"Hostel at Hotel Prices"
We arrived with middling expectations as this was merely a business trip but even at that we were left considerably disappointed. Yes the rooms are small, and yes they and the rest of the hotel are terribly rundown and filthy in parts, however it was the total misrepresentation of the hotels facilities and services that we found bizarre. Unlike as advertised on their website; there is no 24 hour room service, there are no stocked mini bars (small empty fridges), but worse there is no laundry, pressing or dry cleaning service to speak of. The last unavailable service is virtually unheard of in almost any hotel category, save a hostel. Worse, staff ability to troubleshoot issues arising from these lost services are challenged at best. It seems that the hotel may slowly be 'downsizing' services, perhaps in preparation for sale or as a re-branding of the property to backpackers looking for a low budget alternative in a decent midtown location. I cannot fault the hotel for being a suitable budget option - it is - however, they do not bill themselves as such. The term "luxury" should be removed from their site along with all of the other services they no longer offer.
I stayed at the Mansfield on the 7th sept 2016 for 6 nights. The hotel in a 5/10 min walk to Times Square, grand central station and all the main attractions. The hot it's self is small but every cosy. As we were on our honey moon we were given the room on the 10th floor but as i don't use lifts the staff were happy to move us to a lower room the next day. The rooms are small and a wee bit dark but for all the time you spend in it they are fine. Really good hotel and would recommend to anyone and if we ever return to New York well will be booking this hotel again.
"Not the best."
The room was cramped and dark. I know that's typical for NYC, but that wasn't my main problem. The hotel charges 15 dollars a day for wifi, which is ridiculous in 2016. When I checked out they offered me a flat rate car service to the airport - I accepted. I waited in the hotel lobby for 30 minutes for a car that never showed up. If I had continued to wait I would have missed my flight. I'd avoid this hotel simply because there are much better (and cheaper) places to stay in NYC.
"Worst Hotel Ever"
I have stayed at quite a few hotels in NYC for business and unfortunately I had to stay here as my trip was last minute and the usual nice hotels I stay at for work were not available. I know no why there were available rooms here. This is an awful hotel. The front desk staff was not friendly and the rooms are ridiculous. Small, ok, it is NYC, but there is no luggage rack, no cup, pen, paper, really anything in the room . Even comfort inn has these things. Oh and a window AC unit''''' And to top it off the bartender was extremely extremely rude. He accused my coworkers and myself of taking his pen! I mean really. Guess things r pretty tight around here if there is only one pen in the bar. seriously. Now I understand why there was availability at this hotel and why no one was at the bar. This hotel is horrible
"Rich Style, Great Location"
The Mansfield Hotel is decorated in a rich, gentlemanly style - the ambiance feels like dark leather, smoking jackets, and velvet-smooth whisky. It's also very dark (as in lack of actual light fixtures) which I did not prefer. The rooms where clean - bathroom and bedding updated, seating furniture could use some TLC. The staff was friendly and the location is perfect - very walkable to 5th ave shopping and Time Square. There is a restaurant onsite. I did not stop in but saw that the reviews weren't great.
