Our second stay here in the last 6 months proved to be another success. Daniel at the front desk is affable and informative. Our room was more than accommodating for NYC standards. Most comfortable beds and sheets, modern shower. Love the wine hour with friendly attendants. Location is perfect for the theater, Times Square entertainment, walk to Central Park and terrific restaurants. My daughter thrilled with Baked by Melissa cupcakes just 1 block away. Only downside (and I state this as I realize it's minor given all the attributes of this hotel) is wait time for a cab when leaving for Penn Station. Doorman can not call for a cab and must wait for one to pass by on 46th as cabs can no longer make left onto 46th when heading south on 7th
"Great property in the middle of all the sites!"
My experience with Kimpton properties has always been amazing: updated fresh decor, clean rooms, free happy hour daily, staff that are welcoming and really enjoy their job. The Muse is all of those things AND right in the middle of several attractions in NYC. I was traveling with my husband who loves to walk and my 6 year old who can't walk far. This hotel was a perfect fit for both. We were able to walk a block to Time Square one day then a couple blocks to Rockefeller Center, shopping, and iceskating the next. GREAT location for the Thanksgiving Day Parade. We only had to walk 1/2 a block to be part of the action. We had a great stay at the Muse!
"Not worth the money "
For $900/night I expected to be treated decently. When we experienced a malfunction with our room keys upon arrival, we trekked back downstairs to get new ones. We were issued new ones and again they didn't work. On our 3rd try, a manager came up to see what was going on and his key worked and the door opened. He acted annoyed that we needed his help, asking if we used them right. (Because they're so hard to figure out) Once in the room, our balcony door wouldn't open and we had to call him back up. He came back annoyed and the door opened for him. We insisted that it was stuck or something and when he tried a second time, it was indeed broken and we were locked in. No big deal, as these things happen, but we were not offered any apology or compensation for the trouble and time lost while maintenance came in to fix it. The worst part was the guy's belittling comments and obvious annoyance at our struggles. I wouldn't have spent that much if I had known there would be no respect given.
"50th Birthday Treat."
On reaching certain birthdays a special treat is well deserved. My wife has long wished to visit New York so, for her 50th birthday, we finally got there. When you've waited so long the research is extensive and the planning exhaustive. Sometimes this can lead to disappointments, it can be difficult to live up to expectations. New York lived up to and exceeded expectations we had a fabulous time! The hotel we selected certainly helped the Kimpton Muse is a lovely hotel ideally situated just off Broadway and only minutes from Times Square, the rooms nicely decorated with good quality fixture and fittings and all the staff we encountered were extremely helpful and friendly. The complementary coffee in the morning and complementary wine for a hour in the early evening are very welcome touches. Overall a very classy hotel in a very special city, what more could you ask for a big birthday'
"Great Kimpton style"
You can never say that the Kimpton brand will let you down when it comes to style and design. The rooms here are well appointed with classic rich Kimpton furnishings and all in good repair Power outlets by the bed - always a plus in the device age The lobby is small and the amenities appeared minimal But the staff was nice. The location is great if you want to be near but not right in Times Square For the money in manhattan the rooms are top notch
