"DONT GIVE THEM YOUR CARD!!!!"
I booked via Expedia, check in date 13th Feb - 18th Feb 2017, I staying in room 411. When I booked with Expedia I checked through the terms and conditions. Our flight departure time on the 18th Feb was at 2239, we planned on calling the taxi to collect us at 1900 which would mean us checking out at that time, only check in time was noted on my booking. On the 18th we went out for breakfast and arrived back at the hotel at around 1300/1330 to which the gentlemen on reception greeted us (by name). We continued to our room to begin packing and getting ready for our departure, there was a call on the phone but nobody on the other end, I decided to pop down to reception to see if anyone had been trying to contact us. When I arrived at reception the gentleman very abruptly said "when do you think you are checking out" to which I responded with our plan above and spoke of our flight times home. He said check out is noon, we where absolutely not aware of this what so ever, we would never over stay out time in a hotel. He then told me I'd already been charged for an extra nights stay ($180) at this point I was extremely concerned that money had been taken from my account without my consent, I did say that in the uk taking monies without my consent is theft and against the law, he responded aggressively "we arnt in the uk" I asked the receptionist if there was any literature or paperwork in the hotel which suggested a noon check out and he said no, my question is how was I supposed to know we was to check out at noon, the hotel debited money from my account on an assumption and without consent. We were not even given chance to rectify the situation by removing our belongings from the room, which given the option we would have waiting in the airport terminal. We had a great time in NYC and felt this last day hiccup has spoilt the trip somewhat.
Great hotel, lovely room, perfect location! Nice and friendly staff, certain staff not very helpful, others couldn't do enough for you. Room was lovely but extremely loud aircon and plug didn't fit in the bath. Otherwise perfect visit!!!!
"False advertising/ completely different then we book. "
I recently stood here over night with my boyfriend. From the moment we open the door and notice how small the room was we knew it was going to be a bad night. As the night progress we notice the room was extremely warm, we try to look around for a Ac or a fan but no luck, we call front desk to see if they can facilitate us with a fan or something but instead they send upstairs a maintenance guy to turn off the heat and ask us to open the window. In the bathroom there were not enough towels and the proper essentials. The worst part was realize the bed sheets were stain with blood. If you do not mind wasting money and mediocre service and burn to death during the night for the satisfaction of a cool looking hotel in the middle of the city then this is the place for you.
"Cheap and good location"
You get what you pay for. This was a cheap hotel but located just a couple of blocks from Times Square. For the location alone it is worth it. Having read reviews we were apprehensive about the size and cleanliness, but we're very pleasantly surprised. Very clean, bathroom was a wet rom with huge shower and comfortable bed. We used it as a base and were only there in the evenings so perfect. Only complaints were that the radiator was on permanently so had to sleep with the windows open. And I emailed the hotel 2 weeks before travelling to query the best way to get from Newark airport to hotel and never received and response. Eventually found the Newark express bus when we landed but would have been helpful to have been told about it in advance. All in all a nice place to stay if you want to be busy and out and about.
This hotel is all about LOCATION! The staff were always super friendly and helpful, the library was great and the rooms were perfect for 2 people. In a 5 minute walk, you're in Time Square! Everything is within walking distance or just a cab ride away. If you're going to the city to see the sights & just need a place to rest your head, this is it. I recommend not driving and parking in the garage next to the hotel. We were told it was $50 a night. We stayed 1 night and paid over $200. They told us it was the "suv rate".
