Visited the Leela for a wedding and its was a fantastic experience. It started with a small welcome party on arrival and the overall experience was impressive throughout. The staff were attentive, food was amazing and the views of the lake from the rooms was lovely. There is however, a price tag to match this experience.
"Could stay here forever "
Located on a quiet beach at the southern end of Goa, the sprawling property is a delight to the eye and the spirit. Big, comfortable rooms have all the amenities and their balconies overlook lagoons teeming with water plants and birds. All villas with only ground and first floors. No elevators. The endless beach has clean, fine sand and is secure and well-maintained. Nice shacks on the beach offer fresh seafood, Goan, continental and Chinese cuisine. Could stay here for a year in the hotel's serene environment - yoga and mediation in the morning, gyming, playing tennis, swimming in the Arabian Sea or the pool, going for long walks on the endless beach and reading and writing for the rest of the day.
"money grabbing & cheating"
hi all. my story of the leela is a bit of a weird on because we didn't even get to stay there but all the same it's an important one for those of you visiting.... upon arriving at the airport in the uk and starting check in we were in formed one of our visas was not showing up on the computer system and that we could not travel until it was sorted out. my first reaction was to email the leela and explained our situation. we were leaving on a monday and were due to stay at the leela on the wednesday after staying with friends on the tuesday in between. this means i emailed them 2 full days prior to our date of stay. the booking was made with booking.com and it stated in the terms that we could pay upon arrival and no payment was needed up front. within 15 mins of emailing the hotel my bank contacted me and asked me to authorise a payment to the leela. i was astonished of course. my bank contacted me no less than 3 times within 3 hours asking me to confirm a full payment to the hotel! within this time my visa was sorted and we were on the way to the flight. i emailed the hotel and asked them why they were trying to take a payment from me when it clearly stated on the booking.com website that payment was due upon arrival. i also explained that the visa problem had been rectified and we were on our way. i received an email back telling me the room had been cancelled and if i wanted to stay i had the rebook. i couldn't believe it! cutting a long story short i managed to re start the booking process and - wait for it - the price for the same room had jumped from £3300 for 10 days to £6600!!!! we decided to stay at the aleela hotel instead and were pleased we did.

"Spectacular Property with an Unconcerned and Arrogant Team"
Though I'm a little late in writing my review as I stayed way back in May 2016 but I feel it is important that the readers of this forum know the true character of this property. The Leela Goa is a beautiful property and it was once known for setting the hospitality benchmark in this beach town but those glory days are way behind and it is now just living on its goodwill. This Leela Goa now has the philosophy of only maximising revenue by providing average / below average service and at the same time being indifferent to any customer need or request. They don't even care that a guest is sick and needs any supply from a nearby pharmacy but in fact treat it as an opportunity for revenue generation. The team at the Leela Goa is rude, discourteous and totally insensitive to any guest requirement and excels at throwing the rule book at them. The moment you enter this property the first thing they tell you is that they need to pre charge your entire stay on your card - any information about the property, it's features and services is just not important. All this when they have already taken credit card details at the time of reservation and have also done a charge of INR 1 to check it's validity. Anyway post that if you're facing any service issue and want to speak or escalate the case to any senior member of the hotel management team the only answer is that they are not accessible. The food and beverage team here lacks menu planning and in fact the food is repetitive be it their breakfast spread or any other buffet meal as we were on their all meal package. In fact if one actually cares to let them know that the menu is repetitive and boring they arrogantly retort that they know better. I travelled here to celebrate an important occasion but was really happy and relieved to have left the property on check out. They totally killed my joy and brought me down to tears. This hotel will not care as we are just a small customer for them but I really want to remind them that big brands and reputations are built one customer and one experience at a time.
