"Nice Accommodation, walking distance to main attractions"
Stayed here for one night on a London stopover, the accommodation is very clean and the staff very friendly. Great location within walking distance to a Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park etc. Would definitely come back here on any future visits to London.
The Montcalm Hotel never fails to please - it's perfect in every respect. Spotlessly clean, well maintained, excellent food and very attentive staff. The location too is excellent being just around the corner from Oxford Street yet it's an oasis of calm away from the hustle and bustle.
"clean but small"
this is a boutique hotel facing the Montcalm. it's staff were very friendly and curtious. the problem is the size of the rooms and smoking smell in the toilet. the staff were so helpful to shift us to the main hotel.
"Shocking. Steer clear."
We had stayed once in the past and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. To the extent that we decided to treat ourselves to 3 nights last month to escape reality, to relax and soak in some peace. We couldn't have been looking forward to it more. All 3 nights were utterly obliterated by screaming kids tearing up and down the corridors on our floor and slamming doors until at least 2AM. Either abandoned by parents altogether, or being yelled at periodically by them, we endured having to listen to these feral brats and their parents every evening for 6hr stretches. At one point, there was also thumping music coming from neighbouring rooms and people stomping above us. We alerted Reception on all 3 evenings - asking politely the first two nights and then practically begging them the third for help. Whoever happened to be on duty - a gruff, impatient man at one point - couldn't have been more rude as he barked over us and shouted at us for information we'd already carefully supplied. As if it was *our* fault they'd lost control of their hotel' Who knows. The first night, he hung up on us. Moron. It does help to listen to the people to gather the facts, particularly to those paying your salary, but y'know, perhaps they're not taught this at Reception School. Then the staff would do things like telephone us -- the shrill of the room phones at that hour is just laughable incidentally, you'd have thought the staff might consider not shocking half dozing customers awake at 1 in the morning -- to let us know *all* the "effort" they'd made to "resolve" the situations.. that, every evening, still continued until the early hours of the mornings regardless. Quite unintelligent, ineffective and unprofessional. But to be expected, I suppose. All a SHOCKING waste of money. We were exhausted by the end of our trip from the lack of sleep. Couldn't wait to get out of there -- had we not had commitments in London immediately following the stay, we'd have demanded refunds and run for the hills. Will NEVER return to this hole. They are an embarrassment to the hotel trade, quite frankly. STEER CLEAR.
"Good value stay"
The check in was very helpful. I arrived very early and checked in at around 7.30am. I managed to get a room before 9am which was great. The front desk and cleaning staff worked hard to get me the room. The room itslef was small but everything was pretty new and functioned very well. Bathroom was small like the room but the shower was great. Bed was very comfortable. The desk was small and I needed to work on it but thats fine. The location was great for me a 2 min walk to Marble Arch and 5 mins to Selfridges.
