"Lovely night away"
We had a very special night away at The Midland. It was everything I had hoped it would be and more. I wanted to take my stepdaughter away for a treat and really wanted it to be a memorable occasion for us both. When we arrive the concierge was very polite and cheery and showed us where to book in. We were then told that we had an upgrade which was just lovely for us, it just made our stay even more special! The room was fabulous and the staff and breakfast made the stay even more enjoyable. Overall I think it was the staff that I was really impressed by. They gave the hotel a great old fashioned charm and grace which I hadn't seen for a long time.
"lovely hotel nice room and good value"
we visited the midland in December for a concert at the arena. we booked a double and a king room. I emailed the hotel prior to arrival asking for rooms on the 5th or 6th floor with city views, near to each other. we arrived early around 1pm and 1 of our rooms was ready. the room was located on the 3rd floor facing the street. it was a shame the rooms were not located on the floors which I requested and was told were booked for us. however the room was a good size and clean. later we returned and the 2nd room was ready. this was located opposite our room & faced over the reception area. the double room was a better size and layout than the king room which was a little disappointing as we paid extra for a king room. the beds in both rooms were very comfy, both were clean and warm and we had no sleep disturbance from road noise unfortunately the maid woke my mother up at 9am thinking the room was empty which wasn't very welcome!! overall we were happy with the hotel and would stay here again
"Mr Coopers Restaurant"
This was gifted dinner for 2. The ambience was of a Garden and unusual. The lighting where we sat was very dull and poor view of the restaurant area. The whole meal was spoiled a by a Chinese party allowing their children to run around screaming despite my request to ask them to calm down. The service was excellent, food was very good but small potions, however it was expensive! There are many superior options in Manchester, and less expensive.
"Christmas Season 2016"
We visited this hotel in July 2016 and were greatly impressed. The hotel is undoubtedly the jewel in Manchester's crown, playing such a huge role in accommodating various leading persons who have contributed to Manchester's development since 1903. (If only the walls could speak!) What better place is there in Manchester to start our Christmas holiday celebrations for 2016'
We stayed here as we wanted a nice overnight stay in Manchester and decided to book way back in April 2016. We went out for lunch on Saturday and had a wander around the excellent Christmas market and soaked up the early festive atmosphere and looked forward to coming back for a drink and a relaxing evening. The room was OK until a disco started presumably in a function room below our room which was number 4. We left the following morning and didn't give the hotel the pleasure of ripping us off for breakfast on top of the £160 for the room which for the standard of the hotel is way over the top. Breakfast would have been another £40 on top of this and having read other reviews we decided not to bother. We weren't asked if we enjoyed our stay and didn't feel valued at all. Very sad as the Midland has a lot of history and I have wanted to stay there for a long time being originally a Mancunian. The hotel and management needs to up its game and standards of customer care.
