"An oasis of space, light and tranquility"
A stunning lovely hotel . Beautiful modern architecture, high ceiling, light, mirrored pillars, a huge intense blue reflecting pool. A real feeling of calm and serenity throughout. spacious rooms and open areas. Service of the very highest quality. Only improvement which would achieve perfection would be a proper coffee maker in the rooms and a master light switch by the bed. Small niggles for what was an excellent stay
"Luxury and Service"
Outstanding hotel. If you want to be pampered, this is the place to go. Service is second to none. Special mention for Stephen, head of the concierge department for his helpfulness. Made our first night in India very special.
This hotel is an oasis in Dehli. The grounds are spectacular and the service is simply the best! Check in is done in your room with flowers, fruit and a welcome drink awaiting you. There are plenty of bottles water to ease your mind (and your stomach). Our Luxury room overlooked the maze and contained a sofa, chair, coffee table, desk and a large flat screen tv. Window shades are remote controlled. There is a large walk in closet with shelves. The bathroom is large and contains dual sinks, a separate walk in shower and a free standing tub. The service is amazing and the little things add up. They have an excellent breakfast buffet and you are encouraged to take a box with coffee and pastries to go. There is a car & driver that can take you for free to the local mall or anywhere else close you want to go. When you are ready to return just call the hotel and they will send the driver to pick you up. The spa is reasonable and fantastic. You will not want to leave this hotel.
"Service mishaps aplenty, but willing to give it another chance"
This was our second stay at The Oberoi Gurgaon. It was only for a few hours - we opted to get some rest, relaxation, food and fast internet rather than torturing ourselves in the airport lounge for our approximately 6 hour layover (it was supposed to be a bit longer but for Air India's flight arriving into Delhi 2 hours late due to weather. I was especially looking forward to fast internet connectivity - beginning with the in-car WiFi during the airport transfer - given that we had been offline for over 1 weeks staying at 2 different Tiger safari camps prior to leaving for home. I had some critical work e-mails that needed to be sent. As mentioned in my previous review of The Oberoi Gurgaon, there is nothing wrong at all with the hard product - it's modern and tasteful, and with immaculate landscaping throughout the hotel grounds. The rooms, while not super spacious, were adequate enough for the room category (we stayed in a Premier Room, which is optimistically stated as being 58 square meters in size.) The Oberoi Gurgaon is, first and foremost, a business hotel, albeit a high-end one at that. It means that it promises flawless and efficient service; however, this is where things went awry for them this time. To begin with, the airport transfer vehicle did not have wireless connectivity - it should have had it but for a dead battery in the WiFi transmitter. One can argue that it's not critical to have internet on the 15 minute ride from the airport to the Oberoi; however, it's no excuse.. it's part of the bargain, and they did not deliver. And I was really itching to respond to several important work e-mails, which had to wait for a bit longer than I was hoping for. Secondly, the power port in the desk drawer was non-functional, resulting in an engineer coming to our room to fix it. The entire process took another 30 minutes, but when you consider that we were only planning to be in the room for a few hours, the entire process was 30 minutes too long. Next, several of the in-room toiletries didn't appear to be new. We couldn't verify it for certain, but the shrink wrap for the toothbrush was broken, the toothpaste seal at the top was propped open, and the shower cap looked like it was taken out once from the packaging. I called the front desk to alert them of these issues, and to their credit, a helpful lady was there to listen to my mini-rant and offered to comp us the dinner that we had next door at the Trident (a sister property.) The dinner was fine, so I proposed that they comp us the airport transfer, which she willingly obliged. Hats off to the service recovery (for one of the errors, at least.) Just when all seemed to be forgiven, the bellman tasked to take our belongings from the room (to the hotel car) was almost 10 minutes later than I had originally asked. None of the aformentioned issues are of the life-or-death variety. However, when you consider the brand promise of Oberoi, combined with the price premium that Oberoi commands, it's not an experience that one would expect. I've certainly had flawless stays at comparable business hotels, and would have expected no less from this property. Given that we had a pleasant time when we stayed here back in September 2016, I am willing to chalk this up as an outlier case and give them another shot.... but only one more shot.
This place is the perfect retreat if you want to stay near the airport. The comfort is fantastic and the service is almost too good. We used the gym which is modern and clean and we are in the restaurant , which is too expensive, but good
