"Lovely boutique hotel with great service in a nice area"
The Normandy Hotel is a lovely boutique hotel with helpful staff members, nice rooms, comfortable beds, free coffee and tea and a cosy lounge with wine & cheese every evening. It is in a safe area and good location in walking distance to Dupont circle.
Very nice hotel about a 10 minute walk from Dupont Circle. It is a small and very friendly hotel. The staff is very cordial and willing to help in any matter. The room we got wasn't large (two double beds) but was very pleasant. Unlike other hotels, there was a special reading lamp in the back of one of the beds, which was very convenient. They have quite elegant bathroom (with large shower, no bath tub), with excellent cosmetics. The safe box has the right dimensions to contain a personal computer (13.3"). There was an espresso maker in the room with two new capsules every day. The hotel needs some maintenance / renovations though. The hotel offers to all the guests every day at five pm an hourly complimentary wine and cheese welcome reception. This gesture is very pleasant, and provides an opportunity to chat and make friends with other guests. At all times you may have free tea, coffee and cookies. You can get a good breakfast at additional price ($12 per person - we didn't try). Free Wi-Fi. Near the hotel there are many culinary options in a variety of types and prices. We shall return there.
"Mediocre: too expensive for the quality"
After reading reviews I decided to book a night between the 29th and the 30th of October. Staff was very knowledgeable and welcoming. I was given room 507, which gave on the back and it was clean and quiet. Hotel is located on Wyoming Avenue and it is very tranquil. Room was not that large and it had carpeted floor, which is not a good thing considering hotel accepts pets, since it is very difficult to remove dander. It has a desk, armchair and coffee table and it features a coffee maker, ironing set, flat screen TV and en suite bathroom where toiletries (soap, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner) are available Welcome cocktail hour was offered at 17h30, although within fifteen minutes wines as well as cold-cuts, cheeses and crackers were already over. The best way to handle this would be to offer a coupon to be served in the room or at bar, although in reality, it does not have a bar. The rate I got (one hundred and ninety-seven dollars) was overpriced and it did not include breakfast, which in any case is the same as offered in other hotels. The daily breakfast buffet includes assorted bagels, toast, and pastries, boiled eggs, assortment of meats and cheeses, cereal, yogurt, juice, tea, and coffee. I got much better and paid less with Hampton Inn in August. I would not recommend this hotel as it is way overrated
"Great in every way"
I just dug it. Big enough, the TV was lovely, the morning breakfast fine. It wasn't too far from the important stuff though you may wanna cab or use public transport.. or you may just want to watch TV.
"Lovely Pet-Friendly Stay"
Wonderful stay and professional and very kind and gracious customer service. They're pet friendly and they not only allowed our dog, they excitedly welcomed her. We were given a bowl, treats and toys upon arrival. It was so sweet and made us feel right at home. The room was cozy and beautifully decorated. The happy hour wine reception nightly was lovely. Coffee machine available 24/7. We really loved our stay here and will look forward to staying again. :)
