"Pavilions Hotel is infested with cockroaches"
From our first impression of the hotel complex and the bungalows we were thrilled. Unfortunately the enthusiasm did not last long. When we walked into our bungalow after dinner, we found dozens of 1 cm long, black cockroaches on the sofa, rug, bed and floor. Absolutely disgusting. We complained at the reception and they immediately sent a cleaning team who cleaned the bungalow thoroughly. However, it was only a short time before dozens more of these disgusting cockroaches fell from the roof onto our bed and the floor. We requested a cleaning team again. This time it took a little longer until the cleaning team appeared because there are other bungalows infested with these pests. The cleaning team then told us to turn off the lights!!! The pavilions hotel charges a stiff price and thinks it can tell the guests turn off the lights in the evening!!! This really is the height of disrespect. We immediately demanded to speak to someone from the management. Unfortunately, it was already 21:00 and there was no longer anyone from the management present. The next morning at breakfast we complained to a guest relation manager. With an arrogant air, she told us that we are in the tropics and this can happen unfortunately. Sorry, what' My partner an I travelled five weeks through Asia and Thailand and we were not faced with pests in any hotel, apart from mosquitoes. Has the management of the pavilions hotel never heard of chemicals which can prevent or combat a cockroaches infestation' The problem of the cockroaches infestation was well known to the cleaning team and still the management takes no action. Therefore the pavilions hotel deserves the "Gruesome Award".
"The Perfect place "
We had just arrived home after spending 9 fantastic days staying at The Pavilions just off Layan beach. We could not have planned a better holiday if we tried everything and everyone made our stay so memorable and pleasurable we cannot express how grateful we were to be able to spend our holiday in such a wonderful resort. Our penthouse spa villa was superb and the service was first class you could just watch the days pass you by sitting in your pool relaxing to the peace and quite or eating a fantastic meal in your villa or the great restaurants and bars with the stunning views of the surrounding hills and beaches. Every day was a new experience the staff were so accommodating and helpful and really made you feel so special they are the nicest people who just go about their au without an fuss and nothing is to hard their smiles and beautiful way is something that you really don't see much anymore. To Jean and his entire team we just wanted to say how much we enjoyed our time with you and look forward to seeing you next year. You made our holiday something that we will remember for a long time. The property Is located high up in the hills about 40 minutes from the hussle and bussel of Patong beaches bars and nightlight. But you can have the best of both worlds hit the party towns or relax in your villa and only hear the birds and tranquil silence which is bliss. We had both and enjoyed every moment and would highly recommend it to couples looking to reignite that flame its perfect for passion romance or just wanting to recharge your batteries of life. Every morning their was a different phrase inside the brekkie menu which was a true reflection of life and having a great balance of work and play. Our time at The pavilions allowed us the time to put both into perspective. The perfect place with the most beautiful people. Mark & Melissa July 2015
"Normally a 5, 4 this stay"
We love Pavilions and this was our 4th or 5th stay. We keep coming back, like others, for the tranquility and beautiful pool villas with adjoining spa and generally feeling very special. We love that the spa ladies come to you and you just step through a door into your own private spa room. We also love that the resort does not gauge you on prices, which is a really nice touch - the mini bar is at local bar prices. Yes, the room rates are expensive but unlike many other expensive resorts, this isn't used as an excuse to charge through the nose for food and drinks. We also enjoy the breakfast which includes champagne cocktails, a buffet of cereals and pastries and hot dishes to order - so much more personal than just a buffet. Service is always attentive, friendly and quick to correct anything and perks for returning guests are great (as long as you book via email). A word of warning at the moment - there is construction in part of the site and it is pretty disruptive if you are planning a relaxing time in your villa near by. There are no warnings on the website and you are not warned if your villa is next to it - ours was. We did not complain until it intruded on a private dinner we had booked in our villa on our last evening. Granted it was stopped within 10minutes and guest relations were apologetic the next morning (unprompted - another nice touch that the resort strives to make your experience a personal one). In hind sight, we should have complained much earlier in our stay and asked to be moved. So a warning to other guests - beware the construction this off season! There are also a few concerning signs this trip - the 3 night package no longer includes dinner, but cocktails and tapas instead (although I preferred this option as I like to head out to dinner as well) and the car service that used to shuttle us to restaurants nearby seems to have been discontinued in favour of local taxis which charge very high fares for Thailand for very short journeys. We are really hoping this is a blip rather than a trend as this is our favourite resort so far in our 5 years in Asia.
It is the 5th time we have stayed here after staying at many couples resorts in Thailand. As an incredibly fussy person we are drawn back year after year by the tranquil location, the attentive staff, the private pool and most of all, our lovely spa therapist who has a special place in our heart. We are sad to leave but look forward to next years trip.
"So good we extended our stay"
We stayed at the Pavillions in April. It was quite possibly the best place I've ever stayed. Huge villa and private pool was exquisite but felt like home. Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff. Cocktails at sunset were a real treat (but take your bug spray!). We only had tapas at the bar but the food was lovely. Nearly every restaurant in the area offers a free taxi home. We were originally only due to stay two nights but booked for two more. I didn't want to leave. The best place to stay in Thailand, possibly the world.
