"Incredible Experience! The property was great, service was better!"
We had a fantastic stay at the London NYC. The rooms were beautiful suites, the common areas are very nice but the people make this one of my favorite spots. We were traveling with an infant and grandmother so we weren't the typical client for a high end Manhattan hotel. Regardless, the staff was incredibly accommodating and helpful. I travel pretty often and this has now become one of my highlights. I highly recommend this property if you're in NYC for one night or longer.
"Perfect NYC Hotel"
Our first time here at the London but we will be back for many times in NYC. Great room, wonderful staff and just what you would expect in NYC. We had lunch in the dining room. The staff was great and we enjoyed 2 hrs. of relaxation and fun. My only disappointment was the 2 morning breakfasts. The "buffet" was OK but for the price it was dismal, the bare basics. Now if you order from the menu, breakfast will be over $50 each. No breakfast at any hotel is worth that much money. We will enjoy many more visits to the London but will know that the basic buffet breakfast is just that.
"Don't Stay Here"
This is the first ever one star review I've given -- and I've stayed at hundreds of hotels around the world. We'd stayed here many times previously, so we were willing to overlook a disappointing experience on our prior stay to give them another try, even though we'd heard that the hotel had been steadily declining under new management. Big mistake. We'd reserved a suite with a king-size bed for my daughter and me to share, but what we got was a full-size, not even a queen. The room was shabby as well. It took several calls to get hold of anyone at the front desk, and once we did we were put on an interminable hold. When we finally got through to someone he flatly told us that the hotel was fully booked and our only other option would be a smoking room. The worst kept secret in the industry is that every large hotel keeps rooms available for unforeseen circumstances, so he obviously took us for idiots. Meanwhile, our booking agent, although trying numerous times, couldn't get anyone at the London to even answer his call. Once he finally reached someone and exerted some pressure they caved and gave us the room that we were supposed to have in the first place -- which miraculously became available. All of this drama took more than two hours, making it too late for us to go out to eat. When we told this to the manager we assumed that he would offer us room service or some kind of accommodation. We were wrong. He did, after our complaining long enough and loud enough, offer us a $100 discount on our room. We won't stay here again, and strongly recommend that anyone else considering this hotel look elsewhere.
"A Bit Run Down"
Well our service was fairly good. I have nothing to complain about in that area. However, the hotel was not worth the money. The shower, itself, is interesting with two showers on opposite sides of each other. That's not the bad part. The issue that I ran into is that the opening was wide enough to where the water from my shower splattered all over the outside of the shower therefore wetting everything within its range. It would've been better to have ONE shower and a door to avoid this issue. Seems to me that they tried to make it fancy but failed on considering the logistics of it. Also, there was a turquoise accent piece at the foot of the bed that was FILTHY. Stains everywhere. I didn't even feel comfortable sitting on it so I definitely felt uneasy setting my clothes or even the pillows that I would be using on it. It was gross. Would've been better just to take it out of the room and not have it at all. The room that my boys slept in seemed to have had insulation issues. I think that the windows were cheaply installed because their room was significantly colder that ours was. Also, they could not sleep because of all of the sirens. Would not stay here again.
"Staying here now"
I've stayed here on many occasions and been happy with it but the place is definitely showing it's age. Carpet in the room is frayed. No robe or slippers provided in the bath. Slow elevators. Breakfast this AM was truly awful. Tasteless hollandaise, one poached egg overdone and more like hard boiled than poached. The English muffin was hard to cut even with a knife. I will not eat here again. On the positive side the room, though arranged awkwardly, is large for NY standards. The bed is very comfortable and the hotels location can't be beat. The cappuccinos and lattes were delicious. I will stay here again most likely but will no longer talk up and recommend the place to friends as I used to do.
