelming, English language skills very limited. It seems taht the whole hotel lives from the glory of the past and tries to maintain it without real invests or modernization. The executive lounge is just a small area with drinks and a small variety of fingerfood, nothing really noteworthy. I need to admit that the room rate was substantially cheaper than other 5 star hotels, so at the end the value was justified for the relatively cheap price. Therefore it was OK to stay there for one night. The location is very good and the breakfast was also sufficient. Bottom Line a fair deal, but not more.
"Fantastic experience in Hongta "
Well customer service and exotic Italian dinner. Really enjoy my holiday time in China with my boyfriend. Nice, elegant and equipped room just make us have the sense of falling love with this amazing city! Anyway, thanks Hongta hotel for giving us such a memorable experience!
This hotel is part of the SPG family, it's considered a luxury hotel, and it's rated highly in their website (4 out of 5 stars). The good Location is a 10 minute walk from a Shanghai metro station, allowing one to easily move around the city--about 10 minutes from the West Nanjing stations. The rooms are standard quality for SPG hotels. The hotel has a decent gym and swimming pool, which I used daily. The bad I felt that the place left a lot to be desired, when compared against similar SPG hotels, such as the Sheraton, Westin and Le Meridien nearby. The 2 most glaring problems I found with the hotel were the staff and the food. The food was subpar, with very few options in the menu. The breakfast buffet was poor in the Western choices. In fact, after the first day, I ended up walking across the street to the Holiday Inn, for breakfast :) The staff was not very helpful. A lot of this may have to do with their English skills (rather, lack of skills). I had trouble communicating the simplest requests with most of them, including concierge and phone requests. This is the first time I've been disappointed with an SPG stay. Overall For the brand, the ratings, and the cost, I expected a lot more. I would not book this place again.
An excellent hotel, good service, fantastic breakfast and nice room. The staff are courteous and always willing to help although English proficiency can be improved for easy communication. Wil definitely stay there again.
