"The biggest "Boutique" hotel in NYC"
We've stayed several times at The London. Usually one of the pricier establishments, but I've usually reserved at "reasonable" rates during seasonal sales. The rest of Manhattan seems to have caught up as well with their charges. Friendly staff. Check in easy. Registration staff eager to help. Nice bar and restaurant. Suite style rooms. Modern style. Comfortable layout. Good showers. Great views if you're higher up. Mundane side of buildings lower down. Convenient to Broadway, 5th Ave. shopping, and southern Central Park.
"Best in NYC"
I think when it comes to NYC it's mostly about location and room comfort, and the London excels in both. It's perfectly located between Times Square and Central Park. You get the advantage of being close to the action but not inside it. The surrounding is full of places to grab coffee or quick breakfast, also the dining options are endless. Also Avis being next door is a plus if you need a car for a day out of town. The suits are very generous in space and amenities. The concierge I must say is top notch with heads on advice and getting you tickets to sold out shows. For me whenever I'm in NYC the London is the place to stay in. Would definitely recommend
"Tired and underwhelming"
This hotel needs an overhaul and refurb. The rooms are a good size but tired and out of date. Facilities were fairly non-existent - no tea/coffee facilities in the room, no cups or spoons - I had to ask but it took a few goes to get something. The bar was expensive and average - not great atmosphere and food underwhelming and service very slow and difficult to get attention. Gym in better shape but I don't go to a hotel just for the gym... Staff generally friendly but service just above average. Wouldn't go back until it's had an update and refresh.
Not sure why reviews were less than above average for this hotel. I have stayed at the LA London as well and found the NYC location to be very nice. The rooms are excellent and way above average for a NYC hotel room - trust me I've stayed in many. I thought the lobby, views, service and cleanliness were very good, especially for the price. The hotel is in a great location as well. No issues with the HVAC although it did take a while to heat up but ultimately did. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are particular or desire a high-end stay.
"Good Hotel needs repairs"
The London is a good hotel in a convenient location. Good design and excellent service. That said, the hotel needs refreshing. Lots of scratches and chips in furniture, carpet is torn at entry to bath and missing tiles in bath. I stayed on 25th floor and it was very quiet. My non-smoking room was getting some smoke odors-- maybe a neighboring room or HVAC' I'd have shared my disappointment of needed repairs with management if someone had asked me how my stay was-- but they didn't. I'd stay here again, because it's a good value for the price and the location is great if you are doing business in midtown or going to the theatre.
