"the worm hospitality of India stays out of lalit hotel."
The fine location and the modern big room does not compensate for the terrible service and the attitude of the staff. An atmosphere of a noisy bus station including the restauorant Never in my life I was treated the way the front desk did, Stay elsewhere if you want any reasonable service
Recently over from the UK for a wedding and this hotel was both the worst and most expensive we stayed at during our trip. We also stayed at the Jai Mahal Palace in Jaipur and the Fateh Prakash Palace Hotel in Udaipur (both of which included free internet by the way). At The Lalit our room was adequate though somewhat smaller than either of the above. My wife lost the butterfly back of her earring on the floor and I was on my knees looking under the bed with my mobile phone torch. The floor was covered in thick dust. It could not have been cleaned for weeks. The safe was next to the fridge and when we opened it our mobiles and laptop were very hot. Something for the hotel to look into. The bathroom tap was rusty at the base and the shower pin for activating the soaker kept releasing so that it would only work if I kept my finger on the pin. Breakfast was like eating in the middle of a cattle market - very noisy, though the quality of the food and table service was very good. Overall a disappointing experience. I would say don't bother.
"Nice hotel, HORRIBLE service"
The lalit is a nice property in a central location in New Delhi. Pool is smallish but nice and buffet excellent. My stay was soured by several serious flaws in service. Please note from my profile that I am an experienced traveler with many reviews from around the world. 1) I arrived at 2:30pm and we were kept waiting 2 hours for our rooms to be ready, yes 2 hours! We kept being told another 5 minutes...staff left and never came back, we had to reinitiate the process every 30 minutes. This is completely ridiculous to be kept waiting 2 hours. Note, we did not arrive early and had called the day before to confirm our rooms and arrival time. 2) they took a deposit of 10,000 INR but at checkout refused to count it towards our balance!'! They insisted this was somehow separate accounting than the charges on my room and that in 2 days I would be reimbursed this deposit. Again, incompetent and backwards service. I was in a rush to get a train or would have refused to pay the bill. Still waiting for that $ to be refunded. 3) Nearly impossible to get service at the pool for drinks and was charged more than the menu price. Pool guys said I had to call room service, handed me phone, guy on phone said to give him pool boy, this went on for 10 minutes- would have been funny if I was not involved. 4) told front desk that we needed to leave at 7am and was an early breakfast possible (restaurant opens at 7), they said no. Asked twice and same reply. Came down at 6:50am to check out and breakfast room had a dozen people eating '!' Thanks for nothing... There is no way the manager can explain this horrible service. I'm sure he will post some formulaic apology, but that is too little too late. This hotel has SERIOUS service problems. Stay elsewhere if you want any reasonable service and don't want to be ripped off.
Training centre is well maintained and all amenities are also very ommpresive.food in training centre in buffet also so amazing and all staff was well dressed and good in service . It's worth for more training and visits.
"A great start to our trip"
We just returned form a 2 week trip to India which started in New Delhi. Our tour company recommended the Lalit as our hotel and we are very glad they did. Even before we arrived they showed excellent customer service, responding to emails very quickly to let us arrange some parcels to be shipped to the concierge for pickup on our arrival. Check in at 0230AM was quick and efficient and we were given an upgrade to a lovely quiet executive room on the 25th floor. The breakfast buffet the next morning was the best of any hotel on our trip and the staff were always very welcoming and efficient in their service. We would definitely stay at the Lalit again if we returned to Delhi
